A Good Battery Charger for 18650, 21700, 20700

I need a new charger
the one that I have works well but does not fit the 20700 and the 21700 barely fit
it takes 6+ hours to charge 2x 3000mah batteries

the other one I have is a pos
LitoKala Lii-402
while I can put almost any battery in it...it takes dayssssssssss to charge them
supposedly you can change the charging mode from 500ma, 700ma, 1000ma, and 2000ma...but every time I try to change it, it just reverts back to 500ma

and then I have something called MXJO smart usb li-ion battery charger
it was a gift from a contest
but it's janky and poorly crafted, only works half of the time....really should just be thrown away...not sure if it's the charger or if the one I got was defective but it feels and looks cheaply made....

I would like a 4 bay charger but 2 bay would be ok
something that can handle all battery types (or at least most....aa, aaa, 18650, 21700, 20700, ect)
and something that will actually charge the batteries and not still be at 50% after 3 - 4 days of charging :nah: and well nothing too expensive although at this point I'm thinking I may need to splurge a bit to get a decent charger

thank you for any suggestions

For Sale Juul's with pods

Two Juul's with two packs of pods

I'm very careful with my vape gear, never dropped or abused. Both look and work excellent - in original boxes, each with it's own charger and packed as they were when new. They are both two years old, I used them daily for a year, then they went to backup device status. I'm refreshing to new ones again and won't need these for backup devices any longer. I had registered them with Juul and the warranty is past the expiration, so you won't be able to register them with Juul. Please note - these never gave me any problems, I just like the idea of refreshing to new once a year.

I'll also include two new, sealed packs of Virginia Tobacco 3% pods.
I bought these about six months ago, but decided to stick with the 5%

I am a 45+ year smoker that also vaped for a number of years. I was never able to completely drop cigarettes with the other vape devices. I know Juul gets a lot of bad press, but it does work. I was able to immediately quit once I found Juul and I'm at almost two and half years now cigarette free - huge for me, my addiction ran deep.

$25 shipped USPS First Class.
Paypal (no mention of ecigs, Juul or ECF please).
Call it a tool when you trigger the payment and I'll do the shipping label right from paypal.
Thanks!

Glass

I want to see if anyone knows of a really good reusable glass syringe and where I can get them because all the glass syringes I'm finding on Amazon seem to be really cheap and either they break really easily or the rubber comes off the plunger after a quick alcohol soak/clean. Plus I've look at a couple glass sites and had no idea how to order from them cause there was no prices anywhere

NET E-Liquid vs Dry Herb Vaporizer

I am curious to hear anyones thoughts who have tried vaping NET vs vaping tobacco in a dry herb vaporizer.

I am interested in trying tobacco in a dry herb vaporizer, but the good ones seem very expensive. Not something to try on a whim. Wish there was a way just to try one, but I don't know anyone who has one sadly.

Quitting vaping... advice please

Hey guys ands gals, I’ve been vaping an awfully long time and now come to the conclusion it’s time to quit... I am in the U.K. , so I’ve not really got any idea of where I can get rid of most of my hardware.... lots in the collection.... I’m definitely not just dumping the lot of it, as it cost me quite a bit in the first instance.... obvs I will not be getting rid of any batteries etc as I can still use those in torches etc... I have managed to wean myself off nic salts (due to bad reaction) , and back onto less than 3 mg nic at the moment... I plan on making some 0 nic liquid to aid my quitting.... if anyone has any helpful advice- please post.... thanks!

Why Are All Mods Made Like Crap?

Wismec 3 Battery? No good. Breaks within a year without dropping. Replicated on two mods.

Wismec 2/3 mod? Yet again, poor manufacturing. Wires not soldered properly. Almost lasted a year.

Squid Industries Double-Barrel? Craps out after 1 month without any damage. Wont turn on.

GeekVape Aegis Legend? 2 months and not reading the batteries right. Never so much as tipped over on my desk.

SMOK? Had more than I can count or bother to recall the exact models, but every one busted within a year.

None of them seem true to their warranties either. They make it as tedious a process as possible. I haven't tried with the Aegis Legend yet, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's probably more of the same.

At this point, I am convinced that I have spent more money on mods than I have on juice. These mods are all made like crap. I don't want to spend $80 every few months to get a new mod. I just want to vape for gods sake.

Has anyone had a mod that has lasted them over a year? What kind was it? I've asked this before and that's what led me to the Double-Barrel and the Aegis Legend. Both have failed on me even sooner than my previous attempts.

