Today I took a ride over to visit with my brother. They smoke like chimneys over there, so I whipped out my present stash and started vaping. My brother-in-law, with a cigarette in his mouth, looks at me and says, "You know that stuff can kill you, right?" I couldn't even get mad. I just started laughing. I looked at him and said, "And you're going to tell me that with a cigarette in your mouth?"

I just told him that I've done my research and it's not going to kill me quite as quick as his cigarette is going to kill him. I've been digging on the CASAA sight for information to print out and give to him. In fact, I think I'll just give him the link. [Heavy sigh]

My brother was all for it.

Good for you! I got a couple members of my family vaping now too. Once people get educated, they are all for it. I have to admit that a couple of years ago when I looked into it, I thought the same, but at the time, I think the e-Juices were all coming from China. When I looked into it this year I could see that a lot had changed and I could get organic and high quality e-juice made in the USA. Plus now there is a bunch of research out there that looks very favorable, especially in contrast to what we already know about the health effects of analogs.

I would not care what other people thought of my vaping. However, I love how you handled it! It was perfect!

Lol. There's a guy at work that smokes like a chimney (3 PAD) and he is a diabetic. He'll happily stand over your shoulder as you're trying to enjoy a tasty bag of chips or a snack cake and tell you how it's "poison" you're putting in your body.

Heh, good story! I like the laughing at them.... or with them approach and it is my method too. Seams to get their attention.

Another great line when dealing with a, let's say non receptive smoker about stopping the cigs is telling them, " I just started wondering how long I was going to getaway with it"............................. followed by, I respect your right to smoke and it doesn't bother me a bit.

I think it's probably better, and the info we have so far correlates, but the data just isn't in yet. Touting vaping like it's completely safe is a good way to make us all look like idiots.

I don't think anyone here is under the illusion that vaping is completely safe and risk free, its just mitigating the risk some what.

I know that nothing would be as good as filling my lungs with clean, fresh air, but it's about harm reduction for me, not harm elimination.

Like you, I feel that it's better based on the information I have, and I hope the science will eventually back me up. I also understand that it might not, but as I feel better because of my vaping, I'm okay with the risk to myself.

Not one person on this thread said a thing about vaping being completely safe. So how is it we look like idiots?
If anything the thread was about smokers lecturing about the dangers of e-cigs while they are sitting across from you smoking.

Where did the OP state it's completely safe? I'll answer for you - nowhere. In fact if you read the OP's post again you'll see he answered in the way you are advocating.

You'll find very few members on this website ever stating vaping is completely safe.

With all the negative propaganda and intentionally misleading information being provided to the general public under the guise of being "News", it's no wonder so many people have an unfavorable opinion of it. Truth and facts matter not where "perception" rules the day.

kickflipsnnollies - nothing is absolutely safe, so nobody should say that anything is. All we can say is that "it's safer than....". The ingredients for e-juice have been around for a long time. You inhale flavoring vapor every time you walk by a bakery or food shop in the mall, for example. There are no longer term studies on many of the ingredients in our food, nor on the long term effects of GMOs. Nothing is safe, all you can do is make your choices (pick your poison) and move forward.
