► Eleaf iStick i40 Kit; First Impressions:
Eleaf is a giant in the vaping world and has an incredibly rich catalog of kits to satisfy any need. I just finished the Eleaf iStick Power Mono Kit review which in some respects is very similar to the iStick i40 Kit of this test. However there are some differences, and Eleaf seems to have wanted to give an opportunity to those who research; greater compactness without giving up a large internal battery and optimized performance for MTL with the Tank GTL D20. In the image below you can see iStick i40 Kit together with iStick Power Mono Kit and Eleaf FlasQ, this triptych of devices shares the same GTL coil platform, of course the 40W power limit of iStick i40 Mod limits the choice in favor of 0.8 and 1.2Ω coils for MTL.



► Eleaf iStick i40 Kit; How it is made:
For this test I received two different kits, one with Fuchsia Pink color and the other with Greenery color, the metal mix with ultra soft and ultra smooth leather decoration offers a very pleasant tactile feedback never seen before in devices of this range. The leather (or imitation leather) decoration features two hot-embossed writings; on one side the logo and "Eleaf", on the other side "iStick i40".



The back part (handle) is entirely covered with a soft leatherette insert for a truly comfortable grip. The control panel incorporates; the display, the round-shaped Fire key that is slightly protruding, the "+" and "-" adjustment keys marked and placed above a single rocker-shaped key, at the bottom is the USB-C charging socket .



► Eleaf iStick i40 Kit; Operation Guide:
The small monochrome display in the basic VW mode (Power) shows; the impedance of the coil, the charge level, the selected power and the duration of the current puff. The fonts are well sized and visible.
• Turn on/off: 5 clicks on the Fire button.
• Menu: 3 clicks on the fire key, use the "+" or "-" keys to choose one of the following modes; Mode Power, Mode Volts, SET SCRN. The power is adjustable from 1 to 40W in 0.5W steps per click. The voltage is adjustable from 0.5V to 8V.
• In SET SCRN Mode you can disable the display by pressing OFF (stealth mode).
• To rotate the screen 180°, press the Fire key and the "-" key simultaneously.
• Lock/Unlock: You can lock/unlock the "+" and "-" adjustment buttons by pressing both at the same time.



► Eleaf iStick i40 Kit; 510 thread and bottom base:
The upper base shows; the wording "sample" (only kits sent to reviewers), two French screws, the 510 steel cup with a gold-plated floating pin inside. The iStick i40 Mod can accommodate MTL tanks up to 25mm in diameter without any external protrusions.
On the lower base there are; two French screws, three vent holes, the disposal logo and the CE mark. The base is wide enough to keep the mod standing steadily without problems



► Eleaf GTL D20 Tank:
This tank is made up of a classic Pctg POD in light color and circular shape that takes advantage of the magnetic connection to match with a metal base with 510 thread and integrated AFC. The drip tip is wide enough, however it is replaceable with any 510 type drip tip. The cartridge can be refilled with e-liquid from the top (3ml) by sliding the top cap and following the arrow. The GTL Coil is inserted from the bottom with a slight pressure.



► Eleaf GTL D20 Tank; AFC:
The knurled ring rotates and is equipped with rotation stops, for regulating the air flow there are two slots and you can use two sets of opposing holes. A series of 4+4 holes that I will call RDL adjustment and a series of 3+3 holes that I will call MTL adjustment. With both RDL and MTL solutions you can select 1+1 holes until they are all open at the same time. Naturally the diameter of the holes for RDL is larger than the holes for MTL adjustment.



► Eleaf GTL Coils:
You can use GTL D20 Tank with the great GTL coil platform, in the kit you get two upgraded “Black” series GTL coils 0.8Ω and 1.2Ω.



► Eleaf iStick i40 Kit; Final conclusions and vaping test:
This entry-level kit offers several points of interest for both the i40 mod and the D20 tank. This iStick i40 goes well with the small original tank, but can accommodate any MTL atomizer with a diameter of up to 25mm, making it a very interesting mod. I have already talked about the good finishes of the iStick i40 and the covering material made of "sexy" leather to the touch, so it remains for me to say that the iStick i40 Mod combines compact dimensions with a respectable 2600mAh battery that it guarantees long autonomy and, if desired, you can reduce the energy demand of the cell by deactivating the display (Stealth Mode). The battery fully recharges in about 60 minutes. The iStick i40 chipset has a high level of safety protections, however the reading of the value of the coils is rather approximate but does not create problems, the circuit offers good performance with the only two modes available (Watt and Volt). Now I'm telling you about Eleaf GTL D20 Tank, this economically designed vaporizer is well made, it is very comfortable and quick to fill via the simple slide of the top cap, it also offers interesting performance for MTL with an air regulation ranging from very narrow or wide enough for RDL. You can also replace the original large drip-tip with the 510 one you prefer. For this test I used 10ml of Crispy concentrated aroma diluted in a neutral base VG:50/PG:50 + boost 3mg/ml.

