you guys asked for it and here it is.....how to take apart a zap

If you guys are talking about the center plastic piece being pressed in i can confirm 100% that it is pressed in and not threaded, let me know if you want pics. If im mistaken about what you guys are talking about or its old news please disregard my ramblings.

I just hope i can get a replacement plastic center section or I own an expensive paperweight.

the plastic piece is press fit in...we were talking about the post itself which is threaded into the delrin. contact provape and they will get you straight pronto. although fixing the plastic insert is easy to do but for some people it seems to be hard...it is just glued in. never had an issue with mine and it is almost 8 months old now, so i am of little use other than i know how it is assembled.

Do you remove and clean the black plastic piece as well? It seems pretty hard to remove and your pics and the video didn't show that piece being removed.

no the plastic stays there. do not take it out. unless you want to ruin the zap

I was able to get the spring out but not the contact pin. It stops right @ the threads at the top of the atty. Is it because it's dirty or could the plastic maybe be damaged/blocking it? I've tried forcing it through (I have an allen wrench and a nail that both fit in the hole easily from both sides) with no luck and don't want to put TOO much pressure on the plastic/threads.. I have it soaking in dish soap right now (hoping the "degreasing" will help). Any advice?

The contact pin should come out. I know that when the spring comes out the contact pin might get stuck at the top.

I usually use the blunt tip needle off the syringe that came with the ZAP. Try pushing that through the bottom 510 connection towards the top. Wiggle it around a little as well. Both my ZAP and ZAU contact pins come out with no issues. Let me know.

I used a syringe and allen wrench and bent both trying to push the contact pin through. The pin got jammed on the black plastic and I had to further bend the syringe/allen wrench to get it pushed back down to the bottom. It has free movement in the bottom area but gets jammed @ the plastic every time trying to push it out. I don't know if it just has that much crud on the edges of the pin so that it can't fit by the plastic or if the plastic is just bent/flared out @ the bottom (damaged) preventing the pin to come out.

Would soaking it in anything help? I tried dish soap but it didn't seem to make a difference.

soak it in alcohol, it might loosen up the pin....must be really crudy for it not to come out

It should not do that. Seems like you have done everything you can. Contact Provape. They should be able to help you out.
