Hello again everyone and welcome back for today's review of the Coolfire Z80 kit that was sent to me for the purpose of this review. The Z80 Kit has been a long awaited item from Innokin that so many people including myself have been waiting for. The Z80 device has 3 power modes to choose from that include ( FO ) Fourier Tech just as the Sensis employs, wattage, and voltage as well as the coil saving refresh function but the Z80 uses a replaceable single 18650 battery to power the device. Included with the Z80 is the new Zenith II tank that can work with every Z-Coil. Without giving to much away right now lets get to know the Coolfire Z80 and Zenith II tank before the review.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
When I opened the box containing the Z80 device and Zenith II tank I was impressed with the material used on the spine of the Z80, it really looks and feels like genuine Alcantara with some spongey feeling to it. Both tank and device are cast in a matt grey that leave no fingerprints and match one another very well. The knurling on the tanks top cap adds a bold look that carries down and matches with the bottom of the tank.
After looking the Z80 over I came to a realization that as much as I dislike branding on devices and atomizers because I feel it takes away from their appearance, the branding on the Zenith II tank and Z80 device actually enhance the appearance of both of them. The branding is actually engraved on both very boldly, one side of the tank Zenith II is engraved and the other Innokin is engraved while the Z80 has Coolfire Z80 on one side and Innokin on the other. Both the tank and mod match up very nicely, I'm not a big fan of the material Ultem that is used in tank or drip tip applications but in this case the Ultem drip tip pairs well with the tank and mod combination.
As I always do with any new atomizer I disassembled the Zenith II fully preparing it for a soak in soapy warm water. When doing so pay special attention to the 2 O rings at both ends of the glass tube, I would put them aside because they can be easily lost down a drain.
The metal cage that surrounds the glass tube really protects the glass, a second protection of falls comes with the knurled top cap that protrudes a small amount so if a fall did happen the top cap would make contact before the glass. The bottom base cap that has the airflow selector slot also has knurling that protrudes out a small amount.
A great feature of the Zenith II is any Zenith coil is compatible, so if you have a favorite Zenith coil other than the 2 that are provided they will work also.
Installing the coil is a simple push in, line up the 2 flat sides and just push the coil into the tank, I like to prime the coil with a couple drops of juice first. after filling the tank let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes to fully saturate the coil.
This 5.5ml tank uses top fill and it's one of the simplest ones to use. On the top cap a lock symbol is located on the left with a unlock symbol located on the right, to fill turn the top cap counterclockwise toward the unlock symbol that when opened reveals a membrane that acts like a one way valve, I wish this fill method was used on all tanks.
Pushing your juice bottle tip into the membrane opens it up for a mess free fill then seals itself back in place when the bottle tip is removed. When finished filling turn the top cap clockwise to the lock symbol, it doesn't get any easier than that. If your juice bottles are the 100ml ones you might have to remove the drip tip prior to filling to ensure the bottle tip fully penetrates the fill port membrane. I'm also happy to see that the drip tip is a narrow bore straight drip tip and not the old styled curved type of MTL drip tip.
The Z80 uses a replaceable 18650 battery the is installed using a twist off battery cap located on the bottom of the device, lift up the tab and unscrew to install the battery. There are 4 holes in the battery cap for venting. Threading is very smooth with no crunchiness at all.
Battery polarity is clearly marked with a red plus symbol indicating positive position of the battery inside the tube, the battery cap however does not have any negative markings or symbols.
The spine of the Z80 is covered with either leather or like the one that I have, a material that really looks and feels like Alcantara with the Fourier logo stamped in. 2 rows of stitching run vertical from top to bottom on each side of the Fourier logo. This material is very strong and durable and it also cleans up easily with water using a damp cloth.
The gunmetal matt finish of both the tank and device really give the combo a bold robust and well built look and feel, as I mentioned earlier the branding on the tank and device actually add to their majestic appearance. The fire button is raised just enough to feel and is surrounded with a gold bezel further enhancing the elegant look.
I prefer to thumb fire my devices and the ergonomics of the device let it cradle in the hand and your thumb just naturally lines up with the fire button, if you prefer a finger method that same ergonomic feel is there except the display screen will be covered.
