On this thread, David always felt like a bit of an enigma to me .. over the years, bits of this and that would come out, but he generally kept fairly close to the vest .. as opposed to me, who has regurgitated probably more than anyone ever wanted to read over those same years ..
Things here were feeling empty to me even while David was active on the thread and after David stopped posting and many felt the worst had happened, I tried to hold out hope that he was still out there and would be coming back ..
Since way back when, I've tried my best to learn or at least, get a feeling, of any and all members that routinely post .. sadly, those numbers have consistently fallen, year in and year out .. sometimes, I've seriously flirted with shutting things down, since I don't feel like we should go out with a whimper, like the Old Folks threads did ..
I think back to all that have come and gone over the years, all that have shared some piece of their lives here and have moved on either by their own volition or been taken away, it's a long list ..
David would consistently post a cartoon of some sort, he leaned left on his beliefs, lived on some property in a modest home, was an avid reader, had quite the book collection .. loved his cat(s) .. talked about making a supply run to town when they needed things .. he would always write about visiting his Dad at least once a year for his birthday .. his Dad lived a long time, making it to around 100 if memory serves .. yet, when his Dad died, he did not mention it until asked .. there is more to his story, but these are just things that stick out in my mind ..
Listen to this James Taylor rendition .. in my opinion, this version reflects the years Taylor carries, and, is actually better than the original .. Taylor is 77 now, it's hard for me to believe that time has passed so long since this was a regular radio hit song ..
Sending this out to David, our friend and longtime member of the Digital Campfire we gather around ..
