SUORIN AIR MOD review by hittman

Welcome back for yet another review on a Suorin product. I was sent the Suorin Air Mod pod kit by Suorin for the purpose of providing to you a fair and honest review. If you follow my reviews then you’ll know that not too long ago I reviewed the Suorin Air Pro pod. The Air Mod looks somewhat similar but is different in many ways. It just so happens that I received the same color in both. It has a 1500mah battery along with a screen and airflow control so it is a bit of an upgrade from the Pro. It also has the smart function where it picks up the coil resistance and sets itself to a recommended wattage. To be honest, I had not given much consideration to Suorin products in the past but have enjoyed testing the devices I have been sent for reviews. The Mod is made partially of recycled materials which I found interesting. Before I go too far let’s take a look at what’s included and see how it performs.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

The Air Mod arrived in what has become familiar to me after receiving a few different kits from them which is a white two part box that once the top is removed shows the mod with the pod installed along with two coils, USB-C charging cable and user manual. The two coils included but not pre-installed are .6 ohm rated for 25-30 watts and .8 ohm rated for 15-18 watts. They are push to seat like most coils we see these days. The coils I received had those ratings on them while the picture above shows a little different ranges. I’m not sure why that’s different. I preferred the .6 coil at 23 watts and the .8 ohm coil at 16 watts.

IMG-6064.jpg

IMG-6067.jpg

I thought the pod was an interesting design on this one. Rather than the usual opening in the battery unit that the pod just sits inside of the Mod has what I’m going to call a side pod that slides onto the side of the battery. The coil still makes contact on the bottom but the fill port is on the vertical side of the pod that rests against the battery unit. The plug on the fill port is very soft and easy to move for filling. I was able to fill easily with no mess using a 50ml plastic bottle. There are two magnets on the pod. One on the base above the coil and a second one on the vertical side that is actually in the center of the fill plug but not over the fill port. The pod has a 3ml liquid capacity which I think is decent for a device like this.

The Mod is made of zinc alloy and PCTG materials of which some are recycled materials. On what I’ll call the front side of the Mod is the .96” TFT display. The display shows the following top to bottom.

- Battery indicator

- Set wattage

- Puff counter

- Coil resistance

- Length of current puff

To me the display is very bright, clear to read, and the font is a good size. One other thing that I really appreciated was that the user guide was a bit larger than most and had larger print that was easier to read rather than the normal small print that is more common in user guides and almost requires glasses to read. The menu system on the Mod is very simple but not bad for a pod device. The Mod operation is as follows:

- Press the fire button five times to turn the device on or off

- In the unlocked state, use the + and – buttons to adjust the output

- Press the + and – buttons to lock the wattage adjustment. The mod will still fire

- Press the fire and + buttons and it will ask if you want to clear the puff counter. Press + to reset the counter or – to cancel

Also on the front with the display are the words “Suorin Ace Mod” etched into the zinc alloy. On the opposite side are the words “Designed by Suorin” etched. On the bottom of the unit is the USB-C charging port. Shown as a feature of this device is fast charging but it only charges at 1A and to me it really didn’t charge “fast” but more like what I would call normal.

On the thin side of the PCTG is a sliding airflow control along with the fire button and + and – buttons. The buttons are made from the same transparent plastic as that side of the mod. I received the clear green color for the review and I really wish that the buttons and airflow control were either a different color or chromed so they could easily be seen. Maybe it’s my eyes but with the color I received it’s difficult to see the controls.

On the clear portion of the top is the mouthpiece opening. It doesn’t have a tip but the opening is molded into the pod. I could see some lint or something getting into this if it was consistently pocket carried. Perhaps some sort of cap or plug could be included to keep the opening clean. Also, like the Air Pro, the zinc portion of the mod is really shiny and a fingerprint magnet.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Air Mod is very thin and compact which can make for a very easily pocket carried device. Whether using the device is used in auto fire or button fire it performed well with both coils. I liked the .6 coil at around 22 watts and used the .8 coil at 14 watts. I ended up preferring both to be used on auto mode with this device. The auto worked very well whether the airflow was open or closed and could even close it completely to get a fairly tight MTL draw with the .8 coil.

The battery life seemed very good to me and was able to get over 300 puffs with the .6 coil on a single charge but I may take shorter puffs than some people. The “fast” charge really didn’t seem that fast to me but the charging time was reasonable for a 1500mah battery.

I thought it was really cool that half of the mod is transparent and you can see the electronics. The screen was plenty big and easy to see and read. What I really don’t care for is the shiny fingerprint laden zinc side. This sample was the same color as the Air Pro I received and perhaps it wouldn’t be as noticeable with a different color. Speaking of things being the same color, I felt like the controls should have been a different color than the mod simply so they could be more easily seen.

