Help! DIY consistent fail. What am I doing wrong?

TL;DR No matter what I do, my juice tastes "burnt" after 1 day.

I don't like flavors. So a while back I started "trying" to mix my own juice.
I ordered 100mg/ml nic salt juice, PG, and VG from NudeNicotine.

20210523_194546.jpg

I was using a Vaporesso Renova Zero pod system.

I started with
  • 10 ml of the 100mg nic salt base
  • 10 ml VG
  • 10 ml PG
Mixed in this:

20210523_194712.jpg

I shook it up, let the bubbles settle, and then vaped.

All was good for maybe half a day or a day, but soon enough my hits would taste like burnt cotton/burnt coil. And the clear liquid would start to turn brown.

So I tried the non-ceramic "mesh" coils for the Zero. Same result.

Then I tried experimenting with almost every possible recipe from 80:20 to 20:80 PG:VG. Same result.

I tried adding distilled water in various quantities. Same result.

I burnt through dozens of pods in the process.

Exasperated, I bought some pre-made juice from local shop. (Cucumber, as it's the only flavor I can stand. Not sure what ratio; it doesn't say. But feels like 50:50.)

upload_2021-5-23_20-44-54.png

For whatever reason, with this stuff my pods lasted for a few days!

I thought maybe it was my ingredients, so I ordered new ones from PerfectVape:

20210523_194621.jpg

Same result.

Finally, I switched (3 days ago) to an Innokin Sceptre. (Thanks to member of this forum for the recommendation, it's a nice device.)

But Same bloody result!

Tried both 1.2Ω and 0.5Ω coils that came with it. Same result!

WHAT IN GOD'S NAME AM I DOING WRONG??? HELP!!! SOS!!

Thanks for listening.

VOOPOO VINCI X 2 AND VINCI 2 MOD POD REVIEWED BY BIGBOB2322

Hello again and welcome back for today' review of a couple of new devices that are upgrades from the original Voopoo Vinci and Vinci R. There are many upgrades and improvements on the new Vinci devices that the original seems primitive looking back on them now having used the Vinci X 2 and Vinci 2. In the review I'll cover the differences between both devices and look back on the originals to see how far the new models have evolved. I decided to combine both devices into 1 review because there are only a few differences between them. I was really excited to review the original Vinci and its little brother the Vinci R back in Oct and Dec of 2019 and the excitement continued for these new upgraded versions, so lets get things started with some information on both devices.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Opening up both packages the color was what caught my eye first because it's almost like a 3D image on the back of the devices, I am very happy that Voopoo sent me the blue color version on both devices. The exterior uses a matt grey color that somehow reduces slippage in the hand and gives the device's a upscaled look, all corners are nicely rounded making them very comfortable to hold. All of the accessories ( type-c charge cord, 2 coils, and owners manual) are packaged in rectangle box.

20210517_131355.jpg

Starting at the top is the 6.5ml clear pod that is used on both devices with 4 very strong magnets that connect the pod to the devices, I'm normally not a big fan of duckbill type mouthpieces but this mouthpiece tapers down in size and makes it comfortable to use.

Filling the pod is done by lifting the rubber plug that is located on the side of the pod at it's base and when connected sits inside the device unseen.

The fill port is very large and will accept any size bottle top with no problem, because it's large and has a oval shape plenty of air can escape when filling ensuring a mess free fill. A little flap that's part of the plug helps when opening.

20210517_143626.jpg

The bottom of both devices have a piece of rubber surrounding the base that not only protects the device but also the surface of whatever the device is sitting on.

20210517_132827.jpg

Both devices are very similar but have some major differences and one of them is that the Vinci 2 can be draw activated or fired manually with the press of a button or both depending on how you want it to function. The Vinci X 2 can only be fired with a button press and lacks the auto fire feature of the Vinci 2.

