Who else is interested? Vegas or San Antonio? Other suggested dates?

Well, I'll hypothetically and arbitrarily suggest the check-in date of Sat Oct 1 and the check-out date of Sat Oct 8. I'd be willing to handle the duties and take on the financial liability that Susan performed so admirably for Odyssey I.

Who else is interested? Vegas or San Antonio? Other suggested dates?

We're heading to Colorado again in early October ... don't think two trips would be feasible for us.

Generic observations regarding location:
Nevada or Arizona increases the possibility that some of our Californian and Northwest friends would be able to attend.
Texas increases the possibility that more of our many Texas friends would be able to attend.

Also, of general interest, the cheapest ticket to walk on the Skywalk at the Grand Canyon is $81.

How about a house boat or two on the Lake & Up & Down the river?
Also London Bridge at night, very pretty.

Should probably move this kind of stuff to the O thread, huh???
There, done & done. Just trying to set a good example. :)

Those Havasu homes are nice.......and reasonable. ;) Just remember to stock up on bottled water. ;) Twice a day they flush the potable water system there and it gets a little, well, not nice. ;)
I personally don't drink water, fish pee in it!

for more years than I can remember, I've only drank distilled water. But I've just in the last week or so been drinking the fridge filtered water (ick) with some kinda tropical stuff ya squirt in it to make it better. Not fond of that either with artificial sweetners in it, but it makes my son much happier to not have to lug in gallons of distilled water. I always said that boat sink in it...... fish shi pee in it......I aint drinkin it!!

Our house has staged filters for the water installed. If you take a shower or wash clothes it has been filtered for minerals (sand and stuff - saves the hot water heater and the pipes a little).

If you take water from the kitchen sink there is a secondary filter that filters for bacteria.

And finally if you take water from the fridge the water is again filtered for chemicals (so all three stages on that water)... It is as good as any bottled water I have ever tasted...

Prolly told you this already some time in the past, can't remember:
A large majority of coffee aficionados would recommend against using distilled water to make coffee... brewed coffee needs SOME particulates in the water to brew at its best, and distilled water has none.

Just for the record, there is little chance either of "us" will actually be able to attend "O 2". I just wanted to contribute some ideas of a possible location that might interest most participants. From here on, I'm staying out of it but I will probably still lurk here and make a smart azz comment from time to time. ;)

Didn't want to mislead anyone. ;)

Carry on,

Understandable. Would luv to meet you and your bride F2F at some point!

Any input re a re-gathering location is appreciated. At some point, I do hope fer a Western Odyssey. Hey, take every opportunity to instigate/generate a porch gathering in whatever local is accessible/affordable fer da most in your area!

Geez...NO one gets my sense a humor.....

maybe cuz I'm a bit warped?!

Nah.....

I'll reserve my comments re your warpedness 'til after my .... bruises totally heal. ...., I do ever so luv your humor, attitude and you!

I used to sell rainsoft systems, but now know they're not that great. If I ever get to build or buy my dream house, it will have some type of really good whole house purification system in it.

I've always heard that, but it tasted purdy good to me, and didn't gunk up my coffee pot. But yeah I do get that concept. Some of the best "regular" coffee I ever had was in a restaurant, and I knew but also asked if they were using a filtration/purification system of some sort. They were, and I asked if it was folgers, and it was. Which is odd for a restaurant.

totally understand, but sooooo wish you could!!

Just my opinion I feel it is better if we either pick an area that has someone in the area to do the visual backup look for us and knows what is good or bad in the area or an area that a few are familiar with...
I agree that would be great.

As a lurker/observer, I'm starting to see a gravitation towards San Antonio. Maybe it's just me???????

Just my .02 FRN, think we need to get more input from those that would want to attend and those that could attend due to travel to selected location.

Considerations:
* When (time frame/month) - some folk will need time to gather funds
* How many willing - most likely location dependent
* Where, based upon da willing
*Now, how many committed after location selection

We were so fortunate wid da first Odyssey in that we garnered early commitments and a near unanimous site selection agreement!

In my case, chances are SA would be my pavement traveling limit westward. Would plan on two days each way, which would probably limit my stay to five full days at da Odyssey (which is OK wid moi, even wid paying for a week).

If it is in SA, I could probably pick up two passengers (on my dime) along da I75/I10 corridor on my way out yonder; and way back if they stay only da five days.

OTOH, if east of da Mississippi, we may garner more attendees (unknown at dis point). Ergo, let's juice up da juices and see how many would be truly interested before actual arrangements.

I know Dave is seeking a fall gathering. which I'm all for. But don't know how many could commit in that amount of time; especially considering many PO I attendees basically 'shot their wad$ & time off' then.

So beat da drum loudly!

Work?!?!?

I promised myself that I would not be one of those gleeful retirees. Broke the promise again.
