Sad this thing's crossing the lower keys at this moment. Was hoping all night it wouldn't shoot inexplicably straight up and go out the straights instead as per models I was seeing. At the 9:45 NOAH loop (below) it almost looks like a wall that's presenting along the West left flank of the storm inhibiting its NW progression. The low lengthening and distorting, no longer convex but concave. Disappointing that the storm although far weaker than touted will make landfall along the coast instead of staying offshore.

Prayin for the peeps there on the ragged edge.

Good luck all. :)

So this is what I also did this morning...
This is gonna hit the front of my house - it faces South.
I have 'hurricane horizontal bars' on my garage door but I am going to scout out what else I can do to keep it from blowing in.
I shoved what I could up to it...the trash bin for size and the compressor for weight behind it.
And (don't laugh) outside tied the handle to the hitch on the truck.
The handle seems to be in a stronger part of the door.
At least it's something more...and that little bit might be all it needed...right ?

I agree, your worst winds are probably going to be from the south.

What size garage door? Single? Double?

Do you have a vehicle in the garage? If so, I would back it up and have it just touching the door from the inside.

Will you be keeping a vehicle outside? A vehicle parked sideways outside your garage door (as close as possible to the door) can do a lot to shield the door from wind load.

Double with not a speck of room to put a vehicle in there.
Yes, the truck and the car are right up to the door, no way to get one there sideways.

Just checking in. Still in West Palm Beach been heavy rain and winds off and on all night. There's even been a few tornado warnings and flickering of Lights. Other than that not much else thankfully. Now comes more of the waiting. Worst part no brewed coffee only instant- NOT NICE . . ..:w00t: :-x

Instant?!? That is against all laws of humanity!!! ;)

My thoughts too!

Just checking in from the Treasure coast. Still have power. Winds have been gusting pretty good here. Some tornado warnings for north of me but in the same county, last night.

Slept like a baby last night. I was surprised when it was almost 8 when I woke up. That's the bad thing about hurricane shutters. It always looks like it is 5:30 in the morning. I open my eyes and see that it is still darkish and go back to sleep.

Our lanai is protected from the winds by the wall of the house. We decided to not put up the shutters on the sliders back here. As I'm typing, I'm sitting in my lounger watching the trees bow and dance in the wind but am only feeling a slight breeze at times.

I do love weather and storms...as long as I'm safe ;)

Just saw a grave little bird try to fly into the wind. He decided to go home I think.

One thing I have noticed, I haven't seen a lizard on my pool cage yesterday and today. They are probably all up under the hurrican shutters! I am not going to open my blinds to find out. LOL

...as long as they don't start tapping to get in
I like the little lizards here :)
