I have successfully been smoke-free for two years now, but I find it increasingly challenging to resist the urge for those regular cigarettes. Hello and welcome back for another review. This time I will be taking a look at the Oxpod Elite pod system that was sent to me by Oxbar in order to provide you with a fair and honest review. The Elite has an internal 1300mah battery which produces an output range of 5-30 watts. It comes with an 8ml refillable pod that is rated for 25,000 puffs before it needs to be replaced. I’m guessing that this might be affected by the type of liquid used in the pod. The Elite is lightweight but has a nice feel to it with real leather side panels.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The Oxpod Elite reminds me of a device that I previously reviewed called the RRD. On that unit the pod was fixed and not replaceable. On the Elite, it comes with an 8ml pod installed that can be replaced. It is my understanding that there is also a .6 ohm pod available. I didn’t receive any but would like to try one.

The packaging for the Elite gives quite a bit of information on the front of the box including not only the name of the device but a color picture of the actual device, a list of features, the Pod Juice logo, and it lets you know that genuine leather is used on the side panels. The back side of the box has a contents list, specifications, company information, and a large warning label. Oxbar was nice enough to include two samples and a spare box of pods.

I received the Navy Blue and Titanium Silver versions as samples. One side of the Elite has the Oxbar name stamped into one side of the leather and the opposite side has the Pod Juice and Oxpod Elite names stamped into the leather.

One of the thinner sides has a sliding airflow control and the other side has a simple display that shows the set wattage and a battery level indicator. There is a single button used to change the wattage or power on/off the device. Press the button five times to turn it on/off or press the button three times to adjust the wattage. With the included .8 ohm pod, the output is restricted to 22 watts maximum so gives the user the 5-22 watt range. I didn’t receive any but am told that the .6 ohm pod will allow the user to utilize the maximum rated 30 watt available output.

The pod opening has two strong magnets that match up with the magnets on the bottom of the pod. There are three spring loaded contacts and the airflow sensor opening. The pod has contacts on the bottom that will match up with those on the device. The resistance and wattage range for the pod are clearly printed on the bottom which is a nice added feature. The pod is filled by lifting the rubber fill port plug on the bottom. The pods hold a massive 8ml of liquid which allows the user a long period of use before needing to refill while using the .8 ohm pods. The pods are slightly tinted but the liquid level is clearly visible through them.

The charge port for the 1300mah internal battery is located on the bottom of the Elite and the battery rating is also printed on the bottom.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

It has been my pleasure to be able to test the Oxpod Elite refillable pod system. I found it interesting that the Pod Juice name was on the box and device but there was no liquid included with the device. Oxbar has been partnering with Pod Juice for a while now on their disposable units that are filled with their liquids. It might be a nice option to package a bottle of Pod Juice with the Elite but not an option that I am aware of.

I filled one of the sample pods with an RY4 cream mix that I have used quite a bit. The flavor production was decent for a pod but as flavorful as an rta. I set the wattage to the maximum allowable 22 watts for this pod and tightened the airflow down some for a loose MTL. The vapor production was plenty for a pod device. Next I filled the other sample with a rhubarb custard mix that I use regularly. The flavor was decent but a little muted compared to what I’m used to on a sub ohm tank but that is expected. I know the maximum rating on the .8 ohm pod is 22 watts but think that I could have accessed the rest of the output range on the Elite then I could have pushed the pod to produce better flavor. This is why I’m not really a fan of the smart function used on many devices that restricts the output according to the resistance of the coil/pod.

Overall, the Oxpod Elite is a well-built device with nice leather side panels and has a liquid capacity that gives the user freedom from worrying about refilling when taking the Elite out and about for a day. That and the 1300mah battery should give the average user well over a day of use. I’d like to thank Oxbar for sending the Oxpod Elite pod kits and spare pods for this review.
