The Computer Security forum was deactivated some time ago during one of the site updates and I didn't see a need to bring it back until now. There's a new threat floating around out there and as a lot of our members look for the best (read, cheapest) deals on the Internet, this could apply to you.


The problem here isn't so much that the devices were compromised after they were installed at the user's home, these devices came infected from the suppliers. Yes... The devices were already infected when purchased. Now this doesn't apply to phones. This applies to streaming devices used with your TV (and in some cases, the TV itself).


I don't expect y'all to understand the majority of this article (it's some pretty interesting stuff!), it's the affected device list at the bottom of the article. Having one of those devices isn't guaranteed to be infected, but there's a good chance that it is.

So here today we have the VINCI Spark 220 graciously provided by Sourcemore for the purpose of this review.

***Review***

I got this mod on Wednesday and have been running it with my silver Z tank using the .15ohm Z coil. The flavor is obviously pretty good considering it is a Z tank. The clouds are great too. Considering it's a Geekvape tank on a VOOPOO mod, I expected some issues due to difference in the brands, but I was surprised that there weren't many aside from 2 issues. This issue is that when you first go to hit it, every time it won't fire the first time you hit the fire button, but it will after that. If you leave it alone again for 5 or 6 minutes, it'll do the whole "no fire first time" thing again. It's a pain in the .... but it's not a major thing, just takes some adjusting (getting used to). The batteries don't drain as fast with this mod as they do with other brand mods like SMOK. The other issue is the battery panel is a pain to get off when you have no finger nails. Especially if you don't want to risk the paint job. That means the magnet holding the battery panel on are amazing but ya boy doesn't have fingernails and as such has to use the battery puller (the little cloth tab that goes under the batteries) to open the battery door when needing to charge them or switch them out for fresh batteries. A hack I've been doing is when I swap out the batteries, I'll put the pull tab off on the outside after putting it under the 18650 batteries and it opens it just fine. As for durability, it's pretty solid for not being an everything proof mod like a Geekvape Aegis. I've dropped it on my firehouse floor a couple times during a work detail friday night and couple of times on the pavement of my driveway. All that happened is a few scratches. Now onto the button and the screen. The screen is super easy to read even though it's smaller than I'd like, but everything, as I said is easy to find and read. The button is super easy to utilize as well. It's very clicky which I like, and clicking it 3x will get you to the menu which has all the stuff you'll need like puff count cleaner, theme changer, light turn on/off, as well as a button lock. The button lock option changes the function of the slider on the opposite side of fire button (left side when looking at screen). You can set that slider to do one of the following: lock fire button, lock the wattage, turn on/off the mod. I usually have it set to lock the wattage, because my previous VOOPOO mods like to change the wattage under smart mode. That leads me to the modes. There are 3, TC-NCR, SMART, and RBA. I use the RBA mode as it, IMO, puts out more clouds and better flavor. That mode is also more akin to Geekvapes BOOSTING mode on their L3 and Solo 3. Overall I'm impressed by it and can honestly see it in rotation for the next few months at least. Another let down though is the lack of 21700 capability. Seems like everyone is going back to 18650 capability only which sucks, but doesn't seem to affect this mod.

***Verdict***

If you're not usually fond of VOOPOO mods, but are looking for something, smaller, light and just as powerful as an Aegis Vape from Geekvape, look no further. Solid 8/10. This score is due to the fire button issue and lack of capability to use anything other than 18650 batteries.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS


I was a bit worried because the shipping company wasn't gentle with this package having a corner of the package smashed but after opening the contents were fine, Packaging was simple with a sealed slide out box from a outside cover. Opening the box showed all pieces in their own location, I knew this would be a looker but it exceeded my expectations. Something hardly ever seen as of the past few years are charging cords with some length to them the package has a nice longer one included.
The 18650 battery adaptor is stored inside the battery tube, removing the bottom battery cap to remove the tube I found the threads to be fine having no crunch to them.

It’s been years since I used a SMOK product, the last one was their famous TFV12 Cloud Beast Sub-Ohm tank which had its pro’s and more con’s in daily use. I was curious what SMOK can deliver in a pod-mod system and I was positively, very positively surprised and impressed!

Colour and design:

I’ve got the device kit in Pale Blue and there are a total of 7 traditional colours available (black, purple, blue, gold, pink, orange and silver), to cover a whole week. As you can see, the package is very ECO firendly and simple as well, which is the motivator for this kit.



