Hey everyone! I just decided to venture into the vape world as of yesterday (my boss is offering to expense any vape/patch/gum purchases for any employees wanting to quit smoking) and bought all of my goodies today during lunch.

I must say, I quite like it! I purchased the eGo Twist, with the regular Menthol tobacco flavored e juice (I wasn't feeling up to experimenting with Cotton Candy or Root Beer flavors just yet) and I (almost) feel as if I'm smoking a regular cigarette which is surprising.

Anyways, I am just curious to know how quickly after you guys made the switch from analogs to vapes that the following health benefits started to be felt:

How long after did you:

Find yourself breathing easier (i.e., no more wheezing, "heavy chest" feeling, etc)?

Lose the "smoker's" cough?

Notice your tastebuds come back to life? And your smell?

Libido? Better sleep? etc....Just curious on when I can expect to start feeling alive again! I plan on attempting to only vape..I understand (as I have tried to quit numerous times before) that the occasional slip up can always occur, but I am honestly feeling different this time around for some reason. I'm 29 and am ready to start a new chapter.

Thanks in advance for any input!! :)

I noticed the breathing get better within a few days.... I walk a lot of steps at work and now I can do the 5 flights without feeling like my chest would explode. I never really had the smokers cough even after 30 years of smoking so that I can't answer... As far as sleeping better.... Almost immediately!! Within 3 or 4 days I was sleeping through the night.... No waking up short of breath... No pains or aches. Tasting things better..... well that is still improving more all the time and the same with my sense of smell. I quit smoking the very day my MVP 2 arrived.... haven't looked back and I don't intend to. Vaping satisfies me completely. Oh... and welcome to ECF!!!!

Now, that's a great boss!! Are ya'll hiring?? Just kidding, I retired 10 mos. ago and have no intention of working again.
Since you haven't been smoking for 50 years like I had been, I would think things should come around pretty quick. I'm 36 days in now and a lot of things have improved for me. Breathing, sleeping, barely coughing (still got some crud in there) and just feeling better all aound. Congrats to you and whoever else in your workplace that decides to come over to the Vape Side. Give your boss a big ol' Texas "Atta Boy" from the Big Cat!!

Even though i smoked for over 30 years, i did not experience a lot of the physical manifestation of analogs. Aside from not stinking, i have only seen improvements in my sense of smell and overall condition of sinuses so far. I never had breathing issues other than being old, fat and out of shape. My BP has gone down a little, but with two kids, that rises and falls constantly. :glare:

46 years of smoking, 6 months of vaping ...

For me, the beneficial effects were nearly immediate. The chronic bronchitis cleared up after 3 days. And this was serious, coughing fits so bad that I had to leave my office and go to my car until it ceased, and eating cough drops one after another to keep from disrupting meetings ...

No more chest pains, shortness of breath, and best of all, no more back-to-back colds and flu this fall ...

I've only been 4 days; my sense of smell is starting to return and things are starting to taste a bit odd. I assume my taste buds are starting to wake up!
I never had a "smokers cough" but my chest gurgled when I laughed ( attractive!) or took a deep breath and that's stopped, now I think of it. And I was constantly clearing my throat. Stopped that too!

I've noticed when friends have stopped that it only takes a few weeks for them to change colour - it's startling! So I'm looking forward to looking all pink and glowy :D

Biggest thing for me so far is the confidence of knowing that I don't stink!

I can't wait to start feeling better! I am also getting over a cold coincidentally, so right now my lungs hurt even more than normal and I have been coughing like crazy for days now. So aggravating. I think the fact that it takes me twice as long to get over colds was enough for me to finally decide on quitting - I'm just sick of it! 13 years of smoking analogs has definitely taken it's toll, and I am ready to quit for good.

Thanks for the input guys...yes, my boss is awesome for what he's doing! I feel incredibly lucky. And excited that I've found something to actually satisfy my cravings completely.

