My name is Molli, and I live in the backwater known as Dubuque, Iowa. I've been vaping since the 20th of January, in the hopes of finally quitting smoking. I'm either NOT doing this right, or I needed to smoke a whole lot less! I can make one cartomizer of '16' last me four days.... I just ordered my first two bottles of 'juice' in '8' and some blanks to try DIY. For some odd reason my husband thought this would be cheaper than analog cigs....silly man, he didn't figure in the initial outlay....lol :p

Hi Molli! Welcome to ECF! Don't worry you finding this forum is a big step in the right direction to all your questions. I'm a little confused by your post .. Are the numbers you are stating nic levels? And are you looking for DIY juice help or finding the right hardware setup help? Need more info. Will check back on you.

you don't give specifics-some people want to make vaping a pasttime, others like myself just want e cigs as a vehicle to quit altogether
my personal experience was trial and error, at first buying cheap inferior batteries and supplies, then breaking down and just buying what worked properly and simply, a two piece e cig, for me it was the 808 batteries and cartos from vapor for life.
now it has been about two years since my last analog and one year since my last ecig.
good luck.

welcome to the show! I am pretty new here as well, but been analog free for almost 8 weeks now. I started the lame-ish way with a cigalike - Blu/V2, but have recently got an evic and a few tanks...

I am having the opposite reaction in that I feel like I am vaping too much! (was a pack/day guy)

It has taken me a little bit of time to find my footing with vaping - and yes the initial outlay is more $ but It will taper off once you get in the groove of finding all that works for you.

Good luck

Oh, sorry, those are nicotine levels. (Like I said..newbie. :) ) I guess I'm looking for hardware setup help. It's so confusing with 'carts' 'tanks' 'blanks' etc. I currently have one 808 battery and a 'discontinued' one which I think is a 510 with an adaptor. (Hubby went with 'cheapest starter kit he could find') from "Premium" I ordered 2 bottles and a pack of blank cartomizers from litecigusa. That way if I have totally mucked it up, I am not out a lot of money.

Welcome Molli, Yes the initial out of pocket can get expensive. but in the long run your not only saving money, but also you, and your husbands life.

That's what I told him. He quit smoking cold turkey 13 yrs ago. After smoking for 40+ years, I'm finally ready to quit, and I think vaping is the way for me to go. :)

Don't give up! There's quite a lot to learn, but you can do it quickly and easily. I think finding your nic level is a good start. Keep reading don't be afraid to ask people, it's a new life that is like, in ways, not quitting anything that you really enjoy about cigarettes.

The husband just didn't think it through all the way honestly. :) He figured get the starter kit and that was it, Done, finished. Um, no. I bought more cartomizers since the kit only came with 5. AND a case to carry the ecigs in, a spare battery, and the juice and blanks I am waiting on. I've spent LESS than $100 total so far, including the starter kit that was my birthday gift.

Hi Molli
Is price a big consideration? Because the options can be so overwhelming. Do you care how it looks? Does it need to be a cig a like? what kind of cigs were you smoking and ( brand and strength) and how much.

I was smoking full flavored generic menthol, around a pack a day. I like the look and feel of the 'cig like' one that I have now. As long as I can spread it out over a period of time, price isn't that big a deal. I'm actually 'smoking' a lot less, since I can just take a 'drag' or two off the ecig and be done, not wasting a whole analog cig when all I wanted was just a drag. I think I"m looking to get into the e-juice area now, as I've found some flavors that sound intriguing and don't come ready made in cartomizers.

Welcome to ECF, glad you can join us :) Did you know you can pop the top cap of a cartomizers and drip any type of liquid in it, it just take a paperclip. Just don't mix menthol with other type of liquid because it will taste menthol forever in a cartomizer.

Here's the first thing. Do not look for something that is going to taste or look just like your analogs. Throw that out the window. That's the big mistake I made. I found a tolerable tobacco menthol flavor and vaped this exclusively for a month and a half. Big mistake ( I got vapor tongue. One day bam everything tastes terrible or you can't taste anything at all ) Hardware I will leave up to more experienced veterans but I think an ego type and vivi nova would be good to start with for their ease or use. There are many great juice vendors out there and getting their sample packs is a great way to try a variety of flavors they offer. Plus the samples are usually pre steeped ( you can use right away) if you find ones you like you can order larger bottles of them. Keep in mind your taste buds might change dramatically in the first few months. So I wouldn't order too much ( just have enough not to run out ) I ordered 5 30 ml bottles of my menthol tobacco before I got vapor tongue. My tongue is back now after ten torturous days but I can't stand that same liquid anymore. Try several different reputable vendors ( go to e liquid discussions and see top five vendors or just read and you will see several same names keep coming up. ) I know it's a lot if info but you do have to put some time in and do a little research. I would try Heathers Heavenly Vapes, Alice in Vapeland, Alienvisions, Rawr, MrsTs bakery Backwoods Brew .. These are some of the top vendors Gl keep reading keep asking but most important Keep vaping! You can PM me for more questions :)

I did order a sample pack of cartomizers in assorted flavors. :) I really like the caramel one! I've discovered what you mean about the vapor tongue, but before it got bad. So now I'm switching off between the flavored samples and the menthol. Thanks to Zurd, I can now reuse the flavored ones when they run out! I'll be ordering an assortment probably from Alice as they have some I want to try. I really appreciate ALL THE HELP I am getting here.