The SMOK NOVO ECO has a classical vape pen style with all rounded edges. All the components are logically placed where they exactly should be located – other manufacturers should learn how to build such a functional vaping device! At the front, you see a discrete SMOK logo at the top and a big NOVO label placed vertically with a discrete white engraving, reading it backwards you can mistaken it for AVON or OAON..I am very impressed that it has a multifunctional button (that feels as a fingerprint reader on a laptop) which you also can use as a fire button – next to the default auto-draw function, yess! By pressing the button twice, you can choose between two power modes (green=soft, red=hard), pressing it five times turns the device on and off. There is a fancy yet discrete multicolour LED stripe above the button, which gives the device a modern look and stands out of the line. The LED flows for short in various colours of the rainbow when vaping and indicates the battery charge in 3 stages (green, amber and red). There is an airflow adjuster slide at the right side, which holds tight and is quite responsive. On the left side resides the USB-C charging port. The back side has a simple white NOVO ECO label engraved vertically.



Where the ECO environmental awareness comes into picture is their removable and disposable battery, that can be disconnected from the bottom. To date, I haven’t seen the battery sold separately, which would make the device reusable once the battery has died. Otherwise, it doesn’t make much sense to dispose the frame and the battery separately, in my view. The battery can last up to two years, by the time there will be maybe already nicotine capsule implants..

Battery performance:

The device has a moderate 1000 mAh battery, which give me 1-2 days of steady use. It charges fast in about half an hour and while charging, the led indicator shows your battery status blinking (red-amber-green). Due to security regulation, you cannot vape on it while charging. I anyways always charge my devices while removing the pod and I suggest you to do the same.



Size and weight:

121.3mm x 24.4mm x 14.4mm, 46.7 grams. Made of aluminium alloy and PA.

it just feels right in your palm and is very lightweight. Due to the removable battery which has a small black plastic frame at the bottom, it feels a bit cheap though.



In comparison: it is similar in size as the Voopoo ARGUS G2 Mini, a bit thicker and more robust.



Pod:

Here is where the device really shines: the kit comes with SMOK’s new SLR (Spring Loaded Refill) pod, which has the traditional EU regulatory 2 ml capacity. I paired it with a 20mg Strawberry Ice nic salt, the 2ml suffices a day’s need just well and satisfies my cravings while on-the-go. This new top filling method provides a hassle-free experience, no need to wipe plugs before and after filling it.

I got the 0.6-ohm meshed pod in the kit which gives superior taste, vapour and an exceptional much sought after MTL draw with a very decent throat hit, even in the soft mode. Boosting it in hard mode enhances this experience twice as strong! It gave me the closest cigarette like experience to date. It is possible to use the device with an 0.4-ohm pod for an RDL vape as there is an airflow adjuster.

The kit just comes with one pod unfortunately, although it has a long-life span. I am still using the original pod it came with and after 3 weeks of use it didn’t leak a single drop; the flavour and vapour are still as new! My order with the 1.0-ohm pods are in delivery. They come in a pack of four in a wide variety (even ceramic for other content) and are cheaper compared to the other high-end manufacturers. These NOVO pods are compatible throughout the whole NOVO line, thus will also fit with my new SMOK NOVO GT Box, which I will review next.



Final verdict:

The SMOK NOVO ECO excels and surpasses its competitors especially in this price-range. The device provides all the rings and bells a more advanced vape would give you, think on: fire button, airflow adjustment, two power modes, multi-level battery indicator, on/off button. The smart LED indicator replaces the need for a power consuming screen actually and gives it a modern look with the multi-colour responses. The SLR meshed pod is durable, classy and innovative. I cannot mention any cons, maybe just that plastic peace at the bottom.

These tests below only note my personal opinion for the ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, EVE, Ampace, Sinowatt, Lishen, BAK, or Sanyo can change at any time! This can be one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. Never use them outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous discharge rating (CDR), never let it get colder than 0°C or hotter than 60°C to help lower the risks and extend cell life, and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition. Never use a battery that is physically damaged in any way.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.




Test Results
This is a very good performing cell. But like all other ultra-high capacity cells you will not see any extra run time unless you are at a couple of amps or lower. Their internal resistance causes too much voltage sag at higher current levels and that causes the cell to reach the low voltage cutoff sooner.