It's been almost 4 weeks for me and I do notice some differences. Generally easier to breathe and one thing I noticed within the first week was things taste a lot better. Also I don't wake up gagging on thick brown flem in my throat anymore either. One strange thing I noticed is that I've developed a cough and it feels like things in my lungs are starting to loosen up and I'm able to spit more up. Is this normal? Does the vapor cause all the tar and crap in the lungs to loosen up?

40 year 3 pad smoker. You are much younger than I (young whippersnapper). It was more of a gradual thing for the first 6-8 weeks. I noticed the wheezing and coughing lessening in just a week or two...taste and smell came later. I had trouble sleeping just because I had more energy...but I was sleeping sounder once I fell asleep. Also, at my age, just making it thru the night without getting up to pee is a real accomplishment. The whole drinking water to hydrate thing does get in the way of sleeping. (aging is not for sissys). After 2-3 months, I had to adjust my nic level down, so I had some sleeplessness and anxiety, so it was not a steady improvement thing...more fits and starts.

After 40 years of stashing who knows what in my lungs I don't expect miracles 3 weeks in but have noticed that what I am coughing up doesn't look like I inhaled some of those really tiny flies (no seeums). I actually got a burning sensation (like after a hard run) in my lungs yesterday and I'll attribute that to my lungs not used to being so exposed to air. I also find myself breathing deeper than I used to.

My senses of taste and smell seem to be starting to wake up a bit and I'm finally starting to sleep a bit better with loads of REM sleep that I'm not used to. I got a wiff of some ashes from a garbage can I used to dump the odd ashtray into and had to wash the smell out.

I wish Ecigs were on the market 25 years ago. I'm sure I'd feel much better today if they were.

I believe that I was addicted to more than just nicotine (hey, with some 4,000 chemicals in tobacco smoke the chances are pretty good) but the urge to smoke tapered off pretty quickly after the first couple of days. Now I'm thinking about tapering off the nic a little bit but have about 2 months worth of liquid.

You are blessed with an awesome employer!

I've been vaping for months now and for comparison, my employer required that I sign a form saying that i'm a tobacco user and join a quit smoking program in order to be eligible for health insurance credits!

My employer is starting a program in 2014 that charges you an extra $50 a month in insurance premiums if you are a smoker. They also make you take a cessation class to get out of it. I got into vaping a year+ ago, but slacked off and went back to smoking again. I had been debating going back to vaping the entire time, but never committed. The new insurance policy was the final contributing factor to me making the swtich, so I'm glad they decided to do it. I'm a hardcore cheapo, so that extra $600 a year made it totally unacceptable to remain a smoker.

If my boss offered to pay for me to drop stinkies, I would have gone straight for the jugular, his AMEX. Provari with a russian 91% and a plethora of juices. Oh wait, I AM the boss. Yeah right, my wife would have gone through the roof watching me drop 3bills on a maybe. 3 weeks into this vaping thing, I'm feeling refreshed, not fidgety like before. Breathing is greatly improving and taste is coming back. (insert joke here about wifes cooking)

Glad to hear you made the switch, stick with it. The tanks can be a pain some time so just buy more and rotate. ;-)

I quit cold turkey a long time ago for a few years, well before there was such a thing a vaping. This is just your body expelling the junk that built up. It does this whether you vape or not. Vapor Eyes mentioned the cilia coming back to life. They've been paralyzed by the smoke for a long time and they are the method for the lungs to expel mucous. Cigarette smoke also constricts the sacs in the lungs making it harder for the mucous to come out. The body is amazing. Your lungs are starting their rebirth and can become almost as good as new in the long run. As always Your mileage may vary :p

I've seen some employers (specifically hospitals, health care) require drug tests that include nicotine and come with increased premiums for smokers. Some others won't even hire you. I don't think they differentiate between a smoker, vaper or patch user. It's a nicotine test.

This guy does some great "vaping 101" videos, including this one that explains what to expect when you make the switch to e-cigs. It's kind of long, but information is power, right? Cheers to quitting analogs - vaping is the only thing that's made me realize how gross they really are (no really, I've "tested" a few since the switch and it's disgusting)!
