GEEKVAPE OBELISK 65 FC POD MOD review by hittman

It’s been a little while since I’ve reviewed a Geekvape product but here I am again with the latest and greatest from them. Over the years Geekvape has put out some really great products that I’ve had the privilege of testing and now they have continued that trend with the new Geekvape Obelisk 65 FC pod mod which is the first fast charging pod mod. The 65 FC is powered by built in TUV tested dual 1100mah batteries and offers a maximum of 65 watts of output. Besides offering multiple output modes, it also has OTG reverse charging which could possibly come in handy in some situations.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The packaging of the Obelisk 65 FC is typical Geekvape packaging rather than the nicer review sample packaging that samples sometimes arrive in. Nothing wrong with that. On the front is the Geekvape name with a swirl design and on the back is a list of features rather than a contents list. I’m guessing on retail packaging that there would be a list of contents. It is marked as a sample after all and near the bottom is the contact information for Geekvape.

upload_2021-11-19_20-30-35.png

Once opened, I was very pleased with the appearance of the 65FC that I received which is the Lava design. The 65FC with the pod and .2 ohm coil rated for 50-58 watts were pre-installed and the coil had a film over it to keep it from being fired before filling the pod. Underneath the foam insert was a second coil which is .4 ohm and rated 25-35 watts. Both coils are the B series coils that many people may already be familiar with. I have used them many times. They are really a pretty good flavor producing coil. I really have no complaints with them. Also included is a coil removal tool, USB-C charging cable, and user manual.

The Display of the 65FC is very bright and shows the following information.

- Mode of operation

- Output setting

- Battery level indicator

- Coil resistance

- Output Voltage

- Puff counter/ Length of current puff while fire button is pressed

To me the fire button seems kind of spongy rather than clicky like several mods. It really doesn’t bother me but just something I noticed. Also I felt like I would have liked the fire button to be a little larger. There is the Obelisk symbol on the fire button which has a nice texture to it. The adjustment buttons however are a little clicky which may please some users.

The button operation of the 65FC is as follows:

- Press the fire button 5 times to turn the device on/off

- Press the + and – buttons to lock the adjustment buttons but it will still fire

- Press the fire and + or – button to adjust the screen brightness

- Press the fire button 3 times to highlight the mode of operation which lets the user access the following options: Smart, Power, TC-SS, TC-TCR, VPC, Bypass, and OTG

- Press and hold all three buttons to enter stealth mode

- Press the fire button 3 times then press the + and – buttons to change the theme color

- Turn the device off then press and hold the + and – buttons until the software information is displayed and then press all three buttons to do a factory reset.

upload_2021-11-19_20-31-39.png

Both sides of the mod came with a plastic film covering them. I tend to leave these on as long as I can to protect the mod. Kind of like a screen protector for phones. The right side of the mod has the Geekvape name printed on the colored panel. It doesn’t bother me but feel like the font size could have been a little smaller.

upload_2021-11-19_20-32-20.png

The left side has the Geekvape name also printed on the colored panel and also the USB-C charging port is on the lower part of the frame. I would have thought that perhaps they would have put something different on each side like perhaps the Obelisk name or symbol instead of the Geekvape name on both sides. The back side of the mod has a ridge molded into it very similar to how the Obelisk 200 had on its spine.

upload_2021-11-19_20-33-4.png

upload_2021-11-19_20-33-25.png

The opening for the pod to sit inside has a ledge near the front. There are two very strong magnets that hold the pod very securely. There are of course two gold plated spring loaded contacts that make connection with the coil once the pod is inserted.

The B series coils sit in the pod at an angle and there are two flats molded into the bottom of the pod that the flats of the coils align with when installing a new coil. The coils sits flush with the bottom of the pod. There are two magnets on the bottom of the pod that match up with the magnets on the base of the pod opening on the mod.

Besides the Geekvape name branding on both sides the Obelisk name is on the bottom of the mod along with the Obelisk symbol and Designed by Geekvape.

I feel like the 4.5ml liquid capacity of the included pod is a good fit for the 2200mah battery. The pod is somewhat tinted and I would actually prefer a clear pod to make viewing the liquid level easier but it can be seen some with a bright light in the room.