Some specs and observations…

• This cell is rated 3900mAh minimum and 4050mAh typical.
• It has a 10A continuous current rating, which seems reasonable, and a temp-limited 12.5A rating (stop at 60°C).
• At 5A the LT 19660 (Ampace JP30?) and EVE 35V run for a bit longer than this Vapcell N41. But probably not a noticeable difference though.
• At 5A and 10A the Vapcell N41 cell runs for about the same amount of time as the EVE 30P, Molicel P28A, Molicel P30B, Murata VTC6, and Samsung 30Q6.
• As you can see, the N41’s higher capacity rating really only makes a difference at very low current levels. But if you are only drawing a couple of amps this is a top cell to consider using. At 5A it’s still a very good performer.
• The standard charge rating is 1.5A and the max is 2.5A. I recommend staying below 1.5A. Charging at 1A would be good for longer cycle life.
• The two cells I tested delivered 3963mAh and 3971mAh. This is fantastic consistency and exceeds the 3900mAh minimum spec. But neither cell reached the 4050mAh typical spec.
• DC internal resistance was 34.6mOhms and 36.9mOhms for both cells. Not very good consistency but I didn’t see any real difference in their performance at 5A and 10A.
• Like many ultra-high capacity cells, the N41 has a very low max temperature limit of 60°C. This is easily reached in a wrapped up battery pack or if you’re running a single cell hard. Do not allow the cell to go over 60°C.

Welcome to my site, today I bring you a comparison of the Voopoo ARGUS G3 Mini and the ARGUS G2 Mini basis my own experiences.

The two devices were introduced by Voopoo in a short time span - both as a simpler version to their more enhanced brothers: the ARGUS G3 Mini just came out, while the ARGUS G2 Mini was released a few months back. They were delivered about the same time to me. Voopoo keeps innovating, improving and overwhelms the market continously with new gadgets! Not a secret that 80% of the devices I own and kept using in daily rotation are all from Voopoo. Their devices, coils and pods have proven me steady quality and non-compromising vaping experience throughout the years!

Since there are many reviews already for both devices, I decided to compare the two side-by-side to help you deciding which one to choose.

Both devices are well built, classy and easy to use (auto-draw only) yet affordable, intended for those who are planning to transition from cigarettes or disposables or for the seasoned vapers who want a light, portable yet stylish vape for on-the-go. You can already try the flavour of vaping for the price of a box of cigarettes or a 600-puff disposable - go for it, you won’t regret with either of the devices!

I tested both devices for a month long and decided to take these two on our recent holiday to Paris. I gave them massive hits in the car, in the hotel and during the sightseeings in the warm weather we had luckily. Both devices satisfied my cravings decently.



Colour and design:

• G2 Mini: Red-violet, rounded edges, smooth touch and feel, I like the beautiful faded matte finish. While it is not a manly colour and it is more pink than red, I paired it with a passing 20mg Blueberry nic salt and I don’t mind vaping it in public. I like to use colour coding for my flavours as I can easily differentiate them when owning several vapes. The device has a trendy blue-green LED at the bottom which lights up for short when you pull a draw. It reminds me of the old cigarette shaped cartridge vape-pens which had a red or blue LED at the top mimicking a real cigarette draw. You can disable this LED with 3 pulls when it is bothering you. I actually like it as it adds to the experience. This device is more intended for the younger folks though, I would say.
  
  
• G3 Mini: Grass green, sleek and tiny, engraved diamond like pattern at both sides, matte finish with stylish polished elements. It is a bright and unusual, summer colour which I paired with a 20 mg Watermelon nic salt. It has just one LED indicator and is more sophisticated and mature in design, in my view.

Battery performance:

• G2 Mini: 1200 mAh battery, 5-30W performance, USB-C charging port at the bottom, charging time ~1 hour.
  
  
• G3 Mini: 1350 mAh battery, 5-30W performance, USB-C charging port at the ‘right’ side, charging time a bit over 1 hour.

While neither of the two devices does support fast charging, their long and reliable operating time compensate massively for this short downtime. I get 2-3 days of chain vaping with both devices.

Both devices have a simple small LED indicator for the battery charge which either lights white when fully or optimally charged and changes red when it has drawn below 15-20%. I am lacking a 3rd state in between which would warn you that it has dropped below 30-40%.

And here comes the trouble..the G2 Mini’s LED indicator resides at the very bottom of the device, which you will either cover with your fingers or when vaped reversed with the airflow slide in access to your thumb - you won’t even notice this small LED. I had to learn which side is the ‘front’ of the device: the side with the airflow adjuster or the side with the ARGUS logo and the battery indicator? It has happened to me that the indicator turned red and the battery drained short after without even noticing it, luckily, I have always a spare vape with me. You can prevent this phenomenon when topping up the battery daily.

On the G3 Mini, Voopoo already oriented this battery LED indicator more to the top of the device which remains visible when vaping. Since this device has no airflow adjustment, just two small airflow inlets at both sides you can hold the device facing the ARGUS logo and seeing the LED. This is apparently the ‘front’ of the device.

