Hi!
I need to service my Young June's Lavatube 2.0 (the one with the eGo thread and cup).
I tried to remove that top cap but it's impossible without damaging the tube itself. I've read that L-Rider's model Top Cap is quite easy to be removed, but so far, I'm not aware of anybody having removed the top cap of Young June's LT 2.0.

Any experience? Or any ideas? Was it glued with a threadlocker perhaps?
Cheers,

Hi badinfluence357

Is this a YJ's LT? or a L-Rider (with the red on-off button)?
L-Rider's top cap is not so difficult to be unscrewed.

I tried to open mine's yesterday with a couple of "Boa Constrictor" strap wrenches but no way...
Then I used a plier over each strap and no way...and unfortunately I damaged the Chrome layer due to the FRICTION of the strap!!

Perhaps mine has some threadlocker? I'll give it another try by heating it with a hair dryier. If I'm lucky and it's a removable threadlocker, it should open after heating it.

I opened the LT 2.0 from young yesterday, look here for the pics: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wywe6lgbjjakboe/hoF3O_87YK
I want to repaint it, because the chrome is broken.
And install a new connection for the atomizer, the thread is broken..

For the disassembly, you need a vice with alu bakes and 2 cloths for the protection: http://www.feinewerkzeuge.de/schraubstock307782.jpg
A bunsen burner: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NOKrm0zxNM...senbrenner.jpg

Gently heat the closure lavatube and clamp quickly in the vise and pry while pulling.
Carefully so that the wires from the power button does not break off. I break one solder, but I could repair again it.

Subsequently assemble, is very tricky. You needs little chinese finger and much patience. :D

Good look!

Thank you very much astartes!
Very useful information, great pics!
Just what i thought, heat is needed in order to open the top cap.

By the way, be careful when "painting" you Lavatube, PG and paint are not good friends and it could peel off in just after a few days of normal use.
I recommend you to use a 0.2mm adhesive vinyl which can be molded with a simple hair dryer. You can buy a small piece at *bay for as litlle as 2Euro...

Cheers,

Are you laminate later the top cap with carbon?

No, I like it this way. Mine is shiny, so I don't need to add any vinyl on top of it.
Want I will do is make it slightly larger, just untill the beginning of the cone shape.
In your case, I would paint the top part in matt black and add the vinyl until the beginning of the cone shape too. Vinyl can not be adapted to 2 different radius, so I can not put it in that cone shape witout cutting some bits.

Look, I've just added a small piece to mine, just to take a picture and give you an idea of how it would look with the vinyl covering all the tube but the cone. This piece I've added on top was a scrap I had already dumped... ;)

By the way, if you also need to laminate the end cap (the one with the spring on it) I would use a Circular Cutter and make a small hole in the center. Piece of cake !

In my opinion, the advantages of this vinyl are good thickness (0.2mm), good adhesive (won't peel off easily), it has 3D texture (which gives you a good grip), it does not feel rubberish and, the trigger button is not so noisy now.

Cheers!

Thanks for the pics and the suggestion about applying heat. Had to take my apart to re-solder a wire as it stopped working.
I'm having a heck of a time getting the little buttons back in along with the circuit board. Do the buttons and the board go in together or separately? Any tips?

Try putting buttons in first, rotate tube so buttons are on the bottom, then carefully work in the board.
