Hello and welcome back. I’m here with you today to take a look at the Hellvape Fat Rabbit RTA Solo 2 that was sent to me by Hellvape in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The Solo 2 has a 3ml capacity with the pre-installed straight glass and can accommodate 5ml when using the included spare bubble glass. The Solo 2 offers three airflow modes with honeycomb type airflow. It is advertised to support single and dual coil operation. We’ll have to see about that. The build deck is postless. It makes use of an included 810 resin drip tip. Often times these types of tips are too short for me but I’ll give it a fair chance.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Fat Rabbit Solo 2 has the usual black and orange box. The front of the box has a nice color picture of the tank and a sticker indicating the color version contained inside. Of course the Hellvape name and logo are on the front as well as the name of the tank. The back side of the box has a list of features, contents list, and company information.

Once opened, the tank is exposed with the straight 3ml glass pre-installed and the spare bubble glass sitting below in the foam insert. The accessories included are located underneath. They include a single .37 ohm Ni80 Clapton coil, a single cotton thread, screwdriver, o rings, user manual, and coil cutting guide that has an arrow marked at the 5mm position.

Just like I do with any new tank, I disassembled the samples and gave them a hot soapy bath to eliminate any residual oil or impurites that might be left from the machining process. As you can see in the picture below, it comes with a nice swirled drip tip. The Solo 2 has both top and bottom airflow. Both rings can be removed and have a postitive stop. The build deck has four posts and even though it’s billed as a single coil rta. It is also advertised as being able to run dual coils but it is recommended not to go over 2.5mm when installing dual coils. I will give you my thoughts on this later in my conclusion.

The top and bottom airflow control rings have the same style of grooves cut into them for ease of adjustment. The top cap is a little thin but but has knurling on the outside edge to make it easier for the user to remove it for filling. There are two large fill ports that will accommodate any bottle. The o rings that seal the top are on the top cap. There is a small one on the center and a larger one around the outer edge of the top cap. The cap is removed with a ¼ turn.

The Solo 2 offers three different types of airflow. You can have just top, just bottom, or a combination of both and top and bottom airflow. It seems to me that the top airflow control introduces more airflow than the bottom control. At least that was my experience while testing the two. I ended up with the bottom slightly open and the top ¼ open for a slightly restricted RDL. This one can be as airy as you want with the combination of the two.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Since I was sent two different samples, I decided to try the matte black version with the 3ml glass and the included .37 ohm Ni80 coil. My first attempt at building, I cut the coil to 5mm and centered the coil over the honeycomb airflow of the deck. I thinned the tails of the wick out a little too much and was the coil was getting over saturated but the deck was not flooding. I ran a couple tanks like that then rewicked the coil and left a little more cotton on the tails and got better performance. The flavor was very good and got huge amounts of vapor running the coil at 49 watts.

To test out the claim of the Solo 2 being able to be used with dual coils, I wound two 2.5mm Clapton coils with some 316SS 26/32 wire. This didn’t go very well for me. It took me three attempts at positioning the coils before they weren’t shorting out inside some reducing the resistance to .08 ohms. I finally did get them to work and came in at .23 ohms. I thinned the cotton wicks out quite a bit in order to get both tails into each hole. The flavor was good but I was getting quite a bit of spitting while trying to run them at around 55 watts. Any higher and it was just too warm for me with the amount of airflow that I like. I did open the bottom airflow some more than the black on this gold version. I also played around with the top airflow but I’m not a big fan of huge airflow. So for me, the Solo 2 will be used as a single coil rta which for me is where it excels.

These tests below only note my personal opinion for the ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, EVE, Lishen, BAK, or Sanyo can change at any time! This can be one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. Never use them outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous discharge rating (CDR), never let it get colder than 0°C or hotter than 60°C, and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition. Never use a battery that is physically damaged in any way.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.




Test Results
A decent performer, it’s essentially equal to the Samsung 50G and 50E2 and like the other high-capacity cells it’s best at about 5A (15W) or lower. Some other cells perform a bit better, some a bit worse, check my Ratings & Performance table to see which.

The datasheet doesn’t list a continuous current rating but discharges at 9.8Α are mentioned and that seems reasonable. The datasheet mentions that for the rated cycle life you should stay at or below 5A though and limit the cell’s voltage range to 3.0V to 4.125V. Other ultra-high capacity cells do this too.

Some thoughts and observations…

• Rumor is that this cell is the EV version of the Samsung 50G, adding a bottom vent (“B” for Bottom?) for additional safety, see above photo. Bottom vents are used in some very high capacity cells to give escaping gases another way out in case the cell goes into thermal runaway and the top vent gets blocked. If this happens the cell could burst without the bottom vent.
• The top contact of this vent is tiny and thin, see above photo. I recommend not using this cell if your device places a lot of pressure on the top and bottom contact. I also recommend not using this cell if you would be covering the bottom contact with a metal sheet (typically nickel or copper) to connect the cells within a battery pack. This would block the bottom vent.
• DC IR measured 16.2mOhms and 16.7mOhms for two cells. This is decent consistency.
• Capacities were 5074mAh and 5101mAh. This isn’t great consistency but it’s above the cell’s 5000mAh rating.
• The standard charge rating is 1.6A and fast charging is only 4.9A. I recommend staying at 1.5A or lower for long cell life.

