If that's in Temp mode, I cannot say. If you mean in normal mode, mine have not produced that message ever. ("Ever" being tonite, as I just got them this afternoon)
@Kat: Would be nice you can describe the material of buttons = aluminium or? stainless steel. Thx.

@Jonner: what mod is that?
edit: googled it and it seems a DIY mod?

And another question: for some of us the clone was shipped around the same time (around 15th of october), did your tracking update on the 3fvape site? Mine has not changed since leaving china on the 17th.....wondering if that's normal

Hey Dru - are you checking the USPS site, or the one 3F sent you? If you're not already, check the USPS site (same tracking number).

Shipped on the 15th, hit CA on the 20th for ours. Delivered on the 22nd.

Oh Skot!!!!!! Oh man, so is the life of the vaper and vaperette. By the way, I'm pretty sure that was yours I saw tonite, , ,

near LAX!

Jeez, kick a man when he's down. Just kidding, my authentic is working fine, I bought the ClownStick merely for cosmetic reasons. My authentic is the brass/black version because that's what was available when I chose to buy (eBay). I personally think brass only looks good with wood and tacky with the black. On a side note, the seller on eBay was super close (as in next town over) to VapinArt. So I'm theorizing that the seller is either attached to VA somehow or purchased it from them because I've had zero issues with my XvoStick, even with me dropping it roughly 17 times a day.

I don't like brass either. In fact, I hate it. But having a perfectly working XvoStick makes me not even notice the brass.

I tracked ours the entire way, using the USPS site. I actually posted a link in this thread, somewhere way back.

I've done the same many times, from many countries. If it didn't register there, I'd contact 3F. Does it show picked up, or just the initial scan result?

the 3f tracking shows it has left China at the 17th.....after that no more updates....but our local postal agency uses different tracking numbers....so I suppose that's why tracking is lost...I'll wait for another week or so...and than take some action if nothing happens...

Yeah. It's normal to disappear from their tracking, once it leaves their shores, but it SHOULD show up at:
https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input

And yours is showing nothing there? I don't like that.

No it's not showing, my tracking starts with the letters RG, first time I had that combo, usually I get LZ or RS....
But not the first time something dissapeared from the tracking map, so not freaking out just yet :D (and it hasn't been that long in transit, so I'll give it some more time...hehe no not impatient at all )

RG is a new one on me too. My internationals almost always are "L" then numeric. Very strange.

+1 for sx350j in xvostick...DNA40 board is only thing that made me hesitate...still glad I bought it though :)

I did some research and RG is apparently China Post (as far as I can tell, and it also shows up with China Mail tracking)..I tried tracking through 17track, but also no updates since it left china...guess it just is still in transit and not worried yet. Was just curious if it was normal for tracking data not to be updated (usually I can track packages from US or fasttech packages right till my front door).....guess I can expect a suprise visit from the mail man when it get's here :)

A picture (or 5 ) says a thousand words?

Sorry for the lack of focus and the rush job posting these here... I'm late!!!

There ARE noticeable differences in the buttons. Not only material, but shape as well.

Hope this helps!

Oh Skot, I am sowwy. :)

And I agree...... the brass works with wooden mods... SO much better.

Preliminary impressions of my counterfeit from 3F. /lol I also have an authentic and for better or worse that is my point of reference so please humor me. Only three draws after a lube job with DeOxit It Gold.

IT FIRES! /lol

Finish is OK but not as sticky as the authentic. Should be fine
All three buttons are sticky. They don't actuate as smooth as the authentic. Will break in I hope
The 510 is spring loaded.
The 510 threads are garbage. Very very crunchy
Confirmed on my unit that the chip is counterfeit and fails the easter egg test
USB charge port works and feels about average
No bat or button rattles
Bat cap sits flush
I will only run in power mode and currently using a VCT5.

EDIT: Great pics Kat. You are in charge of pics. NICE :)

About what I expected and for $51 bucks whats not to like.

HTH

I agree that the 510 threading is iffy. I run 2 Kayfun Monsters on mine and will not switch from them because of the threading. I had a similar issue with a Sig mini and it has been fine as long as I stick with the same couple of toppers. I also only run it in power mode and am running it with a Samsung 30q. Don't have issues with burnt hits so don't see the point of TC. My fire button did not rattle when I first got it but it does now. I am at 17 days now and am more than satisfied with the clone. Pretty well never leaves my hand. The bigger question is will it hold up over time. If I get 6 months from it, I will be fine with that. I would want much more than that if I had bought an original. I will end up ordering another clone down the road. Hopefully, they will fix up some of the issues by then.

I want to take 1 of mine apart to clean the paint off where the 510 plate screws into.

Two issues.... I have unscrewed the 510 plate off but the positive wire is too short. The board and screen both are held in place with a little bit of glue. Hot glue maybe? Did I read you can use a hair dryer to soften up the glue. Would this do no harm to the screen?

It looks like the 510 plate is screwed into the top half then positive wire is soldered to the pin then the board is inserted into the bottom half.

So the question is.... will no harm come to the screen if I use a hair dryer to soften up glue holding the screen to bottom plate?

Thanks...

You're very kind, SB, but those pics were rushed and not to my liking. :( I will do more at some point if someone wants to see something specific in the difference between the two.

Your comments about it are quite a bit aligned with my own, for the most part.
  • the finish feels nearly identical to me
  • the buttons on the CLONE clown are actually clickier and more responsive than the authie. (Then again, for those that remember, I had MAJOR issues with the buttons sticking on the authie.)
  • the threading initially was HORRID. Crunchy -- and then some. In fact, I could NOT screw in a Kabuki or a Naughty tank. I almost gave up at that point. I then put in some Cerotanks and some GS Air tanks, all of which had far less problem screwing in, and eventually felt like they went in perfectly. (more on that, later*)
  • I have no idea what the easter egg test is, and hope that you tell me prior to Springtime. ;)
  • some tanks have a distinct wiggle and need to be tightened into the plate far more than I would like

*After inserting and removing the Cerotanks and GS Air tanks a few times, I thought to retry using a Kabuki and a Naughty. It seems those first tanks assisted in "chasing the threads", and after which, the Kabuki and Naught DID fit in just fine, albeit still not a great transition.

Having said that, it's still not a smooth fit, or an easy fit. I have no guess as to the longevity of the threads, but it was certainly not love at first screw. Ummm....