In the picture below both devices are laying down showing where the pod is connected and look similar but the Vinci 2 on the left has a small tube that is the auto draw air supply and the Vinci X2 on the right doesn't. You will also notice the 2 metal contacts on both devices are of different size because of the power output, the Vinci X 2 max power is 80w while the Vinci 2 max power is 50w.

20210517_145222.jpg

In this picture the airflow selector lever on top that controls dual airflow can be seen, the selector functions great and gives a smooth airflow at any setting without any whistle or funny sound. The lever controls both airflow slots, whatever happens on one happens on the other side also. I wish that it didn't protrude out so far though.

20210517_145315.jpg

The Vinci X 2 uses a single 18650 battery unlike it's sister, the battery door is located on the bottom of the X 2 and is slid outward to open, the door closes very securely with no movement. Battery polarity is marked with a minus symbol on the inside of the door, there are no markings for positive polarity inside the battery tube.

20210517_135841.jpg

Both devices use a type- c charge port and charge at 2 amp, the charge ports are located in different parts of the devices, The Vinci X 2 is towards the bottom while the Vinci 2 is towards the top below one of the airflow slots.

20210517_134441.jpg

Branding has been kept to a minimum having the Voopoo name and below it Gene on the colorful back of the devices and Vinci is engraved on one side only leaving a clean look.

20210517_132629.jpg

VINCI 2

As I said before both devices have similarities but also very distinct differences that are positives to some and could be negatives to others but that's why Voopoo gave you a couple of choices depending on your vaping style.

The smaller Vinci 2 is a nice device for out and about for a few hours without worry of the device running out of power, If you vape in the lower watts spectrum and prefer a auto draw feature the Vinci 2 will be right in your wheelhouse.

Remember that it's battery capacity is 1500 mAH so that must be taken into consideration. Voopoo says that all PNP coils can be used in the Vinci 2 but that's not correct, all but the VM5 and VM6 coils can be used. The VM5 and VM6 coils require more wattage than the Vinci 2 can output. Using the other PNP coils the Vinci 2 performs great, my own personal opinion on all Voopoo PNP coils is that they are in the top 3 for drop in coils for flavor as well as vapor .

I am traditionally a button preference vaper because very few auto draw devices work well when I review them, I am happy to report that the auto draw feature on the Vinci 2 works very well and in testing never failed to fire or gave out midway through a vape as many others have done.

Weighing only 115g makes the Vinci 2 very portable and being smaller than it big brother but not by much, a difference of 1/2 inch is all that separates the two in height allows it to fit in a jeans pocket just fine, even in the width and depth department they are very close.

I think the Vinci 2 is more for the vaper that doesn't want to purchase batteries and likes there devices simple, heck there really is no menu to either devices other than locking them, changing displays, clearing the puff counter and switching modes from smart mode to RBA mode, the Vinci 2 has modes for the auto draw, button only draw, auto only draw or both activated together.

VINCI X 2

The Vinci X 2 is the big brother of the Vinci 2 because of size, weight, depth and using a single 18650 battery. The Vinci X 2 does not have the option of auto draw like the Vinci 2 does and is only button fired. With the 18650 power source more wattage can be used with the Vinci X 2, max power is 80w while in RBA mode. When in RBA mode both devices switch from yellow to blue color on the display. The choice of IRON or CORE display is also on the Vinci X 2 and are also found in the Drag series of devices.

On the Vinci X 2 you can use every PNP coil that's made, my personal favorite is the supplied VM6 that even though it's mesh you can get a very warm vape.

Other than battery differences, wattage outputs and size they are in fact the same except the Vinci 2 has the auto draw option.

VINCI X 2 ( IRON UI IN RBA MODE ) VINCI 2 ( CORE UI IN SMART MODE )

FINAL IMPRESSION OF BOTH DEVICES

I know that the Vinci X 2 and Vinci 2 are supposed to be upgrades to the original very popular Vinci and Vinci R but with all the changes that have been made on these they really are 2 completely new devices.

