Porcher Odyssey Memories and Future Planning

Just my .02 FRN, think we need to get more input from those that would want to attend and those that could attend due to travel to selected location.

Considerations:
* When (time frame/month) - some folk will need time to gather funds
* How many willing - most likely location dependent
* Where, based upon da willing
*Now, how many committed after location selection

We were so fortunate wid da first Odyssey in that we garnered early commitments and a near unanimous site selection agreement!

In my case, chances are SA would be my pavement traveling limit westward. Would plan on two days each way, which would probably limit my stay to five full days at da Odyssey (which is OK wid moi, even wid paying for a week).

If it is in SA, I could probably pick up two passengers (on my dime) along da I75/I10 corridor on my way out yonder; and way back if they stay only da five days.

OTOH, if east of da Mississippi, we may garner more attendees (unknown at dis point). Ergo, let's juice up da juices and see how many would be truly interested before actual arrangements.

I know Dave is seeking a fall gathering. which I'm all for. But don't know how many could commit in that amount of time; especially considering many PO I attendees basically 'shot their wad$ & time off' then.

So beat da drum loudly!

Nashville or Memphis sounds good to me. My attendance at the next gathering depends entirely on work/financial situation. I, unfortunately, am going to have to go back to work after the move is completed. Money is getting tight and the stock market situation isn't helping at all.

Regardless of where we gather, assuming I'll be capable to go (i.e. RL/health), my offer to pick up a couple of attendees along my route still stands.

Is there anyway you or someone could build an Odyssey poll to sample possible PO2 attendees desired dates/locations? Say three weighted selections each...

Apparently, it ain't gonna be as 'easy' as da last time. But would luv to have as much porcher participation as possible!

If nuttin' else, I'll gladly scoot up to Dave's 'backyard' fer a one-on-one Odyssey dis autumn! Actually, I luv dat area... and Dave (seriously!)...

Bottom line <Kay, hush...>, we're gonna need a lotta porch input to plan another kickazz gathering!

Dear Daba et al, the chances of replicating that first Odyssey with all the same attendees and cooperation are slim. But the spirit of that gathering lives on beyond just that week and attendees. Consider those that came so 'close' but yet had to decline, some within a couple of weeks prior. That's not even considering those that followed the event via the forum!

I may at times appear to be an over enthusiastic cheerleader. But I challenge anyone that has met another porcher to admit they were disappointed. We all are into this life saving technology and warmly embrace our own kind! Plus, my memories are priceless...

For any porcher that reads this post, whatever you saw/heard/read about the PO1, ya shoulda been dere!

Now, all ya porchers get your 'stuphph' together and make plans to attend da next big O <oh, da dirty minds>; ya won't regret it!

Seems to me that UW was talking about Memphis, but others keep mentioning Nashville. Either is cool with me but I'll vote for Memphis.

OK, all ears here re Nash & Mem! An autumn site would probably be best 'round Tenn (just due to 'limited' planning time and possible max participation).

As fer a late winter/springtime gathering, I would think the Porchers should determine where/when. Being able, I'm a 'go' wherever then...

My place is open for bidness if and when you and anyone you can kidnap can make it! In fact, it would be the perfect motivation for me to get the place more presentable, with a week's notice. (Without the week's notice, you're still welcome but quarters will be more makeshift.)

Selling the house will but, I do intend to retire one of these days you know plus I am going to flip the townhouse as soon as possible so we'll use that money for construction funds, at least part of it. Flipping the townhouse if done right will net us about $100,000. Think I'm going to get a job at or Homely Despot so I'll get the employee discount.