The included drip tip is removable but I found it quite comfortable to use. The liquid fill hole is a decent size and the rubber plug is easily removed and will swivel some out of the way for filling. It is mostly mess free but I did have to wipe after reinserting the fill plug. I have a tendency of filling a little bit too much.

The airflow control on the sample I received is fairly stiff to turn. It’s probably supposed to be like that so it doesn’t get moved accidentally. I liked the airflow about 1/3 open with the .4 ohm coil and the mod running at 31.5 watts. This coil was a good fit for me for my vaping style as well as getting what I thought was good battery life. I already had the Geekvape fast charger so with the battery run down to 20% after 343 puffs it only took about 13 minutes to charge the battery completely. With the .2 ohm coil I ended up running it a bit lower than the rated settings. I ended up at 45 watts with the airflow completely open. It was still a bit warm for me as I like a cooler vape.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I meant to mention this earlier but Geekvape is the official partner of Paris Saint-Germain FC. I don’t know much about soccer but take it that this is a big deal.

I very much enjoyed testing the Geekvape Obelisk 65 FC pod mod. The Obelisk 120 FC that I previously reviewed was the first of the fast charging devices from Geekvape but there are more to come in the future.

I think the B series coils deliver very good flavor and with the adjustable airflow it’s easy to find a setting and vapor temperature to fit my vaping style.

The mod itself is very comfortable to hold and is small enough that it is almost hidden in the palm of my hand except for the top of the pod and the drip tip exposed. With the way the pod sits so far into the mod it’s not really possible to view the liquid level with the pod inserted.

There are lots of pros on this one so I’ll just take a look at my personal cons on it. They are a little nitpicky but I would prefer the fire button to be a little larger and clicky. Also I would have liked the pod to be clear and possibly a liquid viewing window with the pod inserted in the mod. Other than that I think it’s a really good device. I experienced zero leaking and condensation while testing the Obelisk 65 FC. I would definitely recommend it to those looking for a pod mod with good battery life as well as the capability of charging other devices using the OTG function.

I’d like to thank Geekvape and Allison for sending the Obelisk 65 FC pod mod for this review and thanks as always to the readers. Below is a link to the website if you’d like to take a look at this one or other Geekvape products.

Has anyone tried vaping HHC?

What is HHC?

A cannabinoid that is naturally extracted from Hemp seed and has minimal THC. So as I understand it is legal everywhere.

To skip to the part of whether or not to buy it, just buy it! Relaxing buzz after a few-second delay. Great for pain relief and sleep support. Good head high. Probably one of the best vapes I’ve had and my new favorite cannabinoid. More potent than Delta 8 or Delta 10, one or two hits is enough.

Tolerance builds quickly like with most concentrated cannabinoids, but the effects are pleasant at all tolerance levels. The effects hit in minutes and are definitely distinct from Delta 8 and more potent. There is fuzziness and softness that pulses lightly through the body, and there is mental cloudiness that is more like Delta 9 THC.

This one is a must-try if you are looking for a legal d9 alternative, gonna try it with some other cannabinoids later and probably just enjoy it even more. Kudos to the guys who found out how to do this.

I picked up it from Pleasant Valley Farmacy….

Missing/Stolen package. E-mail support non-responsive.

Let's start this journey:

I ordered on Oct. 23 and waited about 10 days for it to make its first "hop" on Nov 3 where it was sent to the wrong side of the country. It then ended up back around its place of origin to then be sent to the right side of the country which took 6 more days. Then, it took another day for it to get processed out for delivery where it's been at since (9 days to deliver?) and it hasn't shown up at my address yet... That package is either lost/stolen/both/all three.

So, I contacted support two days ago and got a canned response that my ticket was received but nobody followed up with me. I'm trying to get in touch with someone to fix this before I have to file a chargeback. It's almost been a full month and I have nothing to show for it and I'm out $130...