Mouth pieces for 510

I recently purchased an Innokin Zenith D22 and the one thing I don't care for is the short mouth pieces that came with it. I'm used to the ones that come with the Protanks. I do appreciate the snug fit though. I'm told that these are pretty much universal but with probably hundreds of vendors selling them I hate to buy some and end up with some that fit too loosely. HAs anyone here bought replacement ones that you'd recommend and if so, what vendor? Thanks in advance.

Hellvape Trishul V2 Mech Mod 18650-20700-21700

Hellvape Trishul V2 Mech Mod

This Mod is not regulated so I recommend its use exclusively to expert users, demanding cloud hunters but above all profound connoisseurs of the laws of OHM.

Hellvape's Trishul is a mechanical tube constructed of high quality naval brass, the activation button uses a silver-plated stabilizing spring mechanism and two magnets made of Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) and the ARC contact is of Copper .

This tube with internal insulation sleeve can use a single 18650, 20700 or 21700 battery.

The Trishul has a nice, no-frills appearance with a fine trident incision and beautiful aesthetic workings all along its body.

Enjoy the reading

The package with which this mechanical tube arrives presents at the front; the HellVape logo, the Device and the wording "Trishul V2 Mech Mod".

1.jpg

On the back we find the identification of the product, some characteristics, the packing list, place of origin, logos & brands.

2.jpg

On the side, an exploded view of the activation button designed by HellVape is shown, on the other side we find a product identification number (1905) and a drawing of the Trishul tube.

3.jpg

On one of the two narrow sides of the package we find the writing "Evoke your vaping genius", on the other side there is an adhesive / demo label to indicate that this is a version reserved for reviews.

Hellvape Dead Rabbit V2 RTA Review

Hellvape Dead Rabbit V2 RTA
Introduction

There was a lot of controversy surrounding the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA when it was released. I’m not going to bother with any of that. As far as I’m concerned it’s an RTA and I’ll be reviewing it for what it is.

Let’s take a look at the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA.

  • Dead Rabbit V2 RTA
  • 5ml Bubble Glass
  • 2ml Straight Glass
  • Spare o-rings, screws and fill port gasket
  • Screwdriver & Allen Key
  • Sticker
Specifications
  • 25mm diameter RTA
  • 5ml capacity with included bubble glass installed
  • 2ml capacity with included straight glass installed
  • Sliding top fill
  • Dual Post Build Deck
  • Dual Slotted Top Airflow Control Ring
  • 810 drip tip

Photo Album

Disclaimer: The Dead Rabbit RTA V2 was sent to me by HealthCabin for review.

Design & Build Quality
The Dead Rabbit V2 RTA is constructed from 304 stainless steel. The tank I received was the Matt Black version. It is also available in Stainless Steel, Gunmetal, Rainbow, Matte Full Black (logo and name on chimney are blacked out), Matte Stainless Steel, Blue and Gold.

Starting at the top, you have an 810 drip tip which has a nice wide bore.

The fill cap is a slide open style, with a little white arrow indicating where to push. You can also unscrew the top cap from the sliding mechanism which allows you to dismantle for cleaning and to also gain access to the fill port gasket to replace if needed.

The fill port is a single kidney shaped hole, which isn’t the biggest I’ve seen, but doesn’t cause problems with most sizes of nozzles. Really big nozzles won’t fit, I had to ‘pour’ the juice in from my nozzle on a 500ml bottle, but managed it without any spillages.

The top airflow control ring has a celtic knot knurling design all the way around, which was also seen on the Dead Rabbit V2 RDA. It offers enough grip to adjust the AFC ring and also provides a nice design to the tank.

You have the option of using the included straight glass, which gives a 2ml liquid capacity, or the pre-installed 5ml bubble glass. I always opt for the bubble glass when provided as I prefer the extra juice capacity.

Through the glass you can see the chimney / chamber, which has the Dead Rabbit logo on one side and ‘Dead Rabbit V2’ on the other side.

The base has the same celtic knot design running all the way around it, again offering grip when unscrewing the base.

The bottom of the tank has a protruding 510 connection pin. It also has a plastic thermal insulation plate which is supposed to protect your mod from any heat transfer. It has a frosted finish to the insulation plate so you can see through to the recessed base of the tank, where it has the usual regulation marks, Hellvape logo and the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA name. The insulation plate can be unscrewed for cleaning of the tank if required.

Overall, the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA is quite a subtle looking tank, especially in the Matt Black option I received. The build quality is spot on, with all threads being smooth. The sliding top cap is quite restrictive also, so while it could slide open in a pocket, the tightness of the sliding mechanism should prevent this from happening.

