So, whats there excuse?

Excuse? Ha! Typical throw money in the wind & hope the Far East returns a product of some type when they feel like it :p I sent them an email last week & never heard back from them. It was on a group buy, some of the members here mentioned that group buys take longer to ship. Fortunately I paid with PayPal so I can dispute it if I don't see it soon.

Thank you, Senior. :)

I'm appreciating this clown for what it is, but, like you, I do dislike the use of the Evolv splash, and the XvoStick logo as well.

Brandon and I are acquainted actually, and know his work fairly well. Yes, he and John have brought SO much to our vape table over the years. They truly have pioneered in the field, and their products have been more than well received.

Right, the stock probably hasn't come in yet because its a group buy. If they sell 179 of them, then they will order 189 or something, in case of RMAs.

I'm still here on ECF... sort of. ;)

Yes, received my clone....and it seems to be working fine.

I will post some comparison picturs, and some differences I found. This is the clone from 3fvape. transit time to europe: 11 days.

First impression: it works fine, no issues with: buttons, scratches, working in watt or temp mode, 510 threading/connection, battery cap threading/sitting flush.

Differences:
- Clone only does Farhenheit in temp mode, original also does Celsius
- Clone has clickier fire button ( I actually like original button better)
- Clone has brighter screen and logo
- In temp mode clone needs to be set to 500F/30W to get about the same vape as original at 430F/30W, this compares to SX mini when it is set at about 350F/25J
- Clone has springloaded 510, original has adjustable 510
- Clone weight 175grams, original is 180grams (incl. battery)
- battery cap clone sits about 1/2mm recessed, original sits flush
- box clone has plain lettering, original has silver lettering and different font
- clone has different screws than original
- up/down button are reversed: clone right is up, original right is down
- after leaving the clone alone for a few minutes the voltage display turn to temperature display. It then shows the "ohm to high" message when firing. Does not seem to affect the vape. The original also switches to temperature, but switches back to voltage after a few seconds and does not show the message.

pics (sorry for some crappy shots): The one on the right is always the clone

I'll use it for a while, and if anything comes up I'll let you know.
So far I am actually pretty impressed...but only had it for about an hour.

Marvelous review/impressions, dru! I agree with you on most of it. My personal jury is still out on the clickiness of the buttons. I like the soft throw of the authie, but I'm really liking the clicky of the clown!

I'm also a bit confused. Not once have I seen the "ohm to high" message... on either the clown or the authie. Is this because I'm in standard wattage mode? (I have TC turned to off, and none of mine have ever reverted to TC mode.)

Thanks, SenBoy. It's signed, too. :D

The behaviour that leads to the "ohm to high" seems to be a bit intermittent.
I did get the temperature reading thingee and message yesterday after having used it for a while in temp mode, than I switched to a kanthal coil and when asked selected the "new coil"....although I was now using Kanthal it did revert back to temp mode that time..and I got the "ohm to high" message.

But after my tank was empty and I took it off to refill it once again asked me same coil/new coil. I once more selected new coil....and since then it has stayed in wattage mode and have not received the ohm message anymore......my guess now would be that it sometimes fails to process the "new coil" selection after having been used in temp mode or something.

drugarth ....

I have no desire to use this XvoStick as a Temp controlled device ... In fact, if all it did was just control the watts I had set into it (VW), I would be happy.

QUESTION: I wonder if someone was to use just Kanthal coils in the 1.4 ohm range, and never put this XvoStick clone into the 'Temp' mode ... do you think there would ever be a problem like you described (going all by itself into the Temp mode from the regular VW mode that I always use)?

I am thinking that if they would have just installed a simple / uncomplicated VW chipset in it like what the Innokin iTaste MVP 3.0 has, this device would be 100% less problematic.

Like the old saying goes ... "Keep it Simple-Stupid" :)

Well, I am still waiting to hear from someone that gets there hand on the Fasttech version of this device and see if they are having some of these same issues.

Someone on the Fasttech forum just posted the following concerning the XvoStick clone he just got from Fasttech:

"Even if you don't touch TC mode, Kanthal coils come out high and wobble ... a 1.7ohm coil reads between 1.9 and 2.1 ohms".

Well, if that's the case, when operating in the normal mode, that much of a variation in ohms is going to be too much in order to maintain a consistant vape.

Unacceptable!

If your looking for just a wattage mode side by side. I bought this from 3f and used it for a week while I waited for xvosticks to land. Zero issues with it but only 35 watts and no tc. My son in law has been using it daily for about a month with out any issues and it's less than 34 bucks

Just got the email notification that my Xvostick
Just shipped from FT
Via USPS EXPRESS. ??

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Let us know how that shipping goes. I ordered some silicone mod sleeves from FT, and it turned into a fiasco. USPS rejected it, and sent it back to China. They reshipped via Singapore Post. Got to the US again the 18th, and never reappeared on tracking so I thought it got rejected again, but it finally got here yesterday. Quite a mess over a $6 order.

I usually have pretty good luck with FT shipments, I just hope this isn't the exception to the rule
but I guess time will tell.....will certainly leave an update

I always have as well, but recently many of us had this issue. So hopefully that new shipping method works out well.

@Flt Simulation : I can't really say for sure how it behaves when you never use temp control, Kat never did and never had the message popping up I believe, but no guarantees...as I have used it in temp mode I can't test it anymore......but since my second tank switch (causing it to revert back to wattage mode) I have only used it in wattage mode and it hasn't been acting up anymore.
I plan to use it for a while only in wattage mode and see if it pops up again.

But if it does I really don't see as that big an issue...the vape is normal even if this occurs.

I do like that it also has temp control...I use both styles of vaping...I like to have the option if possible....for me this is still a solid buy
