It's a man thing.
Where you see untidy we see ergonomics
Where you see dust we see protective coating .

I still enjoy my cigars and pipes every now and then (I have a couple hundred cigars and enough pipe tobacco to endure the Apocalypse) so I kept a Zippo pipe lighter. Love this thing! I've always thought of pipe and cigar smoking to be a different world to cigarette smoking. So I don't include it as "smoking".

With a ZIPPO?! Talk about "ewww..."

I really liked having and using a Zippo when I was a smoker, but I had to stop using them because the fluid made the skin on my hands crack and peel. Petroleum allergy? I don't know, Vaseline doesn't do it, and I don't have occasion to handle lots of gasoline. In any case, I came across a couple of old ones the other day...so old and so dry that they let out puffs of dust when I opened them up and pulled out the innards.