Welcome back for another review. Today I will be taking a look at the Innokin Trine SE Pod kit that was sent to me by Innokin in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The SE is the latest addition to the Trine series of devices. Like the previous version, it uses a 1000mah battery that can be charged in the device or in the optional external charger. It has a maximum output range of 25 watts and is auto draw only. It does have adjustable airflow and a single battery light indicator but is a simplistic device with no display. It comes with the same VCAP pods that I’ve tested in two previous devices that perform very well.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Innokin Trine SE is simplistic much like the device itself. The front of the box has both the Innokin and Trine SE names printed on the front along with a picture of the device and the removable battery. The back of the box has a contents list along company information. Both the front and back have a large warning printed on the near the bottom of the box.

Once opened, inside is the Trine SE with the removable battery pre-installed, one each of the .6 and .8 ohm VCAP pods and a user manual. There was not a charging cable included but the SE uses a USB-C port so most people are going to already have a cable. Along with two samples for the review, I was also sent two boxes of 1.2 ohm pods that can be purchased separately. I prefer the .6 and .8 ohm pods and have reviewed all three in my previous review of the original Trine. I do wish that Innokin had sent the optional external charger for the batteries. The original Trine came with two batteries.

As I mentioned before, the Trine SE is a simpler version of the original. It does not have a display screen and is auto draw only. One side of the SE has the Innokin name printed on it while the opposite side has the Trine SE name along with the battery light indicator. I personally don’t love the percentage split on this one and previous Innokin pods where the light is green from 100-30 percent. The light is yellow from 30-10 percent, and it is red from 10-0 percent. I personally would have liked the green to be down to maybe 50 percent in order to give the user more warning before needing recharged.

In the second picture you can see that one side has the USB-C charging port and near the bottom you can see the tab that needs to be squeezed to slide the battery out. There is one on each side. It uses the same batteries as the original Trine. The opposite side has the sliding airflow control.

The pod opening on the SE has two magnets that secure the pod in securely as well as two plated and spring loaded contact that transfer power to pod. The bottom of the batteries have the Innokin name on them.

In case you’re not familiar with the VCAP pods, they are a top fill pod and very flavorful. I really like how the inserts on the pods are color coded according to the resistance of the pod. The .6 ohm pod is orange, the .8 ohm pod is blue, and the 1.2 ohm is green. The top cap simply pops off the expose the fill opening on one end with a rubber ring around it. It’s hard to see in the third picture but there is a smaller hole on the opposite end that allows air to escape while filling. The center hole is of course for the airflow and no liquid should be put in this hole.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Innokin Trine SE is a simplistic device but has fantastic performance in my opinion. I have had the Trine SE for almost a month now and during that time I have experienced no leaking and literally no condensation. I have use one at work daily during this time and it has worked flawlessly. I ran the .8 ohm pod with a simple mix mint recipe which has no sweetener added and it is still working great and still providing a really nice throat hit and flavor.

On the second sample, I ran the .6 ohm pod with a guava green tea mix and the flavor production was also very good along with increased vapor production. The battery management on both samples seemed very good. I mentioned earlier that I had previously tested all three pods and really didn’t see a need to test the 1.2 ohm pods again. I don’t use that high of resistance on any pod device and the vapor production really isn’t satisfying for me but I’m sure others might like the higher resistance. That being said, the 1.2 does deliver good flavor but is just a little weak for me.

The only real con I have for this one is that I wish that the battery percentage spread for the indicator light was a little more evenly split. I also kind of wish that Innokin had sent the external charger for the batteries so it could have been covered in the review. Hello everyone! I’m KJ. I quit smoking 3 months ago (a pack a day of Marlboro Menthol 100s) as I went into an autoimmune health flareup and decided it was time to quit. I was worried without the alkaloids in the nic vape if it would be pleasureful for me or not but have found it to be quite relaxing and without the smoke odor all over me. I just feel like I don’t get the “get up and go” energy and anti-ADHD concentration effects I got from smokes. But there are other medications for those symptoms other than self medicating with cigarettes I suppose so know I made the right decision.

Only—2 months into vaping I started to feel like I was getting an ear infection which I haven’t had since a child and never got from my years on and off of smoking since age 18. Went to ENT worried it was related to my autoimmune issues (which it could also be but had never experienced ear symptoms in autoimmune flares in the past which is strange for them to show up now at age 37 when battling autoimmunity since I was 23). They didn’t note any ear infection or visual abnormalities upon exam. Auditory test was normal even though nothing sounds normal. My ears now feel clogged or a “full” feeling with clicking, popping, things nearby sound muffled and sometimes things outdoors further away seem too loud (Eustachian tube irritation perhaps?—I’ve never really had sinus or ear problems so don’t know a whole lot about ENT health). The thing I’m most concerned (actually really scared about) at this point is the SEVERE tinnitus I’ve suddenly started experiencing in the last couple weeks after about 2.5 months vaping. Have never experienced any tinnitus in my life before. Mine is at a pretty constant high pitched almost screeching level that is not tolerable—sounds sometimes like the smoke alarm is going off; sometimes like I’m being attacked by a swarm of cicadas, or other times can hear my heart beat thumping in my ears (this was a new one tonight)—can’t sleep or even sort out thoughts in my own head over the noise and is driving me mad as I take solice in the quiet of the night trying to read and cannot concentrate now because of the tinnitus. I have seen some other posts on here just skimming that voice similar concerns and I’m feeling almost devastated that I may have to quit vaping after feeling so proud of finally making the long awaited switch down from smokes.

