Okay, everything I ordered is finally here.
REO Grand
IMR 18650 3.7v 1600mAh battery x2
Charger
510 cartomizers x10

Once my cartomizers arrived today with the e-liquids, I was like a kid at christmas. I immediately opened my cartomizer and put it on my REO Grand! I did the YouTube 2-second squeeze, and false hit to load the cartomizer. I hit the button for about a second or two before taking my first draw.

EWWWW. it was a mouth full of liquid

Okay, maybe I squeezed to hard? Too long?

I pulled the cartomizer off and blew out some of the e-liquid in to a paper towel.

Now, I am doing approximately a 1 second squeeze.

Much better, however I still get liquid from time to time.

So, I go back to the videos and remove the white cap in the cartomizer so I am not drawing from the sponge type element in there.

Then I go back to reviewing videos. Drip tips? Will they help?

Drip tips help a lot. The single most helpful thing for you, though, will be to master the blind squonk. Lightly push on the bottle while gently drawing on the atty/carto without firing - as soon as you feel a little resistance and/or hear a gurgle, you're done. Let it sit a second and then vape away. Before long, you'll be able to do this without even thinking about it (much less paying any attention to it) and then it's just vape vape vape all day long.

I think Drip tips will help. But also...you may want to let up on your draw a little. If the draw is just too tight, you can drill out the holes...right above the threads on the connection, to see if that helps. I recommend only drilling one at a time. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/183433-drilling-out-holes-atties.html

Trying what I can best describe as a reverse flute hit. Picture it as if getting ready to play a flute and instead inhaling the vapors as it comes out of the cartomizer. Seems to work for now.

Good....it may take a few days to find a technique that works for you. Essentially, you shouldn't have juice in the mouth when vaping a REO. It happens to me maybe once or twice a month when I get too "squonk" happy and flood my atties.

Here is another thread with another person's perspective on what works for them...maybe it will help. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/296053-fine-art-squonking.html

Drip tips are not a necessity, but many of us have found that we enjoy the way the vapor flows and in some cases, certain drip tips do change the way the flavor is perceived. In my case, I like the glass drip tips....I feel like I'm getting a cleaner flavor from them. But there are so many different kinds out there...plastic, aluminum, stainless, glass & pyrex, ceramic, and even wood & composite. And there is a multitude of shapes they come in as well. Again, its a personal preference thing. I won't vape without them.

It will, for sure. The ones you ordered from Rob are plastic, so there should be little to no heat transfer at all. Some aluminum and stainless tips do transfer the heat so be aware if you decide to order those. The glass ones don't transfer heat either. I've never had the pleasure of trying a ceramic tip so I don't know how they do, but I'm guessing they behave in a similar manner as the glass tips.

Here's an idea...
If you have a carto condom...they usually come already on the carto.... take an Xacto and cut a hole in the top of it, slide it over your carto and that should put some distance between you and the heat. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about...this is an atty with the condom on it.

Genius! I took the longer condom that came on it and cut the blanked off end off of it.
I let it overhand the end of the cartomizer just over 1/4".
A small slit in the side of it (like a straw with a crack in it) and I can draw quite normally.

I do so love a low-tech solution to a high-tech problem. Don't let this quick fix rob you of the obsessive compulsion to collect drip tips, though! Sooo many nice ones out there!