• Coil GTL 0.8Ω Kanthal 12-18W:
With this coil I left the original drip-tip inserted which I think is perfect for airy MTL aspirations but also for a moderate RDL type vape. With all 4+4 holes open (wide holes) and with 18W of power selected, the vapor is substantial and the flavor is good, however the configuration I use with the most pleasure is 15W with 2+2 holes open (wide holes). In this way I get the most suitable heat of vaporization for me, with a greater concentration of flavor and hit in the throat.

• Coil GTL 1.2Ω Kanthal 7-13W:
With this coil I replaced the original drip-tip with another one having a small internal hole that is better suited to restricted MTL aspirations. The airflow adjustment using the slots that contain the series of 3 small holes is particularly spot on. I believe that every MTL vaper can find the narrow hit he was looking for and even the most fanatic of this MTL discipline will be satisfied. Furthermore, this economical tank offers flawless and fluid operation even with the air completely closed.

Unboxing and Usage Highlights






I was sent 5 samples for this review. The flavours I got are Mango Ice, Strawberry Icecream, Pineapple Mango, Banana Ice and Strawberry Kiwi. I only got a chance to try 3 so far, I don't want to open them all and have them go to waste. That said, I have finished 2 and am on my third, so this will still be a fair review.

The boxes are pretty much the same as the Dragbar F600 boxes, so I wont go into detail describing them. Even still, they are very nice. I love how small they are, least amount of waste possible is optimal in my opinion, especially when dealing with waste heavy disposables already. They have pictures of the disposables and their flavours on the boxes, and the boxes are so colourful!









The first flavour I tried was the Strawberry Icecream. I'm a sucker for dessert/sweet flavours and this one stuck out immediately. Opening the box, there's a plastic baggy which contains the device. Opening the bag, you are immediately slapped in the face with whatever flavour the disposable is as it's very pungent (NOT A BAD THING). Since it's a 600 puff disposable there isn't a need to charge it, you can take the sticker off the bottom (blocks airflow while in packaging) and the silicone plug in the mouthpiece and start puffing right away.

I was met with a strawberry flavour right away on the inhale. The exhale was a creamy, sugary flavour but it didn't remind me of Ice Cream. It was more of a strawberry marshmallow candy mixed with some sort of slight caramel. It also had the slightest touch of koolada to try and mimic the ice cream coolness. All in all I really enjoyed this flavour.

The disposable lasted me about 4 days of moderate vaping, but it probably would have lasted longer if I didn’t enjoy the flavour as much as I did.





The next flavour I tried was the Banana Ice. It's packaging is the same as the other, except the change in picture as this one shows the Banana Ice disposable and names the flavour. It also is contained in a bag like the other was. And JUST like the other flavour, upon opening the bag you are met with an insane amount of fragrance that matches the flavour of the device, which was that beautiful banana scent that reminds me so much of taking penicillin as a kid.

The flavour is EXACTLY that. The banana flavour from that penicillin syrup. I love that flavour. I think those candy marshmallow bananas also have the same flavour. On the inhale it's banana up until the last 15%, which then gets a koolada kick. On the exhale it's totally a chilly banana lol it's a mix of banana and koolada on the way out.

This disposable lasted me 5 days of light to moderate vaping before the flavour dropped off significantly.

I started a third flavour but didn't take pictures of my unboxing. The third flavour was the Pineapple Mango. It's packaging was the same, with similar changes to the picture to show this disposable and it's flavour. It also was packaged in a baggy and it also had that pungent explosion when I started ripping the bag open. This flavour wasn't my favourite, but it just might be yours! I'm not the biggest tropical fruit fan, but wanted to give it a go anyway as it's been a while since the last time I tried a mango based flavour. The inhale was mainly pineapple with a touch of mango, but the pineapple was pretty sweet. On the exhale you're met with a mango heavy mix of the 2 fruit. As far as I could tell, there wasn't any koolada in this mix, which is a refreshing change for a disposable.

I haven't finished this disposable yet, I only opened it last night. I figure it will last about the same as the others before the flavour drops off and the wicking starts to burn, that is if I finish it. I'm still not a fan of Mango flavoured anything haha

Alright, I would recommend these disposables to anyone wanting to try and quit smoking via vaping, anyone who may have forgotten their vape of choice at home and has to find SOMETHING and QUICK, as well as anyone who is just curious about vaping in general as these don't cost much, don't last too long and if you don't like the flavour you haven't lost out on that much money. Just PLEASE try and RECYCLE disposables anywhere you can. Every country, state, province, territory or whatever, has their own rules regarding recycling disposables. Please ask wherever you purchase your disposables if they have or know of a disposable recycling program.