Neither of the devices shine here. I would like to see the airflow adjuster at the side on both devices (the G3 Mini has no airflow adjustment) and a 3-stage battery indicator at a visible and straightforward location, since there is no display or fire button that would clearly indicate which is the user-facing side.



Size and weight:

• G2 Mini: 115 mm x 25.6 mm x 13.4 mm, 48 grams, made of aluminium alloy and PC.
  
  
• G3 Mini: 97.9 mm x 25.8 mm x 13.7 mm, 40.85 grams, made of aluminium alloy.

The G3 Mini has a slightly bigger battery capacity despite it is much smaller (~ 2cm) and lighter than his counter partner. The G3 Mini is very compact in weight and size, a winner here!




Pod/cartridge:

• G2 Mini: Argus ICOSM top-filling cartridge 0.7-ohm, 3 ml capacity, 30 days leak-proof, 90 ml refill.
  
  
• G3 Mini: new Argus ICOSM 2.0 top-filling cartridge 0.7-ohm, 3 ml capacity, 30 days leak-proof, 90 ml refill.

It is true that these pods last for a whole month – unbelievable, but I achieved it with both pods filled with sweet nic salt juices of the same brand (Elfiq)!

The v1 ARGUS pod in the G2 Mini started to leak a little bit at the end of the month indicating a change, yet it still gave me the same flavour and vapour until the very end! There was no burnt taste throughout.

The new v2 ARGUS pod in the G3 Mini uses aerospace-grade heat resistant gold cotton for leak-proof guarantee. It still goes on after a month of use with no compromise in flavour or vapour and no leaks or condensation whatsoever. Luckily, they are compatible through the whole ARGUS pod-mod line. The v2 cartridge is the winner for me!

The magnetic pod connections hold tightly on both devices and they both produce a decent MTL vape with a good throat hit, I like the G2 Mini in this regard as I can even tighten the airflow with the adjuster for a more restricted vape. The G3 Mini gives a stronger, higher wattage and warmer hit in my sense.



Final verdict:

The minimalistic yet stylish design, the bigger battery and the very compact size along with the new ARGUS v2 pod made me the ARGUS G3 Mini the winner!
But I will keep using the G2 Mini as well

The ‘Parisian Studs’ engraving makes this little vape a true jewellery and while vaping this at home the flavour keeps reminding me of the wonderful time we’ve spent in Paris. It was a real eye-cather over there!

► VOOPOO VINCI Spark 220 Kit; Introduction:
The bottom of the Vinci Spark 220 is mostly flat, apart from the slightly curved ends, with the “CE” and disposal logos silkscreened on the surface.
The good footprint keeps the device stable next to you on the table. The battery panel removal is via a fingernail slot, so gentle pressure is needed to remove it. At the top of the Vinci Spark 220 is a circular steel plate, slightly raised and centrally positioned. The gold-plated pin is spring-loaded and insulated with a silicone O-ring.

The inside of the removable cover has safety information printed on it and the recommendation to use good quality batteries equal to or greater than 25A. Two large rectangular magnets are positioned above and below the battery compartment and on the back of the removable panel ensuring a solid attachment to the Vinci Spark 220 body. The battery slots are marked “+” and “–“ for correct insertion. The nylon strap marked “Spark Your Life” makes it easy to remove the batteries.

There is a switch on the top left side of the Mod; when you flip the switch, the lock/unlock symbol will be displayed on the screen and a locked or unlocked padlock will also be displayed on the main display to indicate which operation has been performed. You can then choose whether to disable/enable the Fire button and rotary wattage adjustment simultaneously, or whether to disable/enable the rotary wattage adjustment only. At the bottom is the Type-C charging port which is specified as 5V/3A. To use the full speed charging, you will need a QC compatible charging module. There is a 14mm diameter rotary knob on the right side of the Mod that protrudes outwards and for this reason it may be subject to damage if dropped. To make it easier to grip while rotating, the knob is knurled around its diameter and in the center is the wording "Powered by Everest Lab". This multifunctional button can act as a Fire button to activate the device, it can adjust the wattage and allows you to access different functions in the menu.

iVeni Duo, a new offering in the iVeni series launched today by Eleaf. After two versions that made compactness and ease of use their strong points, Eleaf has decided to return to its roots, introducing a novelty. With this Duo, Eleaf reintroduces the original iVeni, offering a pod with wattage adjustment, further simplified by a button. Novelties also concerning the Pods, with the new iVeni Duo enriching the iVeni Pod range. iVeni Duo offered free of charge by Eleaf, without receiving money or having employment relationships with them.



