Back 'in the day' my 1st MOD's were tube like. In those days they were VV (Variable Voltage) regulated, 1-3 buttons and generally took 1-2 18350's as the replaceable battery(s).

As time moved on and devices evolved I generally went onto using other shaped mods. However I always liked the 'tube' form factor. Fast forward sometime later Dicodes was offering (at the time) the only Temperature Regulated Tube mod on the market. However costing $200-400 a copy (depending on model) they were rather rare and could generally only be ordered from England as an import to the USA.
At some point in time Ehpro released their '101' mod for <$75 which they claimed could also do TC mode. Frankly I'm not sure how much I paid for ether the Ehpro or the Dicodes (I own 2 of them, one SS and one Titanium version).

Mounted on the Dicodes25 is a KF5-25, on the Eh101 is a KF5 clone. Funny, they both perform similar and have similar functions.

While the Dicodes might still be in production, the KF5's and the Eh tube mods are no longer in production

So what's the point? One of the setups cost over $450USD new while the other cost ~$75 new.

Moral of story: Cost does not always equate to anything more than cost.

TBH, I have typically stayed AWAY from reviewing Pods, or Pod Systems. The two exceptions being the Yihi SXmini PureMax, and PureMax 2, as a disclaimer. I love my simple ex, the draw is so perfect i cant match it with almost anything else. It comes with 2 top caps, one for rdl vaping which is ultem and fits super tight and one metal top cap which is for mtl which i prefer and has the prefect draw. Unfortunately the metal top cap does not fit tight at all and this becomes an issue because it tends to rotate on its own and away from the airhole i have it set for. I tried plumbers tape around the rda and that works but has the disadvantage of having to remove the plumbers tape if i want to switch to the other top cap for rdl vaping.

I need a solution, i guess, that involves doing something to the metal top cap itself so it fits tighter and not messing with the rda. Even thicker o-rings on the rda will work but then i can't use the ultem top cap at all. Any tips especially if anyone has experienced a similar issue with a top cap and found a solution would be much appreciated.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging for the Vaporesso Armour Ultra mod is much like any other Vaporesso product that I’ve seen in the past. The front is black with a large green V for Vaporesso logo in the background. There is a color picture of the device contained inside with the name below. There is also a gold badge letting you know that this mod has a built in 5500mah battery. The back of the box has a list of specifications, a contents list, and company information.





The Armour Ultra is available two ways. It can be purchased as the mod only or as a kit with an iTank and coils included. I received the mod only in Storm Blue. I have been a long time user of the iTanks and if you are looking for a reliable tank with good flavor production then by all means pick up the kit.

One side of the mod has what I would call a badge with the IP69K designation stamped into the side. The opposite side has a sliding switch that locks the mod completely. As you can see, there is a lock symbol in the open position on the bottom indicating that the mod is unlocked. Once locked both the fire and adjustment buttons are disabled. The back of the mod has a metal frame with the Vaporesso name stamped into it. It separates a leather like wrap on either side of the frame.







The front of the Ultra has a large fire button with the Armour name stamped into it. The button sits very close to flush with the face of the mod so it deters from accidental firing. Under the fire button is where the color display sits. Maybe it’s just my old eyes but I have a very difficult time reading puff counter and coil resistance. There is a battery percentage as well as a battery indicator near the top. That is followed by the mode of operation and set wattage. There is also a small lock/unlock symbol. Below the display are the + and – buttons. There is a rubber plug cover that once rotated out of the way exposes the USB-C charging port. The Ultra can be charged at a rate of 5V/3A with the proper charger. The button/menu operation is as follows.

• Press the fire button 5X to turn the device on/off
• Press the fire button 3X to enter the menu
• Once in the menu, you can select from the modes Boost(high output), Pulse, Eco, or TC
• In System Settings, there is Smart, Watt Lock, Themes, Puffs, Brightness, TCR Lock, and Default

The top of the mod has a raised circular pattern to help so that tanks don’t scratch up the top of the mod once screwed down. The 510 plate is held in place by four Torx head screws and the 510 connection has a spring loaded and plated center pin. The base of the mod has a rubberized base with the device name and battery rating on it. It has a nice wide body and is very stable when standing up.