Going back to the Zenith II I have to mention how well the airflow works and the options that you have with it. I've said it before and I'll say it again many manufacturers claim to be able to be able to get a MTL and RDL vape from their tanks but very few are actually able to accomplish, but the Zenith II does it very well.
On the tank there is a series of 3 individual holes that vary in size along with a slot for DL or RDL. Adjustments can be made to use in MTL by using either the largest hole, the largest hole and another smaller hole together, or all three holes opened together.
You can also use all three holes and a good potion of the slotted airflow opening together. the airflow control ring has just the right amount of resistance and stays in place when set.
This is a true MTL tank as well as a very good RDL or even DL, I include DL even though the Zenith II is not billed as a DL but if I can breath through it fully opened up which I can I label it capable of DL also. Pictured below, all 3 individual MTL holes are opened up.
The Z80 device is such a easy device to navigate through using it's easy menu system using only a couple of button combinations that I will list below.
* Turning the device on/off - 3 presses of the fire button
* Locking/Unlocking wattage - Hold the fire and down button simultaneously
* Clearing the puff counter - Hold the fire and up button simultaneously
* Getting into the menu - Hold both the up and down button simultaneously
Once in the menu scroll down/up to the desired function yo want to adjust or use
* To change wattage/Voltage hold the plus/minus button down for 1.5 seconds, the wattage will begin to blink, only when blinking can you adjust wattage/Voltage.
The display screen is bright and vivid and lets you choose to use it in it's full information mode that Innokin calls pro or the other mode they call minimal. In it's pro mode all information is displayed. Information is as follows left to right and top to bottom.

REFRESH SETTING
The Z80 uses 2 settings to help prolong the life of the coil, how it works is done by gently heating the coil by 40% and then vibrating to shake any gunk build up from juice that forms on the coil wire.
* Setting 1 - In setting 1 the coil is cleaned for about 5 seconds by pressing the fire button while your in this setting.
* Setting 2 - Called Extended because the cleaning process is longer, in the extended mode you have to hold the fire button down until the wheel that's shown on the display screen gets a full cycle.
FOURIER TECH ( FO )
Trying to explain ( FO ) is a bit difficult but I'll do my best. What all of us are used to in wattage/voltage mode is ( DC ) which is a straight signal, in the ( FO ) mode the device is using a A/C signal ( ALTERNATING CURRENT ) with different waveforms called HZ.
Using the different HZ will change the flavor on juices to bring out different notes with different settings, because all juices are different not one setting works for all juices.
A lot of adjusting of HZ is needed when changing flavors, I call it a tinkerer's dream.
What I have found is in ( FO ) mode the flavor kind of mellows out to a softer one. I am a heavy vaper and at the end of some days even my favorite juice flavor seems a bit harsh and irritating and that's when I like to use the ( FO ) mode.
FINAL IMPRESSIONS
I'm sure that all of you can tell that I really like the whole kit. Going over the tanks strong points, attractive bold appearance , very good flavor using both of the supplied coils. The 0.8Ω coil has just the right amount of warmth and throat hit with airflow that is a true MTL airflow that can be opened to the largest MTL setting and even use some of the slots airflow mixed in. It should make every style of MTL vapers happy.
The 0.3Ω mesh coil is a great flavor coil and using it as I do in RDL with the airflow closed down 1/4 gives me a great vape of flavor and clouds. The provided drip tip works fine so I kept it on during the testing.
I'm so glad the Z80 uses a replaceable single 18650 battery because as good as built in's are they will die at some time, but the Z80 will power on.
As good as the whole kit functions the appearance is the real star, perfectly paired tank and mod in color as well as style form makes it a real eye catcher. The little things like the spirals in the fire button as well as the gold bezel that surround it make it stand out in a crowd.
Having a simple and easy to navigate menu system also adds to all the positives in this device.
The Z80 has the FO feature as does the Sensis that I reviewed as well and for someone that has a lot of time to play with the settings the FO power mode should be fun discovering new frequencies.
All in all I really love this whole kit and 100% recommend it.