So, would I recommend the Suorin Air Mod to you? I felt like the performance of the Mod was very good and gave very good flavor and plenty of vapor production. The main problem I had was it was aesthetics. If you want a long lasting device that is easy to fill and very thin to make pocket carrying easy and performs well then yes if the fingerprint thing doesn’t bother you too much.

I’d like to thank Suorin and Mira for sending the Air Mod for this review and thanks to you the readers. Below is a link to their site for your viewing enjoyment.

Do You Disposable? (Best Disposable Vapes Guide)

Geekbar vs Puffbar

As part of our ongoing commitment to making vape e-zine style content, we have taken a look at the best disposable vapes available in the UK right now. While the UK isn't in the EU, it does still follow the electronic cigarette rules on nicotine as the rest of the bloc, which means disposable vapes in the UK are limited to 20mg nic. If you have ever tried a Puff Bar in the US, you may feel a little short-changed :)

For those who haven't, and who are perfectly happy with 20mg nicotine in a throwaway e-cig, this review is for you. Pod kit replacement suggestions

So, I'm currently vaping a 50/50 mix of 50mg saltnic and 3mg freebase in a Tesla Invader GT with a 0.6 Ohm coil at 15W, essentially a 26.5mg liquid that I vape a lot but at this wattage goes really slowly, only 100 ml/month (doing this for about 6 months now). Doing something of an RDL with half of the airflow.

Today my pod system started giving me this weird bad smell from the bottom (where the ventilation holes and the charging port are, basically from here (see attached image). It's like the smell of burnt plastic, or rather burned/shorted circuitry, something like that. It doesn't affect the operation in any way, and doesn't actually alter the taste of the liquid (since the pod is top airflow), but I can still feel it plus it stays on my fingers.

So question 1 is, what the hell might that be? I had some accidental leaking inside the device, and I quite often swim in the pool/sea with the kid with the device sometimes catching some water drops from the bottom. Could the liquid/water damage be the reason for this kind of smell?

Now, it's quite unpleasant so I want to switch to something else. This setup, wattage, coil, coil longevity fit me very much so I'd like to keep as close to it as possible. The pod kit I'm looking at is Geekvape Aegis Boost Pro, it's most certainly an overkill with the 100W max but it has lots of pros including the IP67 rating that should prevent similar problems.

However, the highest impedance coils available for it seem to be 0.4 Ohm rated at 50-60W; there's no chance I'm gonna be vaping any sort of 50mg saltnic mix at that wattage. I don't mind lowering the nic level and increasing the amount of consumed juice a bit, but not too much. Taking into consideration the battery issues, would probably like to stay under 30-35W.

Question 2 then is: what's the lowest wattage I can possibly go below the 'rated' wattage of the coil? Will the mod allow me to do that? Let's say I want to vape that 0.4 Ohm at 20-25W, would that even be possible and if it is, would it be safe for the coil?

Question 3: what are some other suggested alternatives? I'd like a fairly compact pod system with replaceable coils, with 0.6-0.8 Ohm (possibly non-mesh) coils available, 1200mAh or more internal battery or replaceable 18650, at least 3-4ml pod capacity, IP rating would be nice, with coils that are known to last (don't wanna replace them every 3 days), USB-C is desirable. There's also a question of worldwide availability of coils since I'm currently in Thailand but should be travelling back to Ukraine some time next year. Aegis Boost Pro is a good example that fits everything above except for impedance; another thing I was looking at was Uwell Havok.

Thanks in advance!

YOGI Juice & Salt

I tried many juices...didn't like any of them. Maybe i'm picky...yes...probably. Most fruity/sweet juices taste like cough syrup. Miraculously, years ago, my vape shop starting selling Yogi Original Granola. Over the years they've developed some awesome flavors...I switched to Yogi Java quite a while back. 3mg...most excellent flavor. Stay away from anything involving "Salt"--Remember the "Bath Salt" military exp in Florida 2012? I'd advise researching that....I'm sure everyone knows never to buy anything from Royal Farms/7-11/wawa/whatever. NO JUULS. Be safe. Many things are changing.

Looking for retailers still shipping to Australia, nic, diy flavors, and hardware.

Hi, anyone who has recently had shipping to Aus, Im in Qld. I have been finding a lot of suppliers are not shipping to Au or if they are, the shipping is ridiculous.

I did buy hardware from E-juice the other day for just under $11US which is great, but I need Nicotine and some concentrated flavors. Any other places that send hardware to Aus would still be handy.