Airflow
The top airflow of the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA starts with the dual cyclops slots on the AFC ring. These are angled downwards, so as air is pulled into the chamber it is directed at the top / side of your coils on a diagonal. As the air enters the chamber, there is an internal honeycomb airflow chamber which the air passes through, before hitting your coils.

The honeycomb airflow chamber is supposed to smooth out the airflow, but I haven’t tried the original Dead Rabbit RTA to be able to compare the two.

The inner airflow chamber has notches on either side which ensure it locks to the base and keeps the honeycomb airflow directed at your coils.

Obviously, being top airflow you have the added benefit of minimising leaking from the tank. However, some people don’t like top airflow, preferring airflow from the side or the bottom.

Building on the Dead Rabbit RTA V2
The build deck on the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA is very similar to the Dead Rabbit V2 RDA. If you’ve used the RDA, you will be right at home on the RTA.

If you haven’t used the RDA, the build deck is basically four posts which are configured like two Y shapes. This allows you to install your coils like you would on a postless deck. The idea is supposed to be that you can pop your coils into the post holes and trim the leads afterwards, however I found the space is quite tight with my trimming tool, so I just trim the leads beforehand anyway.

Regardless of whether you opt to trim your leads first or try cutting them after installing, it’s still an easy deck to build with.

When it comes to wicking your coils, as with the Dead Rabbit V2 RDA, you will need a longer wick tail than you may be used to. This is due to the height of the deck above the wicking ports. I found cutting the cotton at the threads of the build deck was fine.

On each side of the deck are two little walls around the wicking ports. I tucked my cotton behind these and left it sitting on top of the juice ports. I tend to wick RTA’s this way, not wanting to stuff cotton down into juice ports and restrict the flow of juice.

Performance
I first tried a build of just two simple spaced round wire coils. I wanted to try the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA on mech mod I had just bought, so the build was 5 wraps of 26 gauge kanthal coming out at about 0.37ohm. Flavour was really good, nothing to complain about at all. I had the airflow fully open and found it to provide an airy vape but not too airy that the flavour was diminished. I suppose the airflow is a little loud, but it’s not turbulent or whistly.

I then tried a single parallel coil, same specs and wraps so came out the same at about 0.37. Flavour was OK on this build but I suspect the single coil was too far away from the internal honeycomb slots to provide the full flavour I had gotten from the dual coil setup. I guess a fancier, larger coil would be more suited for a single coil setup to catch the air as it comes into the internal chamber.

I’ll just stick with a dual coil build next time.

Leaking was not an issue, but being top airflow it is what you would expect.

I didn’t have any issues when filling the tank, even when using a really chunky nozzle, but I did have to pour it into the fill port. Any standard sized nozzles just fit straight in.

I do prefer a screw on top cap as opposed to a sliding one, but the ability to unscrew the cap for cleaning is nice. I think it would have been better if it was reverse threaded though.

Verdict
Overall, I really enjoy using the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA. I found the flavour to be really good, even from a simple round wire build. I prefer to wick RTA’s using the dam method, where the cotton just sits on the juice ports, as opposed to poking it through the ports. For me it works better and the little walls around the juice ports really help your cotton to stay in place.

The honeycomb airflow is an upgrade from the original Dead Rabbit RTA, but I didn’t try the original so cannot compare them. As to whether the honeycomb inner chamber warrants a V2 upgrade, that is for you to decide.

Overall, the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA performs very well and I’m certainly happy to keep using it when I don’t want to drip into an RDA. It may not be ground breaking, but it certainly does what it set out to do.

Pros
  • Great flavour
  • Nice airflow
  • Can unscrew the top cap and dismantle the sliding mechanism for cleaning
  • Nice subtle design
Cons
  • I prefer a screw top cap as opposed to a sliding one
  • Reverse threaded top cap would prevent unwanted unscrewing of the top cap when unscrewing the base to access build deck

Thank you for reading and thank you to HealthCabin for sending me the Dead Rabbit V2 RTA for review.

They have them listed for £25.28 / $31.49 on their website, but if you create an account or log in they are listed for £16.75 /$20.87

Spider web cotton

Ok the title was weird to draw attention :p

Have u guys ever open your rta and see the cotton changed it's shape??? Its not it was caught on the bell threads while I tighten it cause the way it was disformed (if there is such a word) don't show it was that the case....just was fluffier and a part of it was pulled close to the air holes under the coil....I noticed something was off when I was puffing and opened and saw that....I just fixed the shape of cotton with a screwdriver and keep vaping it but was curious if anyone have seen their cotton change shape....like a cotton candy :p

Best type of juice in a MTL RTA

I got a great number of responses on my last post, with tons of useful information, so here’s another question I have for you all. What is the best type of juice for flavor in a MTL RTA?

