I saw a woman with their 15 or 16 year old in a vape shop last weekend. She said in front of me "I know what I want, do you know what you want" to her son and then she said oopps! As like she recognized that it was said too loud. It brought me back to when I was a kid. My mom never approved of me smoking. She caught me several times. But it got me thinking, I kind of wish e-cigs were around when I was a kid. Maybe I would have never picked up smoking. The fact is....all you can do is try to be a good parent. For all I know, this woman maybe caught her son smoking a bunch of times and was trying to get him off that bad habit. E-cigs need to be around for everyone. IMHO they can help significantly more people than they will hurt. I don't condone children smoking or vaping, but children will be children. If they want to smoke or vape they will. I know I did. I would rather they have the safer alternative.

This. I don't "condone" the use of nicotine, BUT...if it's a choice between nicotine in cigarettes and nicotine in e-cigs, I would say yes to e-cigs a lot faster. I think a kid who's inclined to start smoking to fit in or look cool will be able to start and quit vaping so much easier than if they start smoking and then try to stop once their circle of friends changes or starts to think it's not cool to do anymore.

I have mixed feelings about this. I myself had my first cigarette when I was 16, liked it, and wound up smoking daily by age 17. 5 1/2 years later, I was up to a pack-and-a-half-a-day (and that was after I brought it down from 2 PAD.) I started young and took off with it. I wound up pretty hopelessly addicted very quickly. I don't blame my parents or the people who bought them for me. I sought them out myself. I wanted to make an 'adult' decision and I wound up having to deal with adult consequences. I think there is a point in every late-teen's life when it's not always so bad to make some mistakes. Better you learn to make them early while you still have a bit of a safety net and time to turn things around, as it only gets harder making mistakes when you're older. You can only protect them from so much before they actually have to go out into the grown-up world and learn from their own mistakes.

But I digress...

...I feel like I can't condone kids picking up vaping. But just as kids will always find a way to get booze, drugs, and cigarettes, they will find ways to get their hands on e-cigs, so I'm not exactly up in arms about it. It's one of those things I kinda just look the other way on. *shrugs* I think if a child were to pick up smoking and become addicted, I wouldn't object to a parent providing them with an e-cig any more than I would gum or the patch - that's for sure.

I am against young people vaping. Ive being seeing alot of you tube videos and kids posting in the forums, even seen 15-17 year olds smoking egos in the parking lots of high schools and it bothers me because i have the feeling that they are doing it because they think its new and cool, not because they had a 20 year addiction to 2 packs of cigarettes a day and started feeling unhealthy, yet tried to quit probably like 50 times like me. Now im not saying every vaporer has to have some big story about how they smoked a ton of cigarettes and than finally quit with electronic cigarettes. Im just saying there are things that are just right and things that are wrong. I am pro vaping, i owe my life to it, i just want to vape and be left in peace and left alone.
Now i know any kid can go online and buy anything these days so im not proposing any fixes for it, i guess im just venting because i had a kid asking me what i was vaping today and he pulled out a provari that was nicer than my ego lol. He asked me if i wanted to take a blast off of it and honestly i just asked him how old he was and he said "16" so i just shook my head and walked away.

Yeah, I knew this 14 year old kid once that smoked Marlboros with his friends in the parking lot because he thought it was cool. I still see him everyday when I look in the mirror. Point being people (especially adolescents) are going to do what they're going to do regardless of legality or social implications.

Fortunately none of the vape shops where I live allow anyone under 18 in the door, regardless if they're accompanied by an adult. At least one of the 6 shops in town has advertised their call in curbside service on FB
