Hey everyone! I was curious, so thought id make a post about this to discuss/find out people opinions.

What is everyones feelings on Youtube "reviewers"?

I personally dont think any of their opinions should be taken seriously or held at a high standard as they are obviously swayed by money easily, and find them more akin to infomercial salesmen/entertainers/personalities.

I dont mean to offend anyone with my opinion, so lets please keep things civil. Very curious so please let me know!

edit/disclaimer: not saying they are bad people either, or that anyone is a bad person for liking their content.

If they didn't pay for the product themselves I don't believe a word they say. If companies give them products they give glowing reviews so they can get more free stuff. I'd rather the recommendations of other users here before I listen to a review.

DJLsb is NOT like that. I have seen him give very bad ratings to products that deserved them even though he got the item free. I have also seen him call out companies that tried to pressure him to give favorable reviews or to put them ahead of other products in his review queue. There are now some brands/sellers/products that he won't even review anymore b/c they wanted him to only post positive reviews.

In hundreds of purchases, I can only remember two YT reviews that held any weight in my final decision. The rest of my purchases were based on what I see thats good, what I know thats good, and sometimes real reviews from paying users. Fasttechs reviews are a great source of information too.

I guess I are be one, kinda, sorta, maybe. I do a review from time to time and I use Youtube as a media. It's true for the most part that if you want to get more products to review you need to give positive reviews. My number of products has dropped in number over time, lol although I still pick up a new manufacturer from time to time. They seek me, I don't solicit them. This is simply a passive hobby for me. I like to analyze the electrical characteristics.

What do I think about others? I see them as individuals like anybody else. I watch some. As much as anything, I like seeing the product detail for myself. I listen to their opinions but I form my own from what I see. I've gotten some good insight this way. There are some that I just can't watch. All fluff and "personality" and no product detail. The ones that yell everything and try to come across as post modern "cool" make me nuts. I don't hold them too accountable either. There are just things they can not catch. I bought a Lost Vape Triade 250C that the seal was reversed in assembly. Fire button constantly stuck down. I caught wind of a few others that were assembled that way but I think the vast majority were fine. The other thing to consider is that a lot of these devices are obsolete before they have been out long enough to really test well. Paint comes to mind.

As far as the "free stuff" perception, I have to laugh. I guess that may hold true for some reviewers but doing a review is about the most expensive way for me to get a device that I can think of. I'll easily spend a 10 hour day testing a fifty dollar mod and creating a video. As far as I know that's less than minimum wage.

Having said all that, 99% of what I have seen on the God Box (TV) makes me numb, but people do appreciate that and call it entertainment. So I guess take it for what it is? Whatever that is to you.

I could care less how someone else pushes a product as long as they are giving valid info and more importantly showing the device, atty, whatever in use and broken down. Before any atty or mod purchase I look up as many reviews as I can to make sure it is going to do what I want or to find out new things I didn't consider. Invaluable to me. Crap man, I learned how to build thanks to youtube reviewers and tutorials.

You know what offends me more than reviewers selling a product?
Saw a commercial tonight that was simply Allstate pointing out that they are helping people after hurricanes on the east coast. All they are doing by helping is getting better value for their add space.

I’m pretty sure that DJLSB has admitted to taking a fee to bump a product up in the queue, but he insists that doesn’t influence his review in any other way.

Still, he’s about the only one I watch, but even then only if I’m somewhat interested in the product. I’ll look at other reviews if I’m actually thinking of buying something. Busardo is probably next in line, but he’s not doing as many reviews these days.

Daniel and Busardo and also the only ones I know of who regularly test for TC performance - which is all I use these days.

I watch reviews on products that I’m interested in. I treat them like an informative unboxing. See highlights, builds, etc. if I’m really interested in something I hit reddit and the message boards for the best info. People that pay for items and have good experiences with them or problems, that’s who I listen to.

I find most of the yt vape gear reviews kind of meaningless. I dont really watch them now and didnt watch many to start with. The best information Ive found has been on vape forums, fb pages etc where everyday users discuss everyday problems and solutions of the products and in comparison to other similar items they have.
Sometimes there is something I can take away from a yt demo but generally I just have to get my hands on an item and try it for myself.
TBH, a lot of the yt reviewers personalities put me off. I dont need people talking at great length, just simple text running along underneath with key points generally gets the information across for me unless its a more complicated demo.

Could you send me your info on where to find you? If you dont mind. If Im going to watch a review(er) Id much rather support someone from here. Plus that adorable profile pic of WALL-E is awesome. Always rooted for that little guy. [:>

I trust/enjoy a lot of the lesser known forum based/YT(/DJlsb) reviewers. They do very indepth reviews, for instance check the accuracy of a devices TC. They will also take the time to help people in the community and resolve their problems.

Edit: Deleted most of post.

A lot of Youtubers embed their videos here on the forum. Here's one of Walee's posts with a Youtube video.

Thank you!

I hope I didnt offend him, I didnt mean all YT reviewers when i posted initially. Just the main ones who have become quite popular. Poor wording on my part!

They all want those like$, view$, and $ub$criber$. ;)

Yeah, I noticed they tend to get REAL butthurt any time anyone brings up money. I honestly dont mind someone making a living, but to say your reviewing something honestly when your getting A. Free products B. Thousands $ for a Review C. Fear of losing future $/products over negative comments . I find it hard to believe these people can be honest in any real capacity.

I started watching Not Another Vape Show yesterday and someone asked them how to use TC, they all said the other one would answer, fumbled with their words and finally admitted they dont know how. How can you even fully review a TC mod when you cant even use it yourself? Then many more examples of questions similar to this one came up and theyd dodge it/avoid it/pass the buck, or even laugh at the person and make fun of them. Its sad really, Id feel horrible if someone who was new asked me a question and I laughed and poked fun at them.

Honestly, as long as it doesn't affect the accuracy of the review, I really don't care what order they are in or if he was paid to bump it up in order. I agree with the TC bit as I also only use TC. So for mods those two are pretty much the only reviewer's I watch as well.

I should also say I have NEVER bought a mod or tank b/c a reviewer recommended it. However, I have decided to NOT buy something based on reviews. Essentially when I want something new, be it a mod or tank, I first make a short list of what could potentially fit my requirements. THEN I watch reviews to see how air flow is, see how tank decks are to build on, see the menus on mods, and TC accuracy, etc. So in essence I use the reviews more to get a more in depth view of the items and potential cons, to weed items off of my list until I am left with just one and that is what I buy. So really it doesn't matter to me what the reviewer's opinion is or if he got paid to say it.

DJlsb is the most worthwhile to watch I would say, I dont really rope him in with the "big name" ones. But he should be hailed as one of the best, the reviews Ive watched from him are actually reviews. If I recall correctly, he rips the whole mod apart. If I had to choose between any of them to trust itd certainly be DJlsb. Im not too versed on the vape reviewer YT scene.

edit: and hes not throwing other products in your face trying to sell you on things your not even their to look at. We need a YT reviewer reviewer.
