The tinkerer in me REALLY wants to open it up and try to clean it out; but, since the shop has agreed to replace it tomorrow, I should probably leave it alone...

must... resist... tinkering!!1
If they are going to replace it tomorrow, don't even think about opening it.

I saw some youtube video of a guy opening his VT and let's say he got kinda impatient to the point he ripped the mod's guts out and killed the board. He somehow convinced himself that the fire button was part of the board and pushed it in hard trying to pull the top off at the same time... Problem was that that chrome button is not attached to the board and should come out after removing the board... He probably cracked the board in that attempt.

Don't touch it if they are replacing it. You probably can't fix anything in there anyway.

I know how you feel. I've had 3 iSticks go bad and didn't get a chance to open any of them. One 50w that autofired (replaced). One 30w that turned itself into a 40w (replaced 2 days before the 90 day warranty went out...thanks evape.us). And I had another 50w that just died and wouldn't reset. I found a piece of thread material in the 510 connector shorting it out and that fixed it. Finally another member has sent me a dead 30w. :) I've got it to work again but it has developed some new problems.

It still reads the resistance perfectly with all of my atty's; and yes, it still says "No Atomizer" if I try to fire it without an atty.

It started happening randomly in the middle of the day yesterday with a pretty full charge. I just tried what you suggested, but no luck.

Every now and then -- like 1 try every 20 -- it actually fires normally. The rest of the times it shows the Battery Low message. Weird.

Dammnn, something going on. Sounds like a loose battery connection or something.

I have noticed on mine that, at higher loads, while I fire it the battery will drop like halfway and then rebound after the hit. Then it may not do it for a long time.

I have wondered why, now I'm curious.. Gonna have to crack it open and see if I can find anything wrong.

How difficult is it to open up the VT for cleaning and then reassemble it afterwards? Is it just the four allen screws on top?

Super easy man. Put the button to the bottom when you pull it out so it stays in..

Unless you marr the torx screws I don't know how they would know.

No sure if it was discussed here, but Joytech has stopped production of The Evic and will resume on July 9th. I bet they are making some changes.

Waiting for version 2 is always recommended for any vape gear...:thumb:

(I have an excuse, I won mine in a contest)

The problem is that Joyetech's support has adamantly denied that an updated version is in the works. Check out their emails that I posted here a page or two back -- I have no idea what to believe.

They could upgrade without calling it a "new version". They could be troubleshooting problems such as assembly or other QC. They could be changing to different vendor's components. They could be scratching their heads and doing nothing. :)

20 clicks will at least let us know if the firmware is updated, if not the chips

Or they just have to build something else.. They can't manufacture all the products at once.. This is not by any means the only product they manufacture.

Actually the definate known time frame is more in line with a factory production schedule. It's all planned out. They know what is going to get built every day, week, and month.

Maybe they have to catch up on making other devices that they are behind on. Then the vt will get its turn on the line again. :)

One thing is for sure, they didn't "stop production" just for the hell of it.
I believe they said through an email to someone that production stopped temporarily because some parts weren't available for manufacturing. Could be an excuse, but with the price of this thing I kind of doubt it. The device is working quite well once people figured out that it uses a form of refinement. We may see a different firmware at some point in the manufacturing process that changes the way the 30w pulse works, but I don't think that is a priority for them.

I don't know if iSmoka did any changes to the isticks when they stopped production but the later isticks don't seem to be having as many problems. As long as the Evic doesn't start acting like this, I see no problem with "glitches" :)

I shot this one this morning. I've had several 30s and 50s with BLS. Sometimes they just start firing sittin there. One 50w I had ran for 4 + days before finally being taken apart to stop it.

Stats - joyetch evic vt.
Kanthal - .75 ohm
Power - 35-40w indicated (feels like 3-5 w more than indicated to me?)
Runtime - 734 puffs , 1266 sec.
Days - for me about 2 & 1/4 days

Ok, I've been very impressed with the battery life in temp control mode!

My battery life increased. I made it a full 3 days now. (Full charge to lock.)

★ Evic vt usage stats ★

.52 ti (28g)
50w
580° - 600° setting in ti

- 834 puffs
- 1374 seconds
Days - 3
------------

Kinda weird its exactly 100 more puffs, and a little over 100 seconds more.

It seems that it doesn't count some of the time while its temp protecting. My "on time" per vape is lower with tc.

Even lipos have a little break in period and achieve max performance after 3 or so charges (in the Rc world at least)

Funny you mention the battery today as I just finished testing mine with that USB gadget that was used here a few weeks ago to demonstrate the batt had more than 4500mah.

I still say it's bullock. I tested a worn out (70% capacity) one year old 1900mah battery and it charged up to 2105Mah according to the USB device. Great! Only problem: discharging it at 190mah (C/10) gave me astonishing 1387mah. It was toasted before the test and it remains toasted after it.

Charged the VT completely from 0 to 100 and got 4759mah

If one should extrapolate from the 'other' lipo experience, it's 4500mah.

Not saying this is good or bad but it ain't 5000mah in my book.

I get 1.5 days out of a Samsung 25R and a little over 2 days out of the VT... Exactly as expected from a 4500mah pack.

And now I don't want to discuss battery capacity any further. It's still a great mod :)