First—has anyone had a similar experience that they’d like to share and what the outcome was? Did the tinnitus and other symptoms mentioned ever go away after quitting? (I’m hoping for some positive reassurance here, please) And if so how long to resolve? I’m starting to really panic that I’ve perhaps permanently damaged my hearing by something I thought was a “healthier” choice for a quit smoker.

Second—in hopes that I can find a way to hold off on vaping for a hot minute and wait to see if the ear problems resolve soon, if possible—has anyone had this issue and been able to find an alternate juice or device that didn’t cause this problem to recur? I’ve been using cheap North brand 5% disposables likely with PG I’m assuming just because buying them in bulk is cheap—but not worth the cost of damaging my hearing and sanity. I’ve otherwise found it to actually be an enjoyable brand that gives me a decent throat hit with some great variety of flavors I enjoy in an easy pop it out of the box and go format. If you know of an alternate juice brand and/or device (or preferably a disposable for convenience and expense) that has not caused the same issue for you, PLEASE let me know and I would be so appreciative! Hello and welcome back for another review. Today I will be taking a look at the Oxbar Ice Nic 35K disposables that were sent to me by Oxbar in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. As the name suggests, these devices are rated up to 35,000 puffs depending on the user setting chosen. It’s the first vape that I am aware of that has adjustable Ice setting and Nic settings. There are three Nic settings and four Ice settings available. They have a 900mah internal battery, adjustable airflow, and 20 different flavors available. INITIAL THOUGHTS:

I received three samples for this review. I received the Rocket Pop, Strawberry Shortcake, and Jolly Watermelon flavors. I had tried the Rocket Pop before on an earlier Oxbar device. Please excuse the condition of the boxes in my pictures since the samples were shipped in a brown envelope instead of a box that would have protected the packaging. The front of the box has the Oxbar and product name with a nice color picture of device contained inside. There is a large warning on the front and back of the box. The back also has a list of specifications as well as an ingredient list.







The front of the Ice Nic has the Oxbar and Pod names printed on it. There is also a display screen on the front that shows the Ice level (4 levels), percentage of liquid remaining, Nic level (3 levels), remaining battery level percentage, and a battery level indicator. The back side of the device has an astrological sign on it along with the name of that sign.







One side of the Ice Nic has the name of the flavor printed on it while the opposite side has two adjustment buttons. The buttons have symbols molded into them to help the user remember which button adjusts which function. The top button adjusts the Ice level and the bottom button adjusts the Nic level. I really like the simplicity of the controls on this one.




When the Ice Nic is removed from the sealed foil bag that it is shipped in, there is a sticker covering the bottom of the device telling the user to turn the device on. The switch is on the left side of the device in the picture below and is clearly labeled on/off. On the right side is the USB-C charging port for the 900mah battery. I haven’t seen anywhere that the charging rate is listed.




The mouthpiece is very comfortable to use and is somewhat softer than the average mouthpiece on a disposable. When they are first opened there is a rubber plug in the mouthpiece that must be removed before using. The top of the device has a lanyard loop molded into the body in case that is something that you like to use.




FINAL THOUGHTS:

I very much like that Oxbar is listening to reviewers like me and has designed a device that allows the user to choose their own level of Ice which includes none at all if you so choose. The previous disposables that I’ve tested in both Oxbar and some other brands of disposables have just had too much cooling agent in them for my tastes. The flavors I’ve tried from Oxbar and Pod Juice have truly been my favorite flavors out of the disposables that I’ve tested but often wondered what the flavors would taste like without cooling agent. Now I can find out with the Oxbar Ice Nic 35K series of disposables. I kind of wish that I had received all of the flavors to try but it would have taken forever to test 20 different devices.

I really like how easy it is to adjust the Ice level and Nic level on the Ice Nic devices. It is simple enough that anyone should be able to figure it out. Honestly, the colors of the devices are a little loud for me but I’m sure many will like them. I tested all three of the samples that I received set for 15 watts and the airflow adjustment built into the power switch on the first setting after turning on the device which gave a nice loose MTL. I did try the different settings but preferred them with the Ice setting turned off and the Nic level on high. Out of the three that I received, the Strawberry Shortcake was my favorite flavor. Next up was the Jolly Watermelon. I’m not sure why but the Rocket Pop didn’t seem as flavorful as I remembered from trying it on other Oxbar devices. All three flavors are sweet and resemble a candy type flavor.
