This is the charger I use, it's very expensive, about 4x your typical budget charger but it makes batteries last about 20% longer on a full charge provide I use the 0.5 charge rate (this mode takes about 8 hours to charge a 2500 mah battery). It can trickle charge to bring back dead batteries, but this process can take several days, tho usually, only a few hours until it registers a voltage and is able to start charging normally. It also has a nice display with all the statistics you could want as well as charge discharge capability to see if the battery is holding its rated capacity.

Its expensive, but I don't regret the purchase.

I have that charger... i didn't realise it could bring them back after DAYS.. i only waited 10 minutes..

I'll give it a go thanks.

The firmware is the V4300 from February, the second release of the FW and the one it shipped with..Unfortunately yihi and dna need to get their act together and provide mac firmware updaters.. I thought i could do it from the ios app but you can't.

I'm trying to work out if screen coming back on is a firmware bug or a hardware bug i.e, a particular problem with my device that FW update can't fix.

One of the batteries did come back, the one that was showing the 1.5 volts.. it suddenly jumped to 2.6 and started charging... however i had no idea i was supposed to slow charge a dead battery, i put it on 1.5 amps LOL.. goes to show just how much i DON'T know about batteries!

Perhaps it would benefit to do the 500 ma charge drain charge capacity test? Would this be good for the battery?

PS if someone know that the FW update fixes the screen when off thing, it's not even a question for me, i will find a way to get it updated as i love this mod.

You might need to contact Yihi or the the manufacturer of the mod. I dont know how the 550J chips in devices outside the G-class work.

Try downloading the SXI software and firmware from here...

SXi-Q Driver/software-YiHi

They are different firmware
Alright. I tried the firmware from that site, and it didn't work. However, it points to what I was thinking from the beginning, which is that the mod has a very early version of the SX550J board in it.

When I tried to use the firmware from the sxmini website, I got an error message saying the file doesn't support the "SX550J" but the "SXmini G Class." That's why at first I thought it was Yihi not allowing updates on non yihi devices using the board. Using the firmware from the yihi website it instead says that it doesn't support the "SX550J" but the "YiHi SX550J."

It's the same error message you get if you try to use the 550J firmware on a 550A, which really makes it look like I just have an earlier version of the board. The firmware V1.801 is what initially brought that to mind, and it's looking more and more like that's the case.

You did notice the update package has a specific firmware file for the early 550A chip

Important Notice:

1.SX550A chip is the same as SX550J chip, just different production batches.

Before upgrading, please check the device information on SXi driver.

If your device is powered by SX550J chip, please upgrade with SX550J firmware.
If your device is powered by SX550A chip, please upgrade with SX550A firmware.

2.Please be sure to use this latest SXi-Q driver Version 2.8.3.1 (or higher versions) to upgrade your SXmini G Class.

3.When the device completed the first upgrade, it may shows" Please connect to the computer again and upgrade to new system", that means you can continue with the next step:

4.please unplug the USB cable & close the SXi.

5.Open the SXi & plug the USB cable. The device will be upgraded to new system automatically.

6.The device will be upgraded successfully, and the charging USB is on the screen, please click fire button 5 times or remove the battery and turn on the device then can be solved.

Found an RDA I that fits the Gclass perfectly, DeathTrap 30mm gunmetal

The Mac software should be out soon. It's in beta now.

I think DNA is working on it too but they now have customized themes on the 75C thus you can do almost anything from EScribe right on the device thus no need for ios or android connection

Hmm great news.. my g class has destroyed 2 BRAND NEW aspire 1800 mah.

All i did was not use it for a week, and it drained it so low (one of them to 1.4 volts, so the the chargers just assume li-mn and say "full", and the other to a level not one of my 5 chargers can activate it, even with so called dead battery activation functions).

I worked out what is doing it.. after i turn the device off, after about 30 seconds the screen comes back on in an ultra ultra low dim setting.. obviously this slowly drained the batteries and killed them.

Would it be fair to ask yihi for 2 new batteries? these cost me $30 AUD locally.