I’ve found that lower mg salt nic usually tastes better than its higher mg counterpart - I.E. a 30mg and a 50mg bottle of the same juice will taste better in the 30mg option.

I’ve read about people smoking 0, 3, and 6mg freebase in pod systems, so I bought some myself to try it out in my MTL RTA (the lady at the vape shop said 3mg would have a lot more flavor than Nic salts).

I’m not sure if I somehow got a bad batch of juice (I have 4 different flavors/ 2 different brands so idk the likelihood of that) or what, but it doesn't have a prominent taste.

Ive tried from .6 to 1.2ohm coils with 28ga stainless steel single round, as well as some 1ohm mtl fused claptons. Is it possible to make the juice work with my current set up or do I need to buy different gauge wire and up my watts? I’m not interested in heavy cloud production, just flavor.

Geekvape AEGIS Boost Plus

Geekvape AEGIS Boost Plus
I’ve been looking for a new mod and my friend Sue was kind enough to send me Geekvape’s AEGIS Boost Plus recently and since then, I’ve been using it regularly. If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s the follow up to the AEGIS Boost. It’s the latest in the Aegis series. The kit itself includes a pod with 0.4ohm KA1 Mesh Coil installed. It also includes a spare 0.6ohm KA1 Mesh Coil, USB cord and easy to understand instructions which all come in a very nice box.

Aegis-Boost-Plus-Kit-7.jpg

The most notable improvement from the Boost to the Boost Plus is that the Boost Plus takes a standard 18650 battery. It still features a built in USB recharging port but if you are out and about and run low on power, you can simply swap in a new battery until you get back to power. In addition, the pod is almost 2ml larger, so you can take 5.5ml with you on the go – sweet!

What didn’t change is that the AEGIS Boost Plus (ABP) still maintains Military Grape IP67 Shockproof, Dustproof and Waterproof rating. The body itself has a zinc alloy frame and is rubber coated so it’s stain, corrosion, and tear-resistant. Around the back is a real leather cover where your fingers meet. It’s a nice touch of elegance. Some may view the fact that it’s a little less rounded than the previous version as a downside because it’s slightly less comfortable for some to hold but that is nitpicking of the highest order. The gains in capacity and battery interchangeability more than make up for it. The ABP still runs from 5W to 40W and steps up in .5W increments. It also maintains a temperature control mode. Another carry over is the air flow control which is simply one of the nicest I have encountered. It’s super easy to adjust from restricted to wide open and it doesn’t shift around easily. Basically set it and forget it.
Filling the pod is super easy – just lift the rubber cap (which stays attached so you can’t lose it), put your juice nozzle in and squeeze. Then pop the cap back in place. Fire it up and vape to your settings which are adjusted via the screen. Power on is done with 5 simple clicks of the fire button which brings to life an easy to read screen. It shows you battery power level, Watt setting or Temp setting, all of which are adjusted with two simple - or + buttons. You can easily lock the unit with your settings so they aren’t accidently changed. I mentioned it comes with the drip tips but if you prefer your own, it will take any 510 drip tip. The ABP is suitable for MTL and DTL vaping. The micromesh coils mean you will get a rich, intense vape, I can’t speak to their longevity other than I’ve been using the same coil for two weeks and experienced no loss in flavor.

Whether you are new to vaping or an experienced cloud maker, the Geekvape Aegis Boost Plus is an excellent choice. It ticks all the boxes most are looking for: Solidly built, dependable, small yet with good capacity and delivers a quality vaping experience.

It is really nice to see that Vaporesso made this type of mod, shockproof, dustproof and waterproof, sub ohm tank looks well protected also which is interesting. Other thing that I like is that you can buy this mod with RDA, I really think that this kit is going to be interesting, I would like to try both with this mod, sub ohm tank and rda.

Advken Potento Pod System Kit - Review

Hi ECF members, In this review i take a look at the Potento Pod System Kit from Advken. The Advken Potento Pod System Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by the Healthcabin.

https://www.healthcabin.net/advken-poten...23741.html

Introduction

Advken isn't a manufacturer i have used more than a couple of products from so not that familiar with them but just by what i have read and heard they have produced a couple of very good products but also some which received a mixed reception.

