Oh, gotcha.
So, have any of these brass-haters found a fix for it yet? I dont necessarily 'hate' brass, for me its more about the maintenance. Brass tarnishes, SS doesnt for the most part. Id rather not have to do a routine button polishing, but i respect those who like brass and do so for aesthetic purposes.
Besides ordering it in the device straight off miniecig, i dont see an easy way to switch over, besides the clone method i mentioned(or another authentic, but why lol)
I wish Chels would offer the SS buttons as spares, i dont see it on his site or anywhere online
Because I don't want to risk anything getting inside, via the buttons, I've opted to just live with the patina on them. I do clean the battery cap though, to keep that shiny. The buttons don't show all that much anyway, since they're low.
@TheWestPole provided some marvelous & detailed instructions for cleaning the buttons safely (earlier in this thread), but patience & coordination are not my strongest points. So bring on the patina!
Since Mini no longer sells this model (amazingly so), the best bet is probably to send them a message (via their website, not via ECF). They might sell you a set (be patient). I don't even want to risk taking mine apart, for fear of messing up the hermetical seal (at the 510 pin). There was one report of a potentially serious issue, caused by juice getting inside, by one user who HAD taken theirs apart (just to thoroughly clean his Xvo).
Since the value of the Xvo (for me) is the shape, hand feel, and performance (vs. the aesthetics), I'm OK with the less-than-perfect buttons on my brass one.
Which, I guess is a little easier said when there's a SS one sitting right next to it. So, "not really fair" (I get it).
I'd be interested to hear what you decide to do, assuming you decide to do anything at all.
This thread has served as a fairly decent informational stop for owners, and potential owners, so feel free to share whatever experiences you may have; be it with this issue or any other.