Anyway, my order number is V100647880 and this is what my shipment tracker looks like -

A simpleton for a variety - Innokin MVP Pod kit review

Well, this weekends with an equally simple pod system from Innokin. Frankly, I look forward to their novelty in the next version of the fully adjustable box mod camp, but they obviously decided to postpone it - Innokin MVP Pod kit.
Innokin_MVP_Pod_1.jpg

Parameters
Dimensions: 107.9 x 22.7 x 13.4mm
Case material: zinc alloy + plastic
Power supply: built-in 500mAh
Cartridge capacity: 2.0 / 2.7ml
Evaporator resistance: 0.65Ω
Power: 11 / 12.5W
Operating mode: Power
Supported resistance: 0.4 - 3.5Ω
Protection: from low / high resistance, from overheating, from short circuit, from overcharge / overdischarge
Connector type: magnetic

The Innokin novelty look is original, but very simple-it matches the general concept of the device. The shape is a flat rod, as a panel decoration with variegated "prints". The size is the average-the device cannot be called very small.
Innokin_MVP_Pod_6.jpg

The device is powered by a built-in battery whose capacity is not the most enviable, because the latter is not intended to be charged for a long time. The modern connectors used for these purposes are undoubtedly good news Innokin MVP Pod Kit 500mAh.

Hi, just got my Aegis X Zeus starter kit and glad to be here.

Just wanted to say hello and that I'm glad I found this forum. About a month ago I started buying disposable nic salt devices. Tried vaping about 8 years ago and never really got into it, it was much different this time around, I love it! I really liked the Esco Bars by Pastel Cartel, best flavor from any disposable I've tried.

I decided to ditch the disposables and first got a couple Geekvape Wenax K1's for my girlfriend and I, the Cloud Nurdz nic salt has been our favorite by far. The other brands I've tried are all somewhat harsh (all 50mg nic).

Today I got my Geekvape Aegis X Zeus starter kit with a Nitecore D2 charger and two Samsung 20s 18650's. I filled the tank with Pachamama Fuji apple strawberry nectorine 6% e-juice... It is AMAZING!!! I like it just as much, if not more, than the nic salts. Getting what I feel like great rips with the .4 ohm coil at 50 watts. I also got a 120mL of Berry Blast fruit edition by Finest but I haven't tried that one out yet.

If anyone has any recommendations I would gladly listen! This site seems to have a TON of information so I am very grateful for that. Probably going to get a second set of 18650's here pretty soon. Probably should get another tank so I can have a few different flavors available and I will definitely need some more coils as well. :w00t:

Achieving better throat hits from nic salts? (and questions on hybrid devices and liquids)

I'm an old school vaper who's been using standard sub ohm devices off and on for about a decade. I'm used to having a moderate throat hit from my setups but have heard that nic salts are the new craze because they deliver nicotine faster and more effectively than standard liquids but they lack the same throat hit.

My main question is how do I achieve a similar throat hit from nicotine salts as I would from standard free base liquids? I don't need something super strong, I was never a high PG vaper that needed excessive throat hits but I want something that gets as close to the sensation of a normal cigarette as possible.

I have a few different methods for going about achieving a better throat hit but I'm unfamiliar with the new line of nic salt liquids and compatible vaporizers so I'd need specific suggestions on liquids and devices I can use.

Methods for achieving a better throat hit with nic salts (these are just ideas based on my current level of understanding, other ideas are welcome)....

  • Method 1 (liquids with higher nicotine levels and stronger flavors)
I figure that one of the most obvious workarounds for the low throat hits of nicotine salts would be to buy liquids with higher nicotine levels and strong flavors like menthol or cinnamon. I plan to try this but I'm unfamiliar with websites that offer a range of nicotine salts for a reasonable price. Personally I'd need ides on websites that offer a strong menthol nic salt liquid with customizable nicotine levels.

  • Method 2 (devices that can handle either free base liquid tanks or nic salt tanks/pods)
I'm basically just floating ideas and asking questions on this one. I'm weary of buying a low powered device that can't output enough power to use a sub ohm tank. I'd prefer to have a device that is compatible with both sub ohm tanks AND nic salt pods or tanks. Frankly I don't understand why my Istick Pico couldn't use a nic salt compatible tank IF it's threaded the same. This particular vaporizer goes up to 75W but it's adjustable so why couldn't I just turn it down? It goes all the down to 1W. If this idea will work I'd need to know what wattage range to use the IStick Pico at when using a nic salt compatible tank.