The Potento Pod system brings us new meets old in the way of variable voltage via a potentiometer dial (who doesn't like a potentiometer dial from time to time). The dial gives variable voltage from 3.2 to 4.2v to get the power and warmth you prefer in conjunction with the 1.2ohm Pod. The lightweight Pod device utilises either 2.5ml or TPD compliant 2.0ml pods both of which house a 1.2ohm coil for a MTL vape. The device is draw activated but does have a on/off button which can also be used to check battery status. Coming in 4 colour options let's give the Potento Pod System a look!

___________________________________________________________________

In The Box

Contents:

1pc Potento Device
1pc Type-C Cable
2pc Potento Pods
Paperwork

___________________________________________________________________

Aesthetics and Ergonomics

The Potento comes in cardboard packaging with a picture of the device in the colour of choice on the front. I received the Silver Blue version which starts Dark Blue at it's base and gradually fuses into a Silver that dominates the top of the device. The colour options are Obsidian Black, Silver Blue, Ruby Red or Slate Grey, on both the front and back of the device on the upper area we have an indented dimpled effect which is the main aesthetic feature.

Towards the top on both sides we have a small hole for airflow and towards the bottom one side we have printed safety stamps and a Type C USB port, on the opposite side we have a on/off button and LED. Moving to the base and central we have a potentiometer dial with a protruding leg either side to allow the device to stand up. Most of the dark tinted pod protrudes from the device allowing visibility of your e-liquid level in good light but too dark to be fully practical.

The form factor isn't a million miles different to the Caliburn just larger but the Potento actually feels lighter and is nice and comfortable in the hand!

Potento Specs and Features:

Size: 121.2* 22.8* 12mm
Battery: 560mah built-in battery
Coil Material: Mesh Coil
Charging port: Type-C
Coil Resistance: 1.2ohm
Output voltage: 3.2V-4.2V
Cartridge Material: PCTG
Device Material: ALUMINIUM ALLOY/PCTG
Capacity: 2.5ml/2ml (TPD)
Voltage adjustment by rotating the bottom potentiometer control knob
Side filling design
Colours: Obsidian Black, Silver Blue, Ruby Red, Slate Grey

___________________________________________________________________

The Pod

The Pod is both one complete moulding and a sealed unit so the whole pod needs replacing rather than just the coil. The Pod has a capacity of 2.5ml with the standard pods but also TPD compliant 2ml pods i have had no trouble finding online. You receive two pods both of which houses a 1.2ohm coil and as far as i can find no other options are available.

The Pod is very darkly tinted so not as practical as it should be but in decent light i could see the juice level without much difficulty. It smoothly tapers both front and back to form a very comfortable mouthpiece which has a bore suited much more to a MTL vape rather than any form of DL.

On the rear of the pod we have a silicone flap with bung which will need pulling outwards to fill. Moving to the base of the pod we have the two Gold plated contacts and central opening which will lead to the membrane switch when fitted to the device.

___________________________________________________________________

Filling The Pod

As mentioned on the rear of the pod we have a silicone flap which is easy to get hold of to pull the bung out of the fill port. The bung sits quite deep for a good seal and the silicone piece is soft and pliable allowing for easy access. The fill port is a good size allowing air to escape while filling and despite the pod being darkly tinted i had no issues seeing the level as i filled, i had no issues at all!

Fitting The Pod

Looking inside the pod bay we can see the sturdy Gold plated, spring loaded contacts and opening to the membrane switch. The pod just gets press fitted into place but a click can clearly be heard as it secures. When checking for it their is slight movement but it takes a bit of effort so during vaping no movement whatsoever is detected!

___________________________________________________________________

Operating The Potento

The Potento is a draw activated Pod System but does have an On/Off button that can also be used to check the limited battery status indication. To turn the device On/Off is five quick presses of the button, off is confirmed by 3 white flashes of the LED while switching the device on is confirmed by one flash.

On the base we have a potentiometer dial which is numbered 1 to 4 in Roman Numerals but also you can have it set between Numerals. It adjust from 3.2v up to 4.2v although you go by feel as there is no way of knowing exactly what voltage you have set unless at it's lowest or highest points!

So just keep turning the dial and take a draw until you get the warmth and power you are after then happy vaping! When taking a vape the LED lights up to show the battery status, this can also be checked by pressing the On/Off button although it is very limited lighting White from 30% to 100% and Red below 30%, when the battery needs charging the draw activation stops working and the LED flashes Red 5 times. The LED is also used for protection alerts flashing various amounts of times when a safety protection kicks in!

