HI guys, I have been lurking on the forum for a bit today, reading all kinds of great information. What a great place to come and find support!

I am about a 15-ish year smoker, and I smoke about 3.5 packs a week of light cigs. This addiction is fierce and crippling to me. I HATE IT.

I finally decided to look in to the e-cig after seeing a couple friends succeed with it. They were using the drugstore brand, and I did some research and found people saying the ones you buy off the internet were better made.

So I hit Google, and like so many have found, I was suckered into the V2. I guess the marketing and the reviews I saw strewn everywhere sucked me in, and knowing nothing about anything, I went with it and ordered my Starter Kit. It will arrive Tuesday.

Now, after reading these forums and seeing what the vets say about V2, did I waste my money? Am I going to fail? LOL

Thanks new friends! Looking forward to ridding my life of cigarettes.
Andrea

I don't have any personal experience with V2, but I almost went with them myself. The only bad thing I've really heard is that sometimes their shipping can take a while and that's what made me decide to keep looking. You should be ok, but if you don't like them it says on their website that they do have a 30 day money back guarantee on their kits...
Just a side note, I was just looking at their site and it shows to charge the batts from a USB port on your computer. I wouldn't do that. I've heard horror stories of people frying the USB port in their PC. I always charge from a wall adapter. If your kit didn't come with one, you can use any USB wall adapter from WalMart (or if you have a spare lying around from an iPhone or something like that).
(just noticed your from PA also! :toast: Lol)

I smoked the e-cigs from the walgreens, 7-11 or any place else i could find them. then went on the web and bought BLU for about 3 months. Then when looking for something else, i stumbled onto a website selling e-cigs. I was blown away by all of the choices! I am still not smoking cigs, and now i am having fun blowing money on all kinds of cool vape toys.
The deal is what ever works to keep you away from the cigs is a good move. You are never stuck with anything. For 25 dollars go get something new and see if you like that. It is still cheaper that a carton of cigs a week!!

I'm not even entirely sure how often or how many puffs at a time I'm supposed to do. I guess I'll figure it out.
Ha, I forgot about that... When I first started I ended up giving myself a stomach ache from too much nicotine lol. With a cigarette you know when you're done because there's nothing left but the filter. With an e-cig I found myself forgetting to put it down and would sit there straight puffing on it for like 30 min. Just remember, when ya feel the craving take a few puffs, but remember to set it back down for a while lol...

Lol. Good advice. So if I smoke a cigarette every couple hours typically, do I vape in those same increments? Sorry for the dumb questions. :)
Not dumb at all... I used the philosophy of using an e-cig just like I used regular cigs. I still went outside to the smoke area on breaks at work, I set it in an ashtray while at home, and only used it when I would have normally smoked. Keep all your little smoking "rituals", makes it easier to make the switch at first. As I got more used to the idea of "I'm not smoking, I'm vaping", when I got the craving I would take 2 or 3 puffs then set it down for a while. If that didn't kill it then I'd take 2 or 3 more then set it down again. You just have to kinda feel it out for you though, different strokes for different folks lol. There's no wrong way to vape. Like tyancey00 said, whatever works for you to keep you off cigs is good...

I'd say vape whenever you feel like it.

:)

In other news: I wouldn't worry too much about the basic kit you happen to start with. At this point in your vaping career, you really have no idea what you'll like or not like later on, so why spend gazillions of dollars at the get go? I'm sure the V2 will work well enough to get you started, and that's all good.

Congratulations on deciding to quit!

Thanks so much you guys! I feel better jusy talking this out. Wish me luck next week. I'm going to throw out all my reg cigs when I start. I have very little will power. Lol.
I'd almost say keep your cigs. Think of them as a crutch. I hear of a lot of people say they threw away their cigs, then got frustrated because something didn't work or a battery died, so the went right back to cigarettes. Give it time, feel it out, and after a while you will not want a cig at all after you realize how horrible they taste lol. If you do have a cig here or there don't beat yourself up, it's no big deal. Quitting smoking, even with e-cigs can be stressful, so (to steal a line from GrimmGreen who has great review vids you YouTube) Keep Calm and Vape On!!!

Oh, one more question. Do I suck and inhale the e cig the same as a regular cigarette?
I do, sort of. You don't have to draw as hard on an e cig, just light puffs. Also, take a couple "primer puffs" (the way you would if your cigarette is going out). Seemed to me on the "cig-a-likes" a couple primer puffs and a light slow draw gave me the most vapor. Some people straight inhale like they would on, ummmmm, "other" smokeables lol... Just what ever feels right for you...

Welcome to ECF firstly, and your journey here is only measured by your will power and need for newer shinier devices.

My second vapor was a V2 so you're one ahead of me.

I found it massively better than my first but we all need to start the journey somewhere.

And in answer to the quotey bit yes you do. The frequency and length of the "drag" are, in my opinion, completely different from cigarettes. Your will power may dictate a higher mg level to satisfy your needs to begin with but over time you might bring the strength down. Personally 24mg does it for me with no intention of going lower.

Good luck and keep us posted.

You didn't waste your money. And you're Not Going to Fail.

Is it going to be the Last e-Cigarette your Every Buy? Probably Not.

But that Doesn't Matter. What matters is you Switch from Regular Cigarettes to an e-Cigarette.

BTW - Finding a Good e-Liquid that you like is More Important than what type of Battery / Cartomizer you use.