I'd love to be able to do it this way but if it wont work, is there any device that will handle both Sub ohm tanks and nic salt tanks? I'd love to be able to do this as an introductory to nic salts. If nic salts turn out not to be for me, I wouldn't be wasting my money on a device I wont use or alternatively I could swap out tanks on the same device. I may decide to just vape on my normal sub ohm tank with a liquid containing no nicotine to get my throat hit, then switch over to the nicotine salt tank for the nicotine. Sounds like a hassle but I'm trying to quit smoking again so I'm willing to do this if it's an option.

Hopefully this method could also work well with the next one...
  • Method 3 (Hybrid Liquids)
Here I'm talking about liquids that have both a nic salt base and a traditional free base nicotine solution mixed in to achieve a better throat hit. I've heard that some people are buying or making hybrid liquids to get the best of both. A reasonable throat hit and the benefits of having faster nicotine delivery.

This raises question for me though, if it's a hybrid liquid, is it best to use it in a nic salt specific pod device, or a traditional vaporizer set to a reasonably lower wattage? Would a liquid like this work in my Istick Pico, to recap while it does go all the way up to 75w, it's adjustable and will go down to 1W. If I can use my Pico, I'd need to know what wattage and type of tank that'd work best for a hybrid liquid. Could I just use a sub ohm tank and turn the wattage down to under 10W or a similar range with a hybrid liquid?

___________________________

As a side note, I used to be experienced enough with vaping to make my own custom liquids and flavors so I'm at no risk of getting sick by doing something stupid like vaping nicotine salts at high wattage's. I'm doing this post in advance to be updated on new hardware, liquids, and methods for vaping nic salts while getting a moderate throat hit comparable to a balanced freebased nic solution.

I'd love any ideas on good websites to get started and any help is appreciated!

I'm currently looking for a BMM Billy Club or a BMM Rico. I got a Billy Club and started using it as my main squonk device so I'm looking for another one as a backup.

If you have one you don't mind getting rid of, shoot me a PM and let me know your price!

My Dad is a massive fan of DVine Rich Vanilla here in Canada, and it's become more than a little difficult to procure. He's asked me to try and replicate it, and though I'm having some success, I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with this juice. If so, have you been able to successfully replicate it?

E-cigarette maker Puff Bar is facing a probe by North Carolina's attorney general (msn.com)

This part was interesting:

Puff Bar as a company has been mired in controversy. The company voluntarily halted its sales in July 2020 amidst criticism of its prevalent use among young people, and one week later the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) banned Puff Bars from the American market. By February, the company figured out how to end the FDA ban: It began producing bars using synthetic nicotine (what Beltran described as a "forced innovation"), which the agency has no power to regulate.

Most of the article was just annoying:

There are a number of health risks associated with vaping. Many of them involve one's lungs: Vaping uses fluids that have an oily liquid base, and doctors worry that these could get deep into your respiratory tract and provoke an inflammatory response. Vitamin E, for instance, was once a popular agent in the e-liquid found inside e-cigarettes, but it has been found in the lungs of people who have suffered vaping damage. The e-liquids can also contain dangerous substances like formaldehyde, diacetyl and acrolein (which is most often used as a weed killer). While it is unclear if vaping can cause lung cancer (it hasn't been around long enough to know for sure), its ability to get deep into your lung certainly suggests this could be the case. Vaping has also been linked to popcorn lung, lipoid pneumonia and collapsed lung.

When consumed by young people, Puff Bars can also lead to neurological damage. Being exposed to nicotine at such a young age could harm teenage brains as they are developing, as well as alter nerve cell functioning. Nicotine exposure also changes a young person's brain chemistry in ways that make them more likely to become addicted not only to nicotine products, but to other substances.

Smok M17 stick or replacement glass

Looking for an old school Smok M17 stick (vape pen) and/or replacement glass. Normally, I’d just throw it out after I broke BOTH glass tanks, but I stocked up on a bunch of replacement coils. It’s my go to for easy grab and go. Will pay for express shipping if anyone has the vape pen or Pyrex glass replacement