In terms of upgrades, the iVeni Duo also presents some novelties with its 1300 mAh battery, 200 mAh more than the first iVeni, and a sleeker line, losing some weight. The casing is still aluminum but is less massive than the first version and in line with the two "small" ones, weighing 55 grams. The dimensions are quite standard for pods with this form factor, 120 x 24 x 14 mm.



The box changes from black to white to underline the change but the presence of a scratch and check to guarantee originality remains unchanged. Inside, the iVeni Duo battery body, two iVeni Pods of 1.2 and 0.8 ohm, a substantial instruction manual, and a USB Type-C cable.



iVeni Duo Pod, unlike the first series, is available in 2 and 3 ml capacity and made of the same smoky PCTG. Refill is via a side plug, so there's no need to remove the iVeni Duo Pod from the battery body. iVeni Pod Duo is visually recognizable thanks to its green bottom, a color dear to Eleaf. Backward compatibility with "old" iVeni models is present, always keeping in mind their maximum wattage depending on the model where they are to be used.



It's also possible to mount normal iVeni Pods on the new iVeni Duo, provided, as specified by Eleaf, that they are used in Eco mode. Another modification is the significantly larger cotton windows to allow faster liquid wicking and prevent dry hits. A discovery of the iVeni Pod Duo is to exploit the double mesh section accompanied by what will be seen later as the two delivery modes of the iVeni called Eco and Power.

The 1.2 and 0.8Ω are available in the package and I believe this is the "real" target of this iVeni Duo; I imagine another pod will arrive designed to exploit the 0.6 Ω. These below are instead the "original" series with a single mesh section, always compatible in Eco mode:

The substantial difference between Duo and normal is an even greater responsiveness, with increased vapor production as well as sweetness. Therefore, they are dedicated to creamy, fruity, and perhaps even some flavored tobacco. There's also a slight hint of throat hit even when vaping at 0 mg. When initializing the Duos, whatever method you use, give them more than the usual 5 minutes, especially the 0.6, despite its size, is an RDL pod and has cotton inside.



The slot for inserting the iVeni Pods remains similar to those of other pods, with the difference that the gold-plated movable pins for detecting the iVeni Pods are 3 and not two, but they don't create reading problems with normal ones. Laterally, the usual two magnetic plates allow the Pods not to slip out, and lastly, an automatic draw sensor.



Airflow control knob that remains identical to the one on the iVeni, with 3 holes that gradually increase in diameter. It goes from the single one designed for softer iVeni Pods to the 3 that should manage RDL ones. Therefore, the vaping target remains unchanged, from open MTL to RDL, even with the new iVeni Duo Pods.



A USB Type-C port is also installed on the bottom cap here to recharge the battery, which on the Duo reaches 1300 mAh. 2A charging is confirmed; depending on how drained the battery is when the cable is inserted, it takes just under an hour to reach 100%, and in an emergency, Eleaf says it reaches 80% charge in (about) 30 minutes.



The biggest novelty on this iVeni Duo is the chrome button, like the air selector, which several manufacturers have already experimented with on box mods, called the "Twist - Push Button." When pressed, it's used as a fire button or for circuit input, while rotating it in either direction transforms it into what on other pods are the + and - buttons for wattage selection. The "Color Screen" pays the price, remaining quite minimal despite its curious shape that follows the profile of the fire button.



The circuit, despite the screen size, allows for several functions:
5 clicks of the fire button to turn the iVeni Duo on or off
4 clicks of the fire button to lock or unlock firing via the fire button (automatic draw remains active)
3 clicks of the fire button to enter wattage selection mode
2 clicks of the fire button to change delivery mode (Eco / Power)

The battery level is checked via the 3 bars on the screen:
3 bars: 100-71% battery
2 bars: 70-31% battery
1 bar: 30-1% battery

Protections:
8-second firing cutoff
Low voltage/low battery if it drops below 3.0 volts during a puff or if it's below 3.3 volts while in standby
Short circuit protection and resistance range read between 3 and 0.3 Ω



The iVeni Duo Eleaf Pod is mainly focused on the new iVeni Duo pod offering, but it actually presents a significant upgrade with the battery body. 200 mAh is a nice increase. The new fire button, while rarely used for wattage selection, is much more agile than doing everything with a single button. iVeni Duo is valid for getting familiar with Eleaf pods, especially if you are users of these types of devices, given the range of pods that rivals some atomizers.
