I bought two Ultrafire 4000mah 3.7v 18650's. Posted in a vape group on FB and was basically scolded for using them. Was told I should have bought Sony/Panasonic/Samsung/Sanyo/Mnke/AW. Are they really bad?
They were $9 for two and a single charger. I'm looking for some inexpensive batteries that won't cost much just started using a mech.(started as in yesterday)
Your thoughts?

If you want to use a mech safely give up any concept you can get two batteries and a charger for $9.00. Beyond that, any battery with the word "Fire" in it's name is most likely low drain, inconsistent in manufacture, and possibly a fake of a cheap battery even. If you want to be safe, we can give recommendations for quality batteries based on what resistance you are planning to build. If you are only interested in how cheap you can get them... I'm done here.

We won't scold you ................. well maybe we will

There is a lot of good information about batteries here on ecf, so please, do some reading on battery safety.

Basically those ultrafire batteries are not up to the task, especially in a mechanical.

This will give you an idea of what a Li Ion battery is capable of, and why knowing what & how to use is important.

I've been using and rotating the same four AW 18650 lMR 2000mah batteries for well over a year and a half and I still get vape time in the range of 8am until supper.

They are about $10 to $12 each, but AW screens their stock through testing and labels the better ones as AW. The rest supposedly get sold as generics and end up being relabeled as private brands. AW buys cells in bulk from Panasonic and Sanyo, according to the Candlepower forums.

Here's his early sales thread that started in 2010. There's lot's of specs and info about the batteries he sells. The flashlight guys swear by AW for quality cells. My experience has been parallel with theirs.

I use AWs but I got 2 Efest 18350 flat top that came with my SMOK e-pipe. I went with AW for the main reason that what ProVape told me to use in my ProVari so to make sure my warranty will remain good I used them.
Anyways I know eBay is a bad word around here but I have gotten AW Batteries off this guy a few times and they are Real and not to badly priced. His or Her name is vaporizeforless.

He sales AW, Efest, MNKE, and Sony IMR High drained Batteries. You can get them in 2 pack, 4 pack, or 10 pack. I get the AWs off him and it comes out to around $10 a battery.
Plus he does sale Charger & Batteries together in fact he sales a lot vaping stuff.

I'm not sure how good eFest is but they seem to be his cheapest, they got some good Threads here on ECF on Batteries though.

It really should not matter with most mods. Although some that do not have much adjustment in them can be finicky, so it would really depends on the mod you are using them in.

How do you know they're real?

Personally, I don't see the point in chancing it when eBay sellers can so easily start up again under a different name if they get caught cheating. The incentive to sell fakes is just too big. They also may not even know they're fake themselves.

With a recognised, named shop (whether physical or web) the cost of losing their reputation is much higher, so the incentive is greatly reduced. And they are more likely to have distribution channels connected to the primary distributors, so there's less of a risk that they are unwittingly selling fakes.

It bears repeating: a tube mod is structurally not that dissimilar to a pipe bomb. You want to think *really* carefully before deciding to cut corners in buying the parts that might make it blow up, then holding it up to your face and pushing the button.