Thank you :)

(I was going to just write AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE, and see if anyone came back with OY OY OY but I thought better of it ) ...

UPDATE

I have just found out that US cannot ship nicotine to Aus, not much I can do about that one coming late to the game and not having a lot stocked up. I do have some tobacco flavors that I purposely bought high nic so I could water it down. Im not up on all the legislations about all this, but if anyone can help me please. Feel free to message me if you would prefer. Thank you.

[New Product Device] MISO-C

The MISO pod kit and the new MISO-C are like twin siblings, with the same specs and features but with slight differences in appearance.

The well-loved classic MISO pod kit has a pod cartridge with 1.2Ω resistance while the new MISO-C has a pod cartridge with .8Ω and 1.0Ω resistance.

The good news is that those pod cartridges are all compatible with both devices, so users have more options and can now choose the resistance they prefer.

Smok Mag P3 Won't Turn On or Misfires

Hey everyone. I've been vaping for over a decade and this is just annoying as hell. I've had this mod for about six months and it will fire on it's own for 10s which causes it to shut down....OR.....sometimes it just won't even turn on. I've got batteries....a duel charger...I clean it...blah blah...any ideas of how to fix this issue would be welcome!

Finding an equivalent ejuice

Hello! I am new here, but not new to vaping. I probably starting vaping around 8 years ago. The ejuice I used to buy was a simple Cherry flavor from Voda Vapor here in Arizona. It was the the best flavor that I have ever had the pleasure of vaping. I immediately stopped smoking cigs after trying their Cherry. A year or so later Voda Vapor changed the flavor of their Cherry, and it was just terrible. I ended up moving on juices, but have since picked up the cigs again. I have bought a lot of Cherry flavors over the years, and they all have the same funky taste that I hate. Too sweet, and a weird after-taste. What I liked about Voda Vapor's Cherry was that is was a little harsh, and not too sweet. I really loved the taste. Unfortunately, Voda Vapor has since gone out of business. I really want to stop with the cigs again, but can't find a vendor/flavor that I like that will get me over the hump. So my question here is....does anyone know of any similar Cherry flavors like Voda's out there? Or maybe what ingredients Voda used to make their original Cherry flavor? It may sound stupid, but I am feeling a little desperate here.

I know these are not very expensive, but still...its annoying!! Any help would be welcome!

Brand New VOOPOO Drag S Pro Kit Launched

Hey guys. Today let's look at the brand new Drag S Pro Kit by VOOPOO. It is a big upgrade to the original Drag S Kit, so you will definitely like it if you like its predecessor. Here we go!

The Drag S Pro continues the premium texture of metal and leather, using an ergonomic rounded design that perfectly fits the curved curvature of the fingers. Powered by a 3000mAh built-in battery, the mod can fire from 5-80W while supports Smart Mode, RBA Mode, and TC Mode. Thanks to the newly designed GENE.FAN 3.0 chip, the output voltage is increased to 8.5V, which brings more stable flavors even when the battery is about to run out. In terms of use, VOOPOO add a toggle switch to power on/off the device but the fire button can still be used to do the same thing. The addition of a 0.96" TFT screen makes the Drag S Pro pleasing to the eye on every side. At last, the mod has 7 protection to ensure the safety of use.
VOOPOO-Drag-S-Pro-Pod-Mod-Kit.jpg

As for the TPP X Pod, it can store up to 5.5mL of e-liquid, and the filling port is located on the side near the top. The pod is compatible with all TPP coils, but from the kit you only get a 0.15ohm TPP-DM1 Coil and a 0.3ohm TPP-DM4 Coil. Even better, the PnP pods and coils can also be paired with the mod if you are tired of the TPP X Pod or coils. In terms of airflow, the TPP X Pod combines 360° infinite airflow with bottom airflow, bringing more precise airflow control and super cloud. Underneath the pod, there is a highly sensitive air sensor and a new airway layout, which avoids direct contact with e-liquid, providing a more sensitive and smoother vaping experience.

Chest tightness after vaping different juice

I recently found a forgotten half-used bottle of salt nic vape juice (Yogi Salts peanut butter granola bar 35mg). After I started vaping it, I noticed some chest tightness after about 10-20 mins. This occurs even with a single drag (I normally take a 2-3 drags each time). Before this, I was consistently vaping a spearmint flavoured 25mg salt nic juice for the past month. Should I be concerned with this chest tightness at all ? The reason I'm asking is because I never had this issue before, not with this juice, nor other juices with similar flavour profiles or nic levels.
