Yeah, Yihi needs to get there shiit together but dna peeps need to get there superiority complex in check. I own 5 dna mods, 2 of which I really like. Evolv really needs to get a proper power mode preheat LIKE EVERY NEARLY EVERY OTHER DEVICE OUT THERE! If not then I would appreciate dna snobs S..T..F..U

If you want a preheat for kanthal, all you have to do is create a kanthal profile in non teml dominant mode, and then you set up your preheat/boost as normal.

There is, for people who are intellectually honest, problems with both yihi and evolv.

The issue lies in that there are people who are such fanboys of a product that they can't even admit there might be issues others have with a product. Maybe these issues are no big deal to one user, but having some empathy for things that annoy another user would go a long way towards getting things fixed.

I will give you an example on both sides of the spectrum.

Yihi and their rattlesnake issue in Tc mode. No big deal to me. It is an issue for many, not for me.

Evolv not including feature set on the boards until recently. The insane amount of button combinations required to remember was out of control. This was also not a huge deal to me.

Both are issues that bothered some, not myself. However, I have some empathy for those on a Mac unable to use escribe. I have some empathy for those that thing the tank making noise sounds like finger nails on a chalk board. I will not defend a mod blindly because I believe it is perfect, God's gift to humanity, the perfect holy grail, etc as some have done in this very thread.

Every person's experience is different. Every person's preferences are different. What bothers me may not bother you and vice versa.

I cant stand the ui of the g class. For a few others here, it's no big deal. If someone decides to effectively talk down to me and treat me like I'm an idiot, demean me, etc, that is what I think is the issue.

Good thoughts.... my short comments are that anyone who wants to discuss what they see as issues, or dislikes for themselves, should post the same in the appropriate thread. If one takes issue with or dislikes something pertaining to Yihi it should be posted in the Yihi thread and if someone has issue with or dislikes something with, say a DNA, they should post in a DNA thread....You don't get things addressed by posting an issue or dislike about a DNA in a Yihi thread and vise-versa.... To me, it serves nobody to post Yihi stuff in a DNA thread and vise-versa. Personal attacks in any thread are unproductive (and against ECF Rules) and when they are posted I feel that the folks in that thread (be it a DNA, Yihi, or any other thread) should shut them down or report the offensive post.

Just my thoughts....

Oh I have my issues with both, trust me, I can't stand Evolv as a company, almost gave up on them a few times, & the dna40 was a complete, unmitigated disaster that cost me hundreds of dollars... and yihi, based on my recent dealings w/ them isn't much better. But I'd never not use a thing just bc the people who make it are douche nozzles.

But as far as boards go the new color screen dna's do everything I was hoping for the 550 (& smaller size). hopefully it'll force yihi to step it up a notch. As they should.

Personally I can't believe anyone really thinks YiHi visits these forums or these threads to gather information.

Yes, YiHi and others release 1/2 baked ideas and are very slow to fix issues (if at all).

Since there never has been any direct (or indirect) evidence that the OEM's visit this forum or these threads posts with thin justification that the OEM might see them are merely grandstanding, soapboxing and trolling.

    IMHO/YMMV.

If you want Yihi to know something then simply write directly to them. They have fixed a few issues I have personally reported (along with hopefully many others). They have added features by request like disabling the logo led and adding stealth mode. I have found them to be quite responsive to well crafted requests. Every month we get a new firmware and the device continues to be improved. I have even summarized requests from forums to bring to their attention as well. If they keep updating, I'll keep smiling. The hardware is outstanding, the software is getting there.

Manufacturers, suppliers, and etc. are not allowed to post in these types of ECF forums but they can read them, and they do. I know several mod makers and vendors and suppliers who never post here as it is against the rules but they do keep abreast of what is posted in many threads here in ECF (and other forums). I think there is a few folks here that do communicate regularly with Yihi so what is posted here can make it's way to Yihi and does.

I post here to toss ideas around and see if I am off base with something that bothers me. Maybe others have work arounds for the issue I am having.

Idk if they do or don't, but I know potential buyers read this stuff bc I did before I bought mine. At the time I could find very few negative opinions about the 550 and a lot of misinformation.

couldn't find it there, may have missed it, I know it is doable from the mod, but don't know how.
The font color change is hold the joystick up for 5 seconds. It doesn't work on wallpaper 1 and 2 though. There are only 2 other colors, yellow and blue I think, they need to make a black as well

If you want a preheat for kanthal, all you have to do is create a kanthal profile in non teml dominant mode, and then you set up your preheat/boost as normal.
I did do that on both my dna's but it is just ok, not great. The Finder dna167 actually came with a kanthal preheat setting already programmed but that was no better than the one I applied myself to my Triade.

    Thanks for the tip though

It seemed to work fine for me... ramped up quick enough w/ the preheat punch and all, a buddy of mine recently asked me to the same thing for him bc he still uses factory drop in coils and kanthal is so slow to heat up.

I don't use power mode (unless I'm burning crap off my coil), or kanthal so I thought the same thing at first but then I thought of putting a csv from steam engine for kanthal on there and setting up a profile for it in non-domimant mode.

Idk imo there are much better wires now, some of the NiFe's even have that kanthal flavor. It kind of sucks though I have so many spools of temco kanthal but no reason to ever use it. Maybe I'll build a toaster.
