I'm unable to post in the health section yet, so I'm posting here.

I'm 25 and was never a regular smoker. At most I smoked about a cigarette every other day at social functions and occasionally if someone else at work was on a smoke break I would bum one. I liked smoking quite a bit, but was afraid of the addiction and the health problems. Thank god I do not have an addictive personality.

So I heard about PVs and started reading up quite a bit here, about a week ago ended up buying an Ego kit and some all VG e-juice. Since it's new and I wasn't nearly so worried about the health effects, I've been smoking it pretty regularly, about 2 carts or 24ish drops a day. I realize that isn't much compared to some heavy vapors but it's a lot more than I ever smoked.

So I've begun to notice a tight feeling in my chest and a little shortness of breath on a day when I vape more than a couple times. I stopped completely yesterday at about 9 and now 14 hours later I'm still feeling it, definite wheezing when I breather and an odd "tight" feeling in my chest.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm vaping 100% VG juice which I thought was supposed to be easier on the body or something like that...

yeah, most of the "medical community" pretty much agrees at this point that anything less than 5 cigarettes A DAY is about the same as not smoking at all. So, technically, you are considered a non-smoker.

PG and VG both are humectants: they'll dry out all the tissues in your body, it's possible you are (very) dehydrated.

Forgot to mention that I am vaping 0 nic Juice. I figured if I'm not addicted to nicotine now, why start. I could be dehydrated I suppose, but would that cause wheezing and such? I'll try drinking more water. I also got some PG juice on the way and I'll give that a try.

That sounds about right to me.... after all, you are inhaling an humectant directly into your lungs. I'm not sure what lungs do when you suck the moisture out of them, but it can't be good. If drinking more water doesn't help in a few days, then surely switching to PG will.

edit: awesome jobs deciding to go with the 0 nic juice. Very smart.

This isn't personal medical advise or anything, but you didn't explain enough. There can be other things going on at the same time as your vaping. This is not a health-advisory forum. It's probably the vaping, but we can't say for sure. Col.l Gaunt seems to have read about the exact same symptoms being cured by a moderate water intake increase. I don't want to scare you, or get you off track, but see this link:

911 - Warnings Signs of a Heart Attack

And if you think you have serious issues, shortness of breath for example, with or without chest pain, you should call 9-1-1, the doctor, go to the ER. Otherwise, we can't really give medical advise. I say this because whatever you are experiencing may or may not be vaping related. No way for us to tell. You seem to indicate that it is, since you mention days where you vape more. But you're clear for 14 hours and still having symptoms... So, don't vape. Get checked, and don't ignore the symptoms if they persist a long time. Even 25 year olds can have issues. Or just allergies or dehydration. We can't say for sure. At least I can't say for sure. I shouldn't speak for "we".

It's possible that it is allergies, I do get some bad allergies in both the fall and spring, never had it involve my chest but I wouldn't be surprised at all. I was simply curious to see if this was a common problem. It does seem to be involved with my vaping so today I'm going to hold of completely and see how I feel. I wouldn't call my issues "serious" just a slight tightness in the chest. I've had my heart checked out recently and I'm ok on that front.

Phew.... My heart is beating better now, metaphorically. lol. Glad to hear you are ok. When I hear "breathing problems" and "tightness in chest" at the same time..... Hope you feel better.

Most of us here were heavy smokers, with a lot of smoking residue (tar, etc...) coating our lungs. This vapor (like ANYTHING else) will also leave a bit of temporary residue as well... probably gets absorbed or expelled a helluva lot faster than tobacco tar, but its still there

I do get a sort of "stiff" feeling in my chest when I vape a lot, especially while not drinking enough water. Goes away if I pound water and/or cut back a bit. ...and I was also a PAD smoker for 20 years... My guess is that the vapor is leaving some residue in your lungs (and like previous posters mentioned, drying them out a bit at the same time), and since you weren't a regular heavy smoker, your lungs aren't as used to ANY sort of residue in there.

I just "deal with it", because I think its the lesser of two evils. But you were pretty good to begin with - nicotine is a harsh mistress to be betrothed to. You sure you want to dive in even deeper, by vaping more than you used to smoke? (if so... be sure to drink a crap-ton of water, and your lungs may have an easier time with it -and if that doesn't work, just stop! my 2 cents)

Because I enjoyed the light amount of smoking I did, and figured this would be a better alternative.

Well the problem seems to be that you were not replacing the light smoking you did, but rather vaping a lot more than you smoked. While it may end being proven to be better than cigarettes, at this point that is just supposition, and it is still a foreign substance being inhaled into lungs that are not designed for glycerin and flavoring inhalation. Using it to replace five cigarettes a week may not have given you any difficulty. There should be no surprise that your lungs are protesting that "I've been smoking it pretty regularly, about 2 carts or 24ish drops a day". Do yourself a favor, back off to using it no more than the amount of smoking you were doing, and your lungs will thank you for it.
