Wow. Hope it recedes quickly so you can move into clean phase. Hope there is lots of help for you. I heard The Cajun Navy is on their way there. They were great here!
There are places in FL where they might me needed, but my neighborhood isn't one of the. That water is just deep enough to float a kayak in, but not much more.

I just got a message from Uncle....he is without power & limited mobile data.....He is alright and will check in when he can..........

Thanks for the update. Glad he's ok.

Iffy says he made it through as did Doree and I. We are fine. No major damage other than the huge tree behind the house going diwn Don't know if Iffy suffered much damage but, i do know that they are okay.

Thanks for checking in and also letting us know about Iffy. Now get some rest before you try to tackle that tree.

I count my blessings. Most of us fared well, relatively speaking. I just saw that the Keys got hit really hard Key West is closed. Some keys are under feet of water. Many people lost everything. :(

My heart goes out to them.

We've stayed at Islamarada and Key West so we're familiar with how low that ground is. Can't imagine that some of the restaurants we ate at would survive. So sad, but those islands are just so vulnerable. I sure hope everybody got out ok.

Don't think I'd be out playing in water that has an outhouse tipped over in it but that's just me

Oh no. Does that include your apartment? The good news though is that you're ok and at Publics.

fingers crossed your recent dune reconfiguration did the job!
The inner dune held where there was a gap between it and the outer dune. But it failed at the north end of the property where inner and outer dune merged together. Live and learn.

Still, I don't have anywhere close to as much sand around the house and all over the lot as last year, and I'm speculating that the inside of the house didn't take on any water (based on pics from a neighbor who stayed). Won't know for sure until tomorrow at the earliest because the authorities have the whole barrier island on lock-down today.

We went out and inspected the trees on our property just now. Three fell down and two more are partially uprooted and leaning over the road. If they come down before the tree people get here they will block the road and probably take the power line with them :(.

Edit: three guys who live in the neighborhood and have a truck, chain saw and tractor with bucket just stopped by and cut off the ends of the ones that were leaning over the road and power lines. They are neighbors being neiborghly. Spent the whole day driving around doing this for anyone who needs it. Warms my heart

    Sebring got record winds-130mph

    That's where @Burnie is I believe.
yep, we got hammered but good. No real damage to the structures. The old fencing in back (east side) got blown down, which was on the list to be replaced anyway, lots of small stuff all over the yard from the oaks, and a couple of fair size limbs, but nothing major. All and all I think we came out good considering how strong Irma was. Glad everyone else is doing good.

(Doing this on a cell phone sucks)
Still no power, cable, or internet. Do have a generator to keep from loosing our food.

Where's your sense of adventure? ;)

Lost it when I helped rebuild a treatment plant in St Louis after their flood and got sick as a dog for three days