Also, i have heard of the dim problem elsewhere in this topic.. and this is the important question..

does anyone know if it is a HARDWARE bug, as some of the early carbon g classes had faults, or if it's a FIRMWARE bug that is corrected in latest firmware. If the latter I am happy to keep it and locate a windows computer to update it.. If the former, thank goodness it is still in warranty and i bought it from a wonderful store that honors warranty. (vape4life).

i would SO appreciate some guidance on this.

Kind regards,
T

I had the exact same thing happen to mine after I just got it in (see page 14 of this topic, follow ups a bi later in the thread), cost me a pair of sony vtc's. I talked to yihi and they were willing to replace my device in the end, I kept an eye on the device so that if it happend again (the dim screen after turning it off) I would replace it, but after I turned of bleutooth (don't use it anyway) it never happend again.
So I kept it, been a few months now and the problem hasn't reappeared.

My blutooth was never on when i first got it and it happened.

I am taking screenshots of this if you don't mind to show my vape store - i have also taken a realtime video of the screen coming back on, MINUTES after the device is switched off. These stores must think I am loony !
hence why all evidence helps.

So it's NOT a firmware issue, and yihi basically said it's faulty? Hmmm.. i'll try and update the FW this week and if it still does it, it's going back.. it really does sound like a hardware fault.

still many mac users with lots of non 75C devices ;)

Although the hcigar 75C is the only other mod i will be buying this year as it's pretty much on top of any wish list i may have :) That's going to be such an insane product. The think vape 75C is out now already, in black with africa select cover it looks gorgeous, but batts seem to be a PITA to get in and out. I really love the idea of a 75w parallel regulated mod.. it means you can use VTC6's in it and never have to worry abouts amps being exceeded, so MAYBE i will get that over the hcigar, but it's one or the other. I am just not sure about the therion's battery tray and getting the inner one in and out. Then again, there is no reason not to trust a 75c to do the charging especially if using a good usb power source, :)

For you guys with the dead batteries a charger like the Hohmbase with it's Battery Doctor mode will bring it back to life. They are hard to come by now though, so happy I got mine when I did, best charger I own hands down.

Some of the Xtar and Opus chargers will also revive batteries, I know my Xtar VC4 will. I hardly ever use the VC4, only when I run out of slots on my Hohmbase then efest Blu6 chargers.

I didn't see this before I posted. The Battery Doctor on the Hohmbase does the same thing but only costs $40 at IMR when there in stock.....maybe that's why there always sold out...lol

are they safe to use though? that's my next question.

I managed to revive both with the Xtar.. they are working.. but it says on page, never discharge them completely.. so i wonder if they are still ok to use and ..safe!

I have only had that happen with my old AW 18500 battery I use to use on my Provari. It continued to work until I stopped using the Provari, that's the only experience I have. I would definitely ask someone like @Mooch though, he would know.

wowee.. i just gotta say this.. yihi have already personally responded to me in detail and with such courtesy.. it would have been first thing their monday morning!

Not ONE other vape manufacturer including makers of expensive dna stuff and some other well known brands have EVER answered a single email from me.. this is the first time ever.. This automatically now makes yihi my number one vape brand no questions and all my money is to be saved for their devices from now on. I am so impressed, and i know one way or another, with local store i bought it from, or yihi themselves, it will be sorted.. finally getting to borrow a win machine tomorrow so will see if 6.7 FW fixes it anyway :)

I always get replies from them too. The underdog always tries harder and that's why I like them. :thumb:

It says "Made of Zinc Alloy, Kevlar, and Stainless Steel", no more carbon fiber, so guessing the cf is now Kevlar?
AFAIK the carbon fiber ones are still available, the kevlar is just a new option and self defense if you can move your hands fast like Wonder Woman....haha

If you already have an account with them log on, put the one you want in your cart and wait. Sometimes they send an email saying you left something in your cart and here is a 10% off coupon. Doesn't always work but it is worth a shot.

Brilliant! I just tried this to see and within a couple hours I got a 10% off code. Didn't try all the way through but looks good. About as much of a sale price you'll find I think for those interested.