The airflow on the originals only had 2 options where now both have fully adjustable dual airflow, the new Gene 2.0 chipset is so much more advanced than the first Gene chipset giving instant fire, 2 UI displays and a auto draw feature on the Vinci 2 that works very well.

Both devices are so easy to navigate that only a few button combinations are all the user needs to remember and using only wattage mode makes it that much simpler to use.

I am so happy that Voopoo decided to stay with the PNP coil line in these 2 new devices because like the old saying goes don't fix what's not broke. I absolutely love the PNP coil line for great flavor and plenty of vapor.

I have been using both devices for a little over 1 week and they have both performed flawlessly, even the past condensation build up problems seemed to have been improved because I have very little and sometimes none when I refill the pods.

Having only received the blue color I can't speak for the other colors but I will tell you that the blue colored one is almost like 3 D with color deepness. I don't know what was used in the surrounding matt finish but it seems to stick to the hand and not want to slip from it.

Voopoo knows from past requests to make their pods clear as these are, viewing juice levels in almost any light condition is easily done.

I loved the originals when they first came out in 2019 and now these new versions with great advancements really make the originals seem primitive.

Both devices have a place that only you can decide which one is best suited for your style of vaping. If you don't want to be bothered with changing batteries and like a auto draw and can get by with 1500 mAH then the Vinci 2 is right for you.

If you like more power than the Vinci 2 can provide and want longer battery life with replaceable 18650's and are a fire button lover then the Vinci X 2 is right for you. Either way you go either Vinci 2's are great devices in my opinion for the time I've used them.

I would like to thank Chloe and Voopoo for providing the Vinci X 2 and Vinci 2 for the purpose of this review and I hope the review helped anyone looking to purchase either of these new Vinci's devices.

BOTH DEVICES ARE WINNERS IN MY BOOK

Bench Test Results: Epoch 15A 3000mAh 18650…double wrapped Samsung 30Q

These tests below only note my personal ESTIMATED ratings for the batteries I tested at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of property damage, personal injury, or even death. They are not supposed to be used outside of a fully protected battery pack and you use them at your own risk. Never exceed the battery’s true continuous current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.

Test Results
This cell appears to be a double-wrapped version of the great performing Samsung 30Q.

The two cells I tested delivered 3112mAh and 3115mAh. This is fantastic consistency, typical of cells from the major manufacturers, and easily meets this cell’s 3000mAh rating.

Its 15A rating is the same as the Samsung 30Q. These cells actually performed a little bit better than most of the 30Q’s I have tested.

The double wrapping makes this cell a little wider, about 18.5mm in diameter, but it provides better protection than the thin wrap on the Samsung 30Q.

Two cells were donated for testing by 18650BatteryStore (18650 Battery Store - Lithium Ion Batteries, Chargers and Accessories). Thank you!

RTA for newbie

Hi guys

I would like to buy an RTA, but I'm new to vaping. I wrote to the newbie section here in the forum, and I got some advice.

I tried Vaporesso Xros - Nicotine 3mg 50VG 50 PG, and it was not strong enough for me. I would like to get a stronger throat hit.

I would like to buy a mod where I can use some tanks with changeable prebuild coils first, and where I can use some RTA tanks after. I prefer a mod where I can set low wattage (from 5-10W). I prefer MTL and don't need big clouds..

I got a tip:
If you want to buy a device that you can use an RTA later without buying extra parts, then Buy an Innokin Kroma-R mod instead then buy an Innokin Zlide tank to go with it (you can find these in a kit together as well. That Zlide tank takes the same coils as the Kroma-Z mod system.

Are there more options?

