Your correct but, fiddling with a while and install some good apps and they actually are pretty smart. New smart phones have more computational power than a lot of desktops. Pretty amazing when you really think about it. By the way, I'm bringing my Roku so we can watch the new Star Wars movie should anyone desire. :)

"A while" would depend on your definition .. my last "Smart" phone took about 4 hours to set up the way I wanted it .. :(

Re Post of an Earlier Post .. I have a guy coming in the Morning to load my gear .. so, not to be a pest, but I would like some input .. ?? I see no point in this exercise if a Boom Box is going to max out what we are allowed to do .. those that remember, I was a Sound Engineer most of my life (among other things .. :) ) .. Help a Brother Out .. ??

I won't fly since I had planned at the get go to bring a small system with me in the truck that will convert a designated area to a Club style space .. 2000 watts, two 18" subs, two 15" subs, lasers, the whole shizzle .. if you're going to do it, you may as well do it right, right .. ?? I don't know what the noise ordinance is, but I'm sure there is some sort of cut off time ..

The owner of the house, with whom I am contracted, has made it very clear that this is a residential area and we should respect that. She has also let me know, based on the contract terms, she has had to have young people removed from the house by the police when their parents had rented the house for them and things got out of hand and the contract terms were violated. I assured her that we are a bunch of old coots who would be respectful to the neighbors even during the daytime and it is in the contract that after 10 pm there should be no noise.

I live in a residential area myself .. and, periodically, I'll have an outdoor party where I set up some gear and 10 PM is when the noise ordinance kicks in .. up until then, it's pretty much anything goes .. even at low output, a proper system will rumble and sound will carry, it's the nature of the beast ..

Now, if your contract specifically contains some sort of noise definition, (which is pretty hard to define definitively) ..

Point being, there is no need for me to haul 800 pounds of equipment if a transistor radio has to suffice .. :) .. in addition, this morning I have toyed with bringing a Karaoke player and disks as well, which just adds to it ..

So, I'm making it clear that if I bring the gear, things gonna get loud, at least pre-10:00 PM .. sound travels, it cannot be contained .. as well, I personally could care less about the neighbors since I meant it when I said it's not a Party till 5-0 gets called .. Hell, invite the neighbors for all I care ..

Guidance from the Collective Requested ..

None of us are teenagers.....everyone is over 50.....and there will be no children attending. I personally see no valid reason not to be able to have music and dancing before 10 PM. If need be.....I'm perfectly willing to go knock on neighborhood doors ahead of time and let them know we are a group of older individuals who are going to be playing music to dance to and karaoke, to dispel any fears of what is going on there.....

Please bring something anyhow. Maybe not 800lbs of equipment but we definitely need something. I am bring what little I have but don't have any PA equipment anymore. Would love to get these ladies dancing. Bring it all if you want. We'll have a blast. :)

Bumped to da top o' my tagged posts 'cause it should be!

WOOHOOOO! Just got a call from my Bride with some wonderful news. Apparently the insurance approved her new chemo and the specialty pharmacy is sending it by next day air. She should have it tomorrow and will be able to start the cycle on Monday! :D

Kaez,
What absolutely glorious news ..

May your bride and you continue to reap your efforts!

Just got home......had to have a pedicure.....sandals in Florida require pretty toenails....;)

"The Dress".....is in my suitcase, which Mike can verify before we leave my place....

Just a lil' clue fer down here, just walk da beaches and shuphphle your pheet thru da sands!

Problem with some shake n' vapes is it may not be that great a week or so later! Steeping can improve or... rot.

Yepper...

Supposedly, adding a little bit of citric acid to the juice will help to stabilize the flavor so that it doesn't change much. I've not tried it...

Been a long time proponent fer sum LJ or ACV (a drop per 5 or 6 per ml to make da joose recipes pop a lil'!

.. Help a Brother Out .. ??

Willie,

No one here expects you to be a concert DJ at da Odyssey. Just bring your personality, charm and succulent stories to enliven da festive environment, relax, sit back, share and relish in da porch camaraderie and love!

At the very least, consider how far Susan (seapeach) has went out on a 'limb' (aka contract/finances) and has really made this gathering possible; along with a couple of our precious 'porch harem'...

BTW, Jack is also awaiting your appearance...

Well,

Cloths and toiletries are organized for the week. Tomorrow the important stuff ... electronics and vape gear.

Oh and Yiddle too. Better add her to the check list. I'd imagine she'd be a bit annoyed if I forgot her. :D
Yeh, I'd be willing to be bet that she'd be ...... if you forgot her!

Iffy, I think you nailed the feeling.

I SO agree Cathy. On reflection of my posts i realize how harsh I sounded. I obviously don't have the gift of gab,so to speak, and I'm afraid i somewhat freaked out, imagining p.o.d neighbors ,cops, etc., being kicked out so far from home....not a pleasant thought, and Susan being put on the spot, too. Believe me, i know first-hand how out-of-control people ( meaning me also) can get with booze and boogying mixed together. I've even contemplated not going...I don't want to be a party-pooper there. Right now I'm at an empasse...I'll just have to work it all out... perhaps i'm making a bigger deal of it than it actually is.

I'm sorry... I know this post is depressing and you all won't even be nearly as crazy and loud as I'm imaging, but it might be best, at least for me, if I air it, so to speak.I know I'm being a downer

I hope everyone has a wonderful time in FL! It's going to be grand: Porchers everywhere, soaking up the sun, chit chatting away, and sharing in the amazing camaraderie that defines the porches. All will be well, an all manner of things will be well :).

I will be with all y'all in spirit. Raise a glass to those of us who babysit our virtual Tiki House in your absence!

Safe travels!

Kay, yes, you are makin' a big pseudo deal outta nuttin' within your mind! Hey, we didn't get this far in life to have bravado and net talk to spoil a grand event.

I'll bet ya a dozen hugs and at least one slow belly-button-rubbin' dance dat you'll be relishin' da memories fer da rest of your dancin' life!

Have attended multiple remote 'events' wid self reservations (won't even talk 'bout local HS reunions). It's always been da real folk that made 'em all memorable with no regrets and fond memories (excluding said HS reunions; some young azzholes do grow up to be ol' azzholes)!

So I'll repeat fer you what I said earlier, "Just bring your personality, charm and succulent stories to enliven da festive environment, relax, sit back, share and relish in da porch camaraderie and love!" You're gonna have one wonderful experience...

I'm not sure why everyone is assuming all the music and dancing would take place poolside. Seems to me with booze involved.....not the best place for it. There is a very large living room, with a nice big floor area for all of this to take place that would be much safer, with a smooth floor to dance on......and the sound would be more contained than if it were to take place outdoors. I still think talking to those in the neighborhood could alleviate much of the concern, and.....the music we'll have is certainly not the headbanging stuff that very young people would be partying to......
