My guess is that we did not get much, if any water in it.

Yeah, that water has a flesh eating bacteria in it. It's been a problem here with every storm. The least break in the skin can be bad.Don't think I'd be out playing in water that has an outhouse tipped over in it but that's just me![]()
We went out and inspected the trees on our property just now. Three fell down and two more are partially uprooted and leaning over the road. If they come down before the tree people get here they will block the road and probably take the power line with them.
Edit: three guys who live in the neighborhood and have a truck, chain saw and tractor with bucket just stopped by and cut off the ends of the ones that were leaning over the road and power lines. They are neighbors being neiborghly. Spent the whole day driving around doing this for anyone who needs it. Warms my heart![]()

Fingers crossed & prayers for everyone. The inner dune held where there was a gap between it and the outer dune. But it failed at the north end of the property where inner and outer dune merged together. Live and learn.
Still, I don't have anywhere close to as much sand around the house and all over the lot as last year, and I'm speculating that the inside of the house didn't take on any water (based on pics from a neighbor who stayed). Won't know for sure until tomorrow at the earliest because the authorities have the whole barrier island on lock-down today.
Lost it when I helped rebuild a treatment plant in St Louis after their flood and got sick as a dog for three days![]()
Good for those guys! I used to go out with my Dad & do things like this. Basically just drive around & look for people who need help, & get it done, then go find someone else to help.We went out and inspected the trees on our property just now. Three fell down and two more are partially uprooted and leaning over the road. If they come down before the tree people get here they will block the road and probably take the power line with them.

That is all good news, sounds like you've squeeked thru well.yep, we got hammered but good. No real damage to the structures. The old fencing in back (east side) got blown down, which was on the list to be replaced anyway, lots of small stuff all over the yard from the oaks, and a couple of fair size limbs, but nothing major. All and all I think we came out good considering how strong Irma was. Glad everyone else is doing good.
(Doing this on a cell phone sucks)
Still no power, cable, or internet. Do have a generator to keep from loosing our food.
That is soooo close! This is my place:

FPL is reporting 5 million customers without power -- the most ever for any storm. It's gonna be a while until they're all back on-line.

Thanks for letting us know.