Thank you a lot for your advice :thumb:

Pod Compatibility

Hello, I’m Jessi and I am new to vaping!! As the title suggests I have an embarrassing question... I am buying a juul and pods for a friend and since I am new to this I have no idea which pods are compatible with the ones I bought.

vaze-pods-mint-absolute-zero-20mg-en.jpg

Are these compatible with
juul-starter-kit-mit-pods-en.jpg

this type of juul? I am on a budget so I cannot buy it and try it out only for it to not work. .. I hope this wasn't too dumb of a question I am trying to get the hang of different juuls and pods. Thank you so much!

Making the switch to RBA need help!

Hey guys I am sure this topic has been kicked to death, but my situation is a bit more dificult. So besides not knowing what is best to make the switch from comercial coils to rebuildables, RDA, RTA or RDTA is the limited options in my country. So in short these are my options.

Wasp Nano RTA, Wasp Nano S RDA, Voopoo Pericles RDA, Requiem RDA, Zeus X(I think it's RTA), Bonza RDA, wismec Inde Duo RDA, Moonshot RTA.
That's about it.

The mods I own are a Smoke Mag grip 100W and a Vaporesso Tarot Baby 85W.
So what ever I buy must be able to work on those two mods.

Thank you community for your much appreciated help.

Regards,

Any reputable canadian 18650 battery vendors?

Hi everyone,
Hope your all having a great weekend! Hopefully someone can help me figure out any good canadian or American reputable vendors for 18650 batteries for my arrow sense mod. Out of all the vendors listed in the battery thread, only one had the batteries I wanted, but it was in the US and would cost over $50 for shipping. Hoping to find shipping for $20-30 canadian instead. I am particularly interested in the batteries on the forums listed as tested by mooch in a stickier post. Or Sony battery with 2500 mah , I like to vape with two 18650 batteries at 60-80 watts.

VOOPOO VINCI 2 AND VINCI X 2 combined review by hittman

Knock, knock. Yes it’s me again back with yet another review for your reading pleasure. I’ve got quite a few on my plate right now so you’ll be seeing more of me soon. Today I’ll be discussing the Voopoo Vinci 2 and the Vinci X 2. I decided to include both in one review since they are very similar in appearance and operation. Both are attractive and have a nice hand feel to them as well as using the same chip as other Voopoo devices that I’ve tested in the past. Let’s take a look at what you get in the kits and see if I can help you decide if you’d like to try one for yourself.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:

I know there were prior versions of both of the Vinci pod mods that I was sent for review but before now had never tried any of the Vinci devices. I have however reviewed and bought other Voopoo devices and liked them very much besides the occasional coil seeping liquid.

When I first opened the Vinci 2 and Vinci X 2 I thought both had a very nice appearance. I received the carbon fiber version of both. Both units have the Vinci name at the top of the display with the battery level indicator. Below that is the set wattage and the mode indicator. There are two modes Smart and RBA. I prefer the RBA mode but the Smart mode can be good for new users to prevent damaging new coils. Below that is the puff counter, coil resistance, voltage of current puff, and time of current puff and finally an arc indicator on the bottom that highlights more dots the longer the you fire the mod so is essentially a visual puff time indicator. There are two types of display to choose from which are Iron and Core. Iron is a vertical display while core is a horizontal display. All of this will seem very familiar to you if you have used other Voopoo devices like the Drag X, Drag X plus, etc. as it uses the Gene chip in both of the new Vinci pod mods.

Vinci 2 menu operation:

- Press the fire button five times to turn the device on and off

- Press the fire button three times to switch between the following ignition modes: (P) Press fire button only/ (Auto) Automatic draw only/ (A&P) Double ignition mode, press fire button or auto fire

- Press fire button and + button to lock the entire device

- Press fire button and – button to clear puff counter

- Press + and – button to choose between Smart and RBA modes as well as Iron and Core themes. Once selected, long press to return to return to main screen.

Vinci X 2 menu operation:

- Press fire button five times to turn device on and off

- Press the fire button and + button to lock the entire device

- Press the fire button and – button to clear puff counter

- Press the + and – button to choose between Smart and RBA modes as well as Iron and Core themes. Once selected, long press to return to the main screen.