___________________________________________________________________

Protections:

Short Circuit Protection
Over-charge Protection
Over-heat Protection
Over-Time (10s) Protection
Low Voltage Protection

___________________________________________________________________

Charging

Really happy the Potento has Type C USB and supports a 1A charge rate which meant the 580mAh battery was charged in just under 45 minutes while supporting pass-through. While charging the LED slow pulses White and then stays lit once fully charged.

___________________________________________________________________

How It Vapes? And Thoughts!

First off the Potento is marketed as being both MTL and DL and i think what they are getting at is the airflow is in that loose MTL grey area which also allows for a RDL vape if you prefer but my experience was this gives just a slightly tighter draw than the Caliburn and is more a medium loose MTL as it didn't give me a satisfactory RDL draw. I actually like the draw it gives and the flavour from the 1.2ohm pods while not being quite on par with the Caliburn for example is still very decent and i got six fills before noticing a slight drop off in flavour which again is about par for these type of pods.

The draw activation is as good as on any device that i have tried and it didn't once fail to activate giving a reliable vape every time. Also the potentiometer dial works great, as you turn it and take vapes you can detect the increase in power and vaper as well as the warmth of the vape increase. At the lowest point (3.2v) it still gives a decent vape but is on the cool side so just turn the dial until you hit your sweet spot.

For me having to change the whole pod when the coil is spent rather than just the coil is a con but at least this type of sealed pod is much more leak resistant and i experienced no leaking whatsoever. I could see the juice inside the pod but not always just at a glance and although i don't mind lightly tinted pods the Potento pods are just too dark! I also don't like the need to remove the pod from the device to fill although i had no issues while filling.

The two tier battery status is better than nothing but really i would expect 3 tiers minimum although i do like how easy it is to check the status and the fact despite being draw activated only it has an On/Off button so the device can be switched off.

For it's size and having a potentiometer a 580mAh battery is as big as is possible which isn't great but in conjunction with the 1.2ohm pod doesn't give bad life but it does vary depending on how high you set the dial. Having Type C USB is great and 45 minutes to charge while supporting pass-through i am also very happy with as i am that the device can be stood up even while charging.

To sum up the Potento with it's potentiometer dial and very responsive draw activation has a bit more about it than most simple pod systems but could be improved on in way of better battery status indication and a clearer Pod!

Lost Vape Grus 100W how it's made:

It would be easy to describe the appearance of the Grus and reduce it to a simple rectangle; in reality its surfaces are a set of convexities, curves, bevels, grooves and flattened areas. There are no edges, its lively lines are always connected to each other in a sweet and functional way ensuring great ergonomics and tactile pleasure during the vape, moreover the Grus is stable and safe resting on the table.

The frame is built entirely of zinc alloy, the stainless steel parts are; the 510 base, the support base and the battery compartment cap. The plastic parts concern the front panel which contains the display and the control keys.

With so many metal parts the weight of the Grus rises up to 180g which are not few! However, even with a 21700 cell inserted and with the tank full of liquid screwed on, its portability remains very good and not at all tiring, thanks to a form factor guessed in the smallest details.

9.jpg

The side view showcases the lively design of the Grus with the high color density acrylic insert in the center, this sample is part of the color choice category called "universal series" by Lost Vape. In the structure of the Grus it is easy to distinguish the areas of the steel frame from those in zinc alloy, the latter are painted the others are not. The writing "Grus" heads high on the side profile of the 510 cup, on the other side the writing is that of the Brand (Lost Vape).

DNA or YiHi?

Hello folks,

Planning to invest in a DNA or YiHi mod, my eye currently is on the Lostvape Mirage (DNA 75c), Yihi SX mini SL class, or the Lostvape Paranormal DNA 250c. Has anyone had experience with these mods, or would you suggest a different DNA/YiHi mod? I own the Steamcrave Hadron, its just a bit too bulky for me sometimes.

Also, what do you prefer, DNA or YiHi?

My vape preference is a combination of MTL and RDL (single coil), so for me a mod that fires up to 75w is sufficient.

Thanks all, much appreciated,
Sjoerd

Disclaimer: The Swag II kit was sent to me by HealthCabin for review.

Design & Build Quality: Swag II Mod
I never got to use the original Swag, so my first impression when opening the box was how on earth does an 18650 battery fit in this mod?! This is one hand and pocket friendly mod.

The Swag II has the same finish as the Gen series of mods; a rubberised, soft, dimpled finish that is lovely to hold in the hand.

I was sent the Rose colour, which looks pink on the box, but actually looks red to me in the flesh. It blends into black at the base of the Swag II. You can also get it in Silver, Black, Red, Blue, Green, Purple and a number of funky pattern designs, so there’s sure to be something that takes your fancy.

