Hello everyone,

So I am a new vaper I have only been vaping for 2 weeks. I started my vaping journey out with the goal of quitting smoking cigarettes. And I started with the voopoo argus air pod system which was ok. It is a great stealth vaping and back up device in my opinion but it was dieing way to fast for my liking. So I recently upgraded to the geekvape aegis x and I am running the geekvape Zeus sub ohm tank with a .4 coil at 60-65 watts. This range seems to be working out the best for me. I originally started out in the 40-50 watt range but everything that I have read including the coils themselves suggests that you run that with 60-70 watts. So I have been doing so as I do not want to mess anything up. And being new I am not sure how much lower I can go without causing any issues. Voopoo Drag H80s Kit ~ A review by AngeNZ​

Introduction:​

This device was sent to me from Sourcemore for the purposes of an unpaid, neutral review. The Drag H80s is actually my first pod mod from Voopoo. I may be late to the game but Voopoo sure isn't, they have brought out a plethora of versions since their first Drag S/X.

The Drag H80s is a more compact, streamlined device powered by an 18650 external battery. It features a 4.5ml top-fill tank compatible with the vast PnP coil range. How does this edition stack up? Let's find out!

Kit Contents:​

Tank and Coils:​

Voopoo have gone for a traditional twist-off top tank, which reveals two fill ports. The tank is a generous 4.5ml and is nice and clear to see your juice levels.

I found it easiest to open by holding the drip-tip, and twisting the cap anticlockwise. The fill ports are membraned and accept a 100ml Chubby Gorilla bottle nozzle. This design works extremely well in making the tank leak-proof.

The non-removable drip tip is of a wider bore id at the top and narrows down to a 6mm id chimney. It is aimed more in the RDL/DL range than a tight MTL. Anything in-between is possible if that is your style.

The Drag H80s' airflow adjustment is clever and can be fine-tuned to your preferences by turning the tank. I'll talk more about this below in the Device section.

To switch out your coil flip the tank upside down. If you have any juice left, this may drain out so do it over a sink or napkin. Then just pull out the old coil, and slot in the new one.

I was glad to see Voopoo bring out an 18650 pod mod that uses their large range of PnP coils, For this device they have included their new RDL 0.3Ω TW30 coil and a new DL 0.15Ω TW15 coil. Both of these coils feature Voopoo's Dual In One Tech. According to Voopoo this provides more vapour and flavour, while needing less power and therefore using less ejuice.



0.3Ω (28-36watts) Coil:

I started this coil at 20 watts and it was a cool vape with good flavour and good vapour production. Up at 25 watts, the flavour improved and so did the vapour. Around 30 watts was where I found the best flavour and it was a smooth, slightly warm vape. This was my personal preference for this coil and it produced smooth, rich vapour. I took it up to 35 watts, where it was of course warmer and with more vapour.

This is a good all-round coil for the 25-35 wattage range. I preferred it with the airflow wide-open, however it performed just as well with the airflow more restricted.

0.15Ω (55-70watts) Coil:

I'm more of a mid-wattage vaper. But I don't mind trying out new things, or clouding out the room now and then! I started this coil at 40 watts and it surprised me how fast it ramped up. It was a cool vape with decent flavour and vapour. At 50 watts was my personal preference. It's a slightly warm vape, the flavour was fantastic and it produced smooth, thick vapour.

In the 55-60 watts range is where this coil truly shines. The flavour is at its best and brings out even more notes in your juice. The vapour is thick, rich and majorly cloudy. The only downside is your battery time is reduced at this wattage.

PnP Coil Range:

Along with the two coils above, any of Voopoo's PnP coils will fit in this device. If you prefer a lower wattage coil, this gives you more options. There's also the PnP RBA coil, which may appeal more to those of us who enjoy rebuildables.

Device:​

The Drag H80s is extremely comfortable to hold and use. The 'leather' panel makes it grippy and adds appeal to its looks. For an 18650 pod mod, it is definitely in the small and sleek category. It's in the mid-range for weight. Full tank and with a battery it weighs 175g. I like the recessed tank design and how it makes this device shorter. The top slots in the mod work well to see your juice level, once it's down below.

The large fire button is in a good position and the adjustment buttons are large and well spaced out. I've had no button rattling or sticking.

Airflow Adjustment:

One of the best features of the Drag H80s is how they have designed the airflow adjustment. The tank is firmly attached by magnets to the deck and the coil base sits in the small basin. By turning the tank you activate a slider which closes off the airflow to both sides. By further turning, you can open up one side only or complete the turn for both sides back open. This really allows you to completely fine-tune the airflow to what works best for you.

Gene.TT 2.0 Chip:

This is my first device with Voopoo's Gene.TT 2.0 chip and I like what I see. The screen is large, clear and shows you every single detail you could ever want to know. The device fires extremely fast and has every safety feature you expect in a regulated mod. Where this chip shines, is in its ramp up ability with mid to high wattage coils.

There are three modes available Smart (default) Rba and Eco. To access the menu press down the top and bottom adjustment buttons together. You can lock the device, including the fire button by pressing down the fire button and top adjustment button. To unlock repeat. 5 clicks turns the device off or on.

Smart mode (default): This is wattage/power mode that automatically sets the wattage range of your coil based on its resistance. If you want to go higher than this range, switch to Rba mode.

Rba (Wattage): You set the wattage 5 - 80 watts

Eco: Reduces power usage by dimming the screen. Once your battery hits 40% you are asked if you wish to switch to this mode, if you don't have a battery handy then you may like this mode.

Battery cover:

Pulling off the leather grip accesses the battery compartment. The positive is marked with a large + and the positive end is beneath the tank. There's no marking for the negative end, which could have easily been done. The battery is held snuggly with the negative end springing up. Try and press down with the battery when removing it, so you don't damage your wrap. (Never use a battery with a tear or damage to the wrap)

The Bottom Line:​

There's a lot to like about Voopoo's Drag H80s. The design and size of the pod tank works well and I'm glad to see a top-fill tank. The PnP coils lasted well and produced some really good flavour and plenty of vapour. I preferred the 0.3Ω coil as it suited my wattage range. However the flavour was slightly better with the cloudy 0.15Ω coil.

The device itself is compact, sleek and with the recessed tank very pocket friendly. I loved how fast the chip fired and its big clear screen. The way it ramps up the higher wattage coil is great. The airflow design is well thought-out and my stand out feature. Being able to go from wide-open dual-sided airflow, down to a single-sided pinprick will suit the majority of vapers.

Compared to Voopoo's original Drag X/S it's clear how much refinement this edition has had. It's a worthy competitor in the pod mod market.

In each case, I've checked the devices were fully charged, that there was the correct level of liquid in the tank and that the coil was fitted correctly. I've even tried replacing the coil and using both the 0.6 and 1.2 versions. Still nothing.

I don't think it's a bad batch as I bought two online and one from a shop. The woman at the shop says they're really reliable and rarely break - so why have I broken three of them? Two of them lasted two or three weeks. The third lasted maybe half an hour!
