As the xtar charger says "China's got quality!" Nothing Chinese ever fails.
Ha ha just kidding but in all honesty most Chinese mods are built pretty well. If they had a high failure rate there would be hundreds of these incidents every day. But I'm not sure what you meant by failure. Blowing up or just not working anymore? Either way, they're pretty good nowadays.

I'll give you the fact that I don't have hard data, just antidotes gathered here and personal experience. But then I'd like to see your data to support that failures are usually user error.

I was referring to this specific case as being user error.
However, every single photo of an exploded mod that I have seen here or on the news showed clear evidence of user error.
In fact, I dont recall a single one that didnt ( though there may be some I havent seen).
Ive repaired mods for several shops and have over 100 in my collection.
Ive touched more mods than most modders so Im not just talking out of my airhole.

Ill be clear in closing:
The exploded pile of mod in the OP shows signs of user error or intentional destruction.

Being Chinese made has nothing to do with it.
Your IPhone is Chinese made.

It really depends on how you define "user error" I guess.
As far as I can tell, there is a vast expanse of possible "user error" situations.

Many people will insist that pretty much everything is and call everyone stupid.
And many people will say that not much of it really is.

Again, it depends on how you define it.

How would you define people charging their devices @ 1 or 2 amps on their PC USB 2.0 ports after being told there's a chance they're going to fry their motherboards when it takes out a bus line?

User error?

Or no?

Because A TON of people on this site insisted on doing this.

And how many people on this site you think are afraid to disconnect the negative terminal on their car battery for fear of what will happen...

But have no qualms at all winging it with a technology that's pound for pound multitudes more energy dense and inch for inch many times more capable of power output?!?!

While I see your point on the insulting manner, I disagree that it's a sliding scale.

Most times it's very black and white. You either screwed up and your battery went hiss, you screwed up and your battery didn't go hiss, or you didn't screw up.

ETA: Ignorance of the law is inapplicable as a defense in court and applied physics as well.

You get caught breaking the law in either case and eventually the law is going to bite back.

I don't know for sure what caused this last venting. I just questioned why the battery that looks the most damaged seem to be from inside the mod and there's an, apparently, undamaged battery some distance from it.

I've also never said that the Chinese "couldn't" make quality products, but most of our vaping gear is sourced from China because they can make them cheaper.

If a person understands how much power is stored in these batteries...
And understands that things can go wrong...
Then sure, user error.

Otherwise, no.

At least that's how I define it.
Others have different definitions, as I've previously noted.
Then you're wrong.

Period.

Screwing up isn't defined by our knowledge or intelligence.

Solely by our actions.

It's an easy concept to teach your wife if you wanted to. If she's willing.

1 lead acid wheel chair battery = 3 to 9 18650 cells.

Including the potential for danger.

So if I buy a Ford Mustang gt-350 and lose control I can blame Ford; because the dealer didn't tell me that 429 lb-ft torque can cause the rear end to kick out and lose control? No because part of buying a high performance car is learning how it handles. If I cut myself with chef's knife can I sue the company for not warning me too!?

I think I already addressed ridiculous comparisons many posts ago.

My wife doesn't vape, so why should I teach her?

Oh, maybe because she uses lots of other batteries that could blow up.
Why doesn't she already know then?

Why do I have to teach her?
Not my problem.

Useless in this discussion.

Emotion only argument.

Irrelevant.

Let's stick to merit and fact.

We're not arguing whether my 6 yrs old should get a participation trophy when his team loses.

Useless in this discussion.
You completely missed my point.

Why would I have to teach her?
How could she POSSIBLY NOT KNOW?

The fact that she doesn't know IS the point.
It's the entire point.

EDIT:
What you call user error I call failure to educate.
Hence the concept of different definitions.

How is that a ridiculous comparison? RWD cars are pretty common, and many people don't know that they have far less traction than fwd/awd. Where I live there's always 2x more accidents with rwd cars and trucks than fwd because people are not informed on how they handle. If a battery vents in your' pocket it's %100 user error, it's not LG's fault, it's not Joyetech's fault, it's your' fault for not studying.

That is not the same thing at all. Try again.

No actually it is.

Which makes every one of my points.

We're arguing the definition of error or user error.

And if she doesn't know, she's going to make more of them.

This applies to anything she (or any one of us) does.

When I fried my first car stereo installing it, I didn't blame the manufacturer for my ignorance despite my near genius I.Q..

I accepted my error and lack of knowledge, saved up and bought a new one, did some research and installed the next one right.

But when *I* did it wrong it was MY ERROR. ;)

ETA: The mfr didn't put loose cells in this person's pocket. ;)

Knowledge or not... user error.

NOBODY ever taught me to drink water.

There's no warning on the river behind my house.

Yet A LOT more people ACTUALLY DIE each year by drowning from their beverage than when their battery in their mod vents.

I'm searching for a course now.

Because I'm obviously going to die soon.

Is that really true? Do you have any stats on that?
Because if so, you might have a decent point in that particular case.

Google isn't helping me right now.
Water Intoxication I already knew about, but not finding anything else.