- The Vinci X 2 does not offer Auto draw operation.

Facing the display side of the mod with the fire and + and – buttons, on the right side is the sliding airflow control lever that protrudes a bit and is very stiff to move on the units I received. I think it’s a good thing though since it isn’t moved accidentally. Near the bottom vertically is the Vinci name in raised letters. On the left side is the other side of the airflow opening. On the Vinci 2 the USB-C charging port is right beside that. On the Vinci 2 X the charging port is near the bottom of the mod. On the rear side of both units I received there is black carbon fiber with the Voopoo name running vertically and the Gene name horizontal on the bottom. On the very bottom of each mode is the CE rating and “Designed by Voopoo” and “Made in China” with no visible venting holes.

Vinci X 2

The pod for the Vinci 2 and Vinci X 2 are the same and interchangeable which I find very useful. The pods have a duck bill type mouthpiece which I have found very comfortable. The pods are clear which I simply love since it allows me to easily see the liquid level. I wish more manufacturers would follow suit and make their pods clear. Some I’ve tried, I’ve had to actually hold a flashlight up to them to see how much liquid is in them. There are four magnets on the bottom of the pods that hold them securely in place and I had no issue with them coming out accidentally.

The 6.5ml pods use the PNP series of coils that are used in many other devices made by Voopoo. The Vinci 2 included the .3 coil which is rated for 32-40 watts and also the .8 coil which is rated for 12-18 watts. I found both coils to have good flavor and vapor production. The .8 coil had considerably less airflow available and the auto draw function seemed to only work well with the airflow control about 80% closed. Since the Vinci 2 is only 50 watts maximum it is not compatible with all PNP coils.

The Vinci X 2 included the .3 coil rated for 32-40 watts but also included the .15 coil which is rated for 60-80 watts. The Vinci X 2 is compatible with all PNP coils. I ran the .15 coil for about 125 puffs before removing the pod to check it and found that the coil was seeping liquid from the center of the coil. After closer observation, I saw that the center pin of the coil was off centered and most likely why it was leaking. I’ll chalk that up to just getting a bad coil since I then installed the .3 coil and had no leaking with it. The pods are side fill with a rubber plug that sticks up just a little on one end that makes it easy to get a hold on to open it for filling. The fill hole is plenty big in my opinion and was easily able to fill with a 50ml bottle with no mess.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I really ended up liking the Voopoo Vinci 2 and Vinci X 2. I thought both were very comfortable to hold and use. Having used other devices from Voopoo, the display and operation were very familiar. I like that Voopoo decided to go ahead and stay with the PNP coils for these units. It makes it easier in my opinion for users to add new devices to their arsenals without having to start over deciding and stocking up on new coils.

I was able to get about 200 puffs on the Vinci 2 with the 1500mah battery while running the .3 coil at 33 watts. I felt like that was fairly decent battery life. The Vinci X 2 uses an external 18650 battery so depending on which coil and battery used the results will vary. One thing I had almost forgotten about with the Gene chip is that it takes one click of the fire button to activate the device before you can fire and take a puff which I assume is a safety feature so the devices don’t get fired by accident. It kind of reminds me of how you can set the number of button presses needed before a dna color device is ready to fire.

So would I recommend the Voopoo Vinci 2 and Vinci X 2? I tend to lean towards units with replaceable batteries but I really enjoyed using both of these devices. So, yes I would recommend them and whether you prefer built in or external battery devices, there’s a Vinci for you. The Vinci 2 is maximum 50 watts with the built in battery while the Vinci X 2 is maximum 80 watts.

Thanks goes out to Chloe and Voopoo for sending the new Voopoo Vinci 2 and Vinci X 2. Also, as always, thank you to the readers for spending time listening to my thoughts. Below are links to the two Vinci pod mods if you’d like to look for yourself.
