Just thought I'd let you know where you would all be staying on your "road trip". As I said earlier, our house is an old workers cottage in regional australia. It's 130 years old. It's small (although the back yard is huge) and we don't have a guest room as such.

Most of it has been extensively renovated, but the old outhouse (outside toilet) is still standing. The actual toilet has been removed, and we now keep our lawn mower in it. I'm happy to pull the lawnmower out so you can all stay. But as I said, it will be cozy. And the blue tongue lizards and goannas may resent your intrusion. But still, you are all welcome!

Hey, why don't FSUSA ever have a "show us your guest room" competition? With such a gorgeous facility, I would win easily!

No, it's not, because so much of the town is the same age. There are new areas, but I live in part of the original town (we moved here about 6 months ago, but still work in "the big smoke"). A few are historic, but not ours. Jsut as well or we wouldn't have the new bathroom, kitchen etc. The original bathroom and kitchen was outside, where my laundry is. It still has the trough there, and the stove for heating water. IT's quite amazing! But I love my modern conveniences as well, so am glad the previous owners extended to add a lovely INDOOR bathroom and kitchen.

I love my house. It's very beautiful. And with incredibly high ceilings. We feel in love when we saw it, and had to buy it. I love the way so many original things from the old days are still here (the outhouse still has the iron rings there to tie up your horses!)

Post pictures of your house! I love old homes. We live in 1920s Spanish Mission Style home. After we bought our house, most of the homes in my neighborhood were designated historic. I wish they weren't! Whenever we replace windows, etc., we have to spend a lot so that the original style is maintained. We're not allowed to do any modifications unless we get approval from the Historic Board (we lovingly call them the Hysterical Board). :)
