I just finished my first AR-15 build today. It's a 24" stainless varmint A4 upper with free-float tube on a Suplus Arms lower with an A2 buttstock. It's also got the Pearce Grip 1911 AR-15 grip with wrap-around rubber grip panels, which I personally like the feel of very much. It's also been equipped with a set of Magpul MBUS sights, and I'm currently shopping rings to put some optics on it. Also, for you AR-15 owners, the Accu-wedge is a wonderful thing, eliminated any play between my lower and upper, which started out as having a fraction of a millimeter to move around before.

Nice looking AR there dude.

Nice! Yeah, the Accu-wedge is pretty amazing, my old AR had more than a 'couple' mm of play and it locked it right up. What are your requirements for the rings? I'm guessing you're looking for something other than basic Weavers.

It looks like the LaRue LT-135 will fit with your MagPull sights (LT-104's won't clear according to LaRue) and is a quick detatch as well. I've never used them but they look like they're the 'top of the line' QD's for the AR flat top with almost perfect return to zero. Kind of pricey at $215 but it looks like if you're patient you can pick up used for around the $150-180 shipped range. It just depends on what diameter scope tube you plan on using.

Which model of CZ? It sounds like you got the better end of the deal even if some of those CZ's are bringing top dollar since Colt's always bring top dollar. On a side note, anyone hear any horror stories about the Sig P250? It's the modular/multi-platformer model where you swap the registered trigger group into different grips, change the barrel (for 9/.40/.357 sig) and go. To change to/from a .45 (or different length barrel obviously) you have to change the slide as well. From what I'm finding so far, the only downside is the long DAO trigger pull and reset (Sig already has a shorter trigger available in the custom shop). While it's not the same as having 2-3-4 separate dedicated pistols, it would give the same flexibility in caliber choice. Plus... It's a Sig.

It was the CZ 75 RSR Retro I posted earlier. Pretty happy with the deal. If he would have taken those guns to a shop to trade he would have ended up with even less though and he said as much so I don't feel bad. He also got a few extras ( chest rig for the .44, 320 grain .44 mag ammo, speed loaders, ect.). Haven't heard anything on the Sigs either way though.

Well, I have a trade in the works to try and swap my XD for this package:
SIG SAUER P250 COMPACT .40 W/NS, 3-MAGS, Used .357 SIG BARREL! SHIPS FREE
I've been reading some interesting test results on the .357 sig lately and the multi caliber and extra mags are a plus. I'm only a barrel and a mag away from having three calibers in one gun, possibly for under $500 total if I'm patient on them.

Another interesting if impractical to obtain tool for Z-day. The De Lisle Carbine! There is one place making reproductions for around 2k but it's probably the quietest firearm ever made. Found a youtube video of a replica (there were like 160-170 made for WWII total). Great concept that Sterling expanded on but in 9mm later.

Do those silencers run on grease?

Looks like it was a 'dry', helical, non-contact style suppressor. It's listed as having a lining but doesn't say if it required oil which would make it a 'wet' suppressor. I know the modern 'wet' suppressors can get a serious reduction in sound but I haven't seen anything quite this effective. Now that I've thought about it some, that suppressed Sterling does use oil and looks like it uses the same design except that it does come in contact with the bullet as it travels through. Biggest difference is that the Sterling is fully automatic and slows down full power 9mm to subsonic levels where the carbine was a bolt action .45acp.
Maybe the next season of Sons of Guns will have someone requesting a copy of one and we can see what they come up with! They do have some experience with suppressing oddball things and doing a surprising job of it!

I really doubt that what Sons of Guns will come up with can be that special, given that Special Interest Arms does it on a regular basis...

Hmmm, something has the 2nd amendment 'question' being pushed to the forefront lately. What's going on that I'm missing?

Ahhh... Found it. Very disturbing thought that someone is going to link the magic word 'terrorist' with 'gun control laws'. I still don't understand how someone can rationalize that someone won't do something just because there's a law against doing it. If that was the case, we wouldn't need a police force or prisons...

I'd feel better about the Tea party if it wasn't the brainchild of someone who's business was to literally get up into someone's 'business'... :D On paper it looks good, like the Libertarian party. The reality is that they're a weak offshoot of the Republican party and that goes against what is truly needed to reduce the debt. In MY opinion, cut off foreign aid and actions, eliminate tax breaks and incentives for multi-million dollar corporations *cough* OIL *cough* and we'd be okay. Flat tax all corporations and we'd have a huge surplus...

Please oh please don't mix up the Tea Party with the Libertarian Party. People have made that stretch based on ~some~ fiscal parallels and an old Koch brother tie-in to CATO. It couldn't be further from the truth though. If the Tea Party further hijacks actual Libertarianism/Agorism this coming election cycle I might seek them all out and beat them to death with sponges. -Magnus

The only similarity I meant was that the Libertarians looked good on paper. In reality, they'd rather use that paper for other things...

Kick me again why don't you? ;-)

BTW, is that avatar from Wordwood? Looks awfully familiar but I can't find my Wormwood trades to confirm. -Magnus
