I'm glad to be here.

Quickly let me cut to the chase because I can easily churn out essays.... I'm a pad smoker (Marlboro Smooths) that still enjoys it but looking out for my health (and the smell of me and my belongings ;)), so ecigs, vaping seems like a logical transition. I first tried a 21st Century disposable (menthol) and HATED it. Very nasty... oh well, I tried, back to analogs.

Last week circumstances led me back to an attempt at ecigs (date with new lady lol)... well, the Blu brand looks sleek, let me try it.

I loved it, since then I'm already down to 5-7 regular cigs a day, and I probably don't need that many.

The problem now is, what's next? Buying disposables almost daily is not cheap, yet I don't want to go back to buying packs (only been buying loose Newports in times of emergency). I've actually been contemplating this all day today til I came home to find my free Apollo disposable in the mail. And I actually like this one the best so far... very pleasant.

So here I am, pouring through all this information, looking for any help, ideas, tips or leads I can gather. I'll be doing my due diligence as well. I'm also curious as to what to expect financially in switching from a PAD to full time vaping, I plan on taking the dive and buying a starter kit in a week.

Thanks!

The eGo twist is probably the best way to go for a newbie. The threads work with almost everything out there, and most people agree they are worth having, even in an advanced vaper's collection. If you are looking for a kit, try Valley View Vapes - they have a nice twist starter package going that comes with a nice collection of goods (a couple vision clearos, a nice polypro carto tank, two twist batteries, charger and case) for a decent price.

So, once you've got that set, juice is all you need. Tastes are subjective, so try a bunch of different vendors. There's a plethora of links around this forum, have fun. And relax, you'll for sure be spending less than you would on cigs, especially in the long run.

Welcome bud, and good luck on beating the stinkies :)

For a battery I always suggest a Variable Voltage (VV). How big depends on your need. MAH is the rating on them that will determine how long between charges you go. So if you want to go all day get one in the 1000 mah area. Vaporizers are dependent on what you like. I'm partial to clearos or the vivi nova but if you change flavor a lot or don't need a load of vapor a carto should do just fine. If you want to go all day on one atty I'd go with a Tank or a clearo. A clearo will be a top feed with wicks going into a tank. A regular tank is basicly a carto with I big base and a hole in the bottom inside of a tank of some kind. They last longer.
Volts and resistance combine into a wattage. Most use between 4-8 watts but some go higher. here is a useful chart.

Hi new comer, to the greatest forum you will ever need.!! Listen.. stop the butts.no need of them.. Get yourself to a local dealer if there is one, if there is not, then go to vaporcloud or madvapes.com.. order a ego twist battery and cartomizers to go with it. done deal.. vape your liquid (e-juice) from hmmmm, the same company, vaporcloud, or madvapes. do you like vanilla? do you like coffee, do you like, fruits?, whatevtr you like to taste in your mouth for any reason, order it.. let me know how you do, it's so fun and so riduculously time consuming, but worth every single minute of it.. !

I agree on the eGo Twist, but NOT the Bolt. The Bolt is not voltage adjustable, and I feel being able to adjust voltage is very important. The Vivi Nova is a good starter tank. The Mini Vivi Nova fits the eGo very well, in appearance, that is. There are other choices including tanks that use cartomisers.

You will also need juice. ECBlend carries some very good juice IMO, and their prices are reasonable.

On batteries: 100 mAh equals about one hour normal usage. A 1000 mAh eGo Twist will keep a charge for about 10 hours.

Agreed, I started with an eGo kit. Another starter option is the Bolt, but it is bigger. What is your preferred form factor?

Different tastes for differnt folks... I tried and hated the Blu's ... Tasted too much like tabacco for me and not mentholish enough. I struggled through the disposables, then the rechargables with disposable tips (generically called 510 type e-cigs) and made it to the 4 month mark with no real ciggies... Then first of last month, I bought a mod with a big battery and haven't looked back. I was burning through 2x510 batteries while at work, and buying disposables to supplement when I went out after work, ended up with a collection of 4-5 rechargables and went through 100+ tips at $10-15/wk. Wasn't as bad as my $35 for real ciggies but after 20 weeks it was about $250...

You should be able to find an ego starter kit and some nice juice choices for around $100 ... Then if that works out for a month or so, move into a better mod ... JMHO, but that is a much better way to go than the lil ciggie looking jobs...

I had 2 eGo 1000mah non twist and each one didn't last 10 hours before noticeable vaping degradation, I went up to the 18650's they last me much more than a day.

I'll disagree on the VV, just because what is important to me is the feeling of smoking and the nicotine and non VV delivers just fine for me. All personal preference.

What OHM head do you use? With a vv, one can use different OHM heads, and adjust their vaping experience. That is my take on variable volt models.

I also said 100 mAh pr hour NORMAL vaping. Someone who vapes heavily will not get ten hours from a 1000 mAh battery.

Using 1.8 heads. Just not interested in adjusting at the moment, not sure if I ever will, but again personal preference. I'm a simple guy and I don't have to think about much other than refilling and changing heads :)

I mentioned the battery life as an example of it not lasting for average use.

Does using VV drain the battery more or is it just related to voltage and resistance you're using?

if your really stuck on blu you can buy from the website as they sell kits, if you really want to move on well im sure you will have a million and one recommendations in 3...2...1...

Not that stuck... I've read enough to learn that Blu's are like the "Fisher Price My First Vape" for many people

I'd rather skip that step as best as I can....

Plus I read a few comments from people who felt the kit version was a huge let down from the disposable. I hear alot about burning and I think I've even seen it in the disposables.

My first e-cig was a cigarette type 808. It just didn't do it for me. Thank god I found ECF. Lots of helpful people here. I took the next step, and bought me an ego. One year later, after saving my pennies, I bought me a Provari. I believe that a ego or kgo should be the next step, Because of the price point. You really want to make sure vaping is right for you before you invest 200.00 on a advanced PV. Also flavors, It took me awhile to find my all day vape, but when I did it really helped me get over the stinkies. Good Luck.

Buying a rechargeable electronic cigarette will be MUCH cheaper than buying disposables.
And buying bottles of juice to refill your electronic cigarette is MUCH cheaper than buying prefilled cartridges.

And if you are really motivated, making your own juice is MUCH cheaper than buying it.
I am not that motivated, and never will be, but many just love making their own.
:)

As long as the size doesn't bother you, I would echo the recommendations for the Ego Twist battery.
The hard part is going to be figuring out what juice delivery method you want to use with it.

I'll share what I started with when I started vaping 3+months ago.

I ordered a kit with 2 ea eGo C upgrade 1000 mah batteries, a wall charger and usb charger. It came with tanks and atomizers. I hated the tanks, they leaked. So I ordered some clearomizers. I've tried about 5 different kind of clearomizers and my favorites are these
http://www.heathersheavenlyvapes.co...n_page=product_info&cPath=2_7&products_id=145

Order A LOT of sample juices. That way you won't be stuck with something you hate. I started with nic level of 24 mg, I originally smoked a pack and a half a day. I used that for a month and then went down to 18 mg.

Probably the things that I like about my eGo c upgrade the MOST is that I can plug it in to my computer. Also the 'upgrade' is it has a 2nd higher voltage mode option.

You can read about it here. http://www.thevapestore.com/products/joye-ego-c-upgrade-passthrough-900mah

I just got a Vision Spinner from here http://www.ecigcharleston.com/Visio...Go-1300mAh-p/vision-spinner-1300mah-black.htm

I LOOOOVVEE this thing! I got it in blue. It's the same length of my eGo C but thicker. It feels great in my hand.