The battery is top loaded into the mod and is done by unscrewing the top cap, which is actually hollow, so a small part of your battery is extending out of the mod and then the cap screws back on to cover the end of your battery. That answered my question as to how an 18650 fits in the mod. The threads of the battery cap are smooth when screwing and unscrewing.

On top, next to the battery cap, is a spring loaded 510 connection plate. You can fit tanks / atomisers up to 25mm in diameter without any overhang.

The front panel has a circular fire button, the screen and the menu button at the bottom. On the left side of the mod is an up and down adjustment button. All the buttons have the rubberised finish on them and feel nice to press and are responsive in use.

There is a micro USB port on the right side of the mod.

On the bottom there are some battery venting holes, regulation marks and an Axon chip branding.

Overall, the build quality seems good on the Swag II mod. It’s very reminiscent of the Gen series of mods. I like how it feels in the hand and it’s a very compact and pocket or bag friendly device.

Features & Functions
The Swag II is powered by the Axon chip, which is the same chip used in the Gen series of mods. If you have used a Gen you’ll know what to expect in terms of how the menu is laid out etc as it is exactly the same.

The Swag II can provide a maximum output of 80W, but being a single 18650 battery device, if you use the upper range of the available wattage you will certainly notice your battery draining every time you vape.

The Swag II mod has three wattage modes: soft, normal and hard. It also has a variable voltage mode, a custom wattage curve mode and a bypass mode. It has temperature control also: TCSS, TCTi, TCNi and a manual mode where you enter your own TCR value.

The variable wattage, variable voltage, temperature control and bypass modes are all found under the ‘DIY Mode’ menu.

It can fire up to 80W in wattage modes and in temperature control you can set your desired temperature between 200-600F

It also features a pulse mode, which is actually the default mode on the Swag II. In pulse mode you set your wattage as normal but the Swag II pulses the wattage every 0.02 seconds. The pulsing isn’t something you can notice as it happens so fast, but Vaporesso say it gives ‘27% extra flavour and cloud satisfaction.’ I don’t know about the exact percentage and how you would measure that, but I definitely get better flavour using pulse mode, so that’s what I have mainly been using.

Another mode is Power Eco which helps to conserve battery life. When your battery drops to 40% the Swag II will ask you if you want to switch to Power Eco mode. You can also set the Swag II to automatically switch to Power Eco mode by enabling ‘Auto Eco’ in the settings menu.

Smart TC mode will try to automatically detect what material your coil is and set the appropriate TC mode. I didn’t use this mode as I didn’t have any TC compatible coils.

Finally you have Super Player mode which allows you to use coils that have a really low resistance and would not normally fire

Swag II Button Combinations
- Turn On / Off: Press the fire button five times
- Lock Adjustment and Menu Buttons: Press the fire button three times
- Enter Menu: Press menu button three times

NRG PE Tank
The NRG PE tank has a delrin 510 drip tip on top, which is removable. I found it to be a nice drip tip to use.

The top cap slides with a slight pivot to reveal the single fill port, which is a nice and large kidney shaped port. You can remove the top cap for cleaning or replacing the gasket for the fill port. It is reverse threaded, so will unscrew in a clockwise direction.

The glass on the tank is a straight glass which holds 3.5ml of liquid. You do not get a spare replacement or a bubble glass option in the box.

The bottom airflow control ring has large dual slots, one on either side, and knurling all the way around for grip. There are hard stops on the airflow control ring and the resistance when turning the ring is a good tolerance.

On the base of the tank is a fixed 510 connection pin.

Performance
There are two coils included in the kit:

- GT4 Mesh 0.15ohm which is a dual mesh coil and has a recommended usage range of 60-70W
- CCell 0.5ohm which is a SS316 coil with a ceramic core wick

I tried the GT4 Mesh coil first and upon installing the coil it read as 0.2ohm. The airflow is very airy when wide open and still a lot of airflow when cut down to half open. If you close it down to a quarter open it starts to feel a bit more restrictive. It’s quite a noisy airflow on this coil. At 60W the flavour is ok and upping to 70W provides a bit more flavour, but overall the flavour was quite average on this coil.

Next I tried the CCell coil, which has a more restrictive draw than the GT4 Mesh coil. It is a 0.5ohm ceramic coil and has a recommended wattage range of 25-35W. I found the flavour to be quite lacking on this coil anywhere in the recommended range.

Verdict
The Swag II is a very nice little mod. It feels and works just like a mini Gen mod, having the lovely rubberised finish. It’s a pleasure to hold and fits well in a pocket or bag.

The menu system can take a little getting used to, but once you have a play around it’s not difficult to get to grips with.

I found the Eco Mode to absolutely kill the performance of the mod though. It’s better to turn off Auto Eco Mode in the options and just carry a spare battery as it severely impacts the quality of vape you get from the device.

Being a single 18650 mod it’s best paired with a tank that will use lower wattages; a MTL tank is ideal. If you are using a sub ohm tank at higher wattages just be prepared with a spare battery.

The NRG PE tank is pretty average and there are plenty of better choices available.

Overall, if you want a very portable and nice little mod for out and about, the Swag II ticks all the boxes nicely. Just swap out the tank for something better and you have a very portable out and about set up.

Pros
- Swag II is really nice to hold
- Small form factor, very portable
- Swag II looks good
- I like the Pulse mode from the Gen series
- Fits tanks / atomisers up to 25mm

Cons
- NRG PE tank offers average performance
- Eco Mode severely impacts performance, I just turn it off

Thank you for reading and thank you to HealthCabin for sending me the Swag II kit for review.

They have them listed for £32.02 / $39.99 on their website

Review:

Design wise it reminds me a lot of the Legend/X, it is like a tiny little Legend/X. It is light weight and it feels really solidly made like I am used to from the Aegis devices. It is much smaller and lighter than I actually expected, quite a bit smaller than the boost. See below a picture of the Hero next to the Boost Plus and Aegis X.

Materials are the regular Aegis type, zinc alloy, silicone and leather. Like with all of my other Aegis devices the silicone loves dust, it absorbs it like a vacuum cleaner. No big deal since you can just wash the device under the tap as this one also is IP67 certified, water, shock and dust proof.

All buttons feel proper and I like the fire button, it’s quite small but it’s a comfortable one.

Probably the only thing I dislike on this device is the screen, it is so tiny and they squeezed so much information on it, kind of similar to the boost, but the lay-out on the boost is much better. There is more than enough space on the front panel for a larger screen.

There is not much functionality apart from VW, resetting of puff count, locking and choosing between two modes P (power) and B (bypass). Locking only locks the up and down button which is the way I like it, but if a user likes it can also lock the fire-button, once it is locked you can click 3x on the fire-button to luck/unlock the fire button. It is easy to navigate through the device, 3 x fire button to switch mode, hold up and down to lock/unlock the device, hold fire button and down to clear the puff counter.

This pod-mod would have been better if it would support draw-activation, pity that Geekvape did not think of that.

Really like this pod, it has a proper 4ml capacity, top-fill, a top adjustable airflow ring, replaceable 510 drip-tips, compatibility with the boost coils and it is transparent enough to see liquid level. Have not experienced any leaking issues and the pod snaps really well into place and does not wiggle. Also like the fact that the pod is properly visible and is not hidden inside the device.

Airflow ring turns smoothly and the amount of air you can get is about right for the coils provided, a nice restricted DTL hit. It also sounds smooth.

Wrote already many times about these Boost coils and I like the fact that Geekvape is making cross-compatible devices for these coils. For me they are proper coils delivering good flavor and have proper longevity. What I do miss however is a coil that covers the wattage rang from 33-45 watts. A device that fires up to 45w but does not have the coil for it would be the same as a device that fires up to 33w. Unless a coil or RDTA is in development the 45w range becomes useless, fingers crossed!

Can you use it as an MTL? Yes, you can, and it gets quite tight as well when the airflow is opened just a tiny bit. Like using it as MTL with the 0.6ohm coil at around 15-18w, as the flavor is fantastic, and the throat hit is proper. Would love to see a simple roud-wire coil somewhere between 1.0 and 1.2ohm to restrict the airflow even more and get a legit MTL hit (my style, very tight).

Battery wise the Boost has 300mAh more than the 1200mAh that is packed in the Hero. Unfortunately for charging it has micro USB, USB-C would have helped with the charging. A full charge takes about 50 minutes and one round of usage at 33w gives me around 85 puffs, which is not massive, but didn’t expect much more than that considering the 1200mAh battery.

Conclusion:

This device is actually very close to the Boost, but the airflow on the Hero is much better and smoother. Also, the form factor I like more on the Hero, it is small, and a perfect stealth vape device.

If you are looking for a small, proper and strongly built DRL pod-mod, then this is a good choice. Even for MTL vapers this is a nice little pod-mod for on the go.

@Geekvape_Official, we just need more coils! Some lower and higher resistance coils to increase the range of coils. Also draw-activation would have been nice to have, and USB-C would have been good to speed up charging a bit.

Thank you, let me know if you have any questions.
