So why don't some of us old-timers reminisce a little bit about how it used to be....

--I remember when new members would be struggling constantly trying to find the path to a satisfying vape

This was a daily constant, never ending, something new and better coming out every day!

--I remember when the 510 came on the scene, with a somewhat lower resistance atomizer, and new vapers started having increased success
--I remember when 510 cartridge mods were all the rage, as folks kept trying to find a good way to continue getting those consistently good vapes

Blue foam, straw, teabag method all come to mind. Finding something that got juice to the atty without leaking or having any harmful contaminates

--I remember when the KR808D came on the scene, and cartomizers started pushing new vaper success rates even higher

Cartos, that really got the vaping going, there were NO tanks of any kind back then

--I remember the ensuing 510 vs KR808D wars
--I remember the Boge Cartomizers for the 510 models that may well have turned the tide towards 510 models
--I remember when low-resistance (LR) atomizers came on the scene and the ability to vary your "power" became a reality
--I remember the FDA court case, and the formation of CASAA from members on this very forum

I can remember the Amicus Brief coming about with the Smoking Everywhere/Njoy court case going. Really our first long fight in a battle that's not over yet

--I remember when CASAA started working closely with long-time harm-reduction advocates, thus giving long-time THR advocates new life and consumer backing

The best move as the forming of CASAA, we the people

--I remember when the Chuck came out with custom graphics

Thanks for the reminder, I need to pull out my Chucks now that we have some decent tanks out there! Show off my beautiful graphics again!

--I remember the Chuck vs Silver Bullet wars
--I remember when the Reo Mods came out, and took dripping to a whole new level
--I remember when Egos came out and new vaper success started to skyrocket
--I remember the Buzz, which if I remember correctly, started the variable voltage revolution

This was a game changer way back when

--I remember when the Provari came out and started the variable voltage wars
--I remember when the Nhaler came out with the Darwin and started the variable wattage vs variable voltage wars

Just look what we have today vs what we had way back in the beginning.

And I look at that the New Members sub-forum these days, and find very few struggling at first vape anymore.
Success, now, is nearly guaranteed.

That's progress.
:)

What do you all remember?

--I remember when there were NO vape meets way back when
--I remember actually talking (on the phone) to a lot of vendors, there just were not a lot of vendors available way back when
--I remember a lot to trial and error way back when
--I remember all the help I've received along my vaping journey

Amen, that is definitely progress! I hope the new members think about all the $$'s we've spent since starting vaping, that's help each of us get where we are today in terms of advancements/technology!

The best advice I could offer up to vapor's today would be join CASAA. We need head count/numbers to be more effective in fighting this battle to keep vaping alive. I challenge each of you to fight for our vaping rights! Become a CASAA Member

I remember buying a box of fish tank filter foam for filler material in my 510 carts. I also remember dripping with 510 atty on a 5v pass through. I remember some ridiculously big ego XL cartomizers. I remember that every 510 battery, ego battery, cartridge, atty, or carto I had was black. I remember some tiny (1.5mil?) 510 cartos that had no filler and had to be filled with a syringe.

I first started vaping in 2009. It's not really that long ago, but in the vaping world, it's like eons ago.
My first was a little 4081 device that I purchased from Smoking Everywhere in the mall. It worked ok at first, but soon started failing on me. But I guess that's what I get for buying an ecig at a mall kiosk. It also had just a tiny little wad of a wick. I think I could only get about 10-15 drops of juice in it at a time. Can you imagine only being able to fill your tank with only 10-15 drops of juice. Whats that, about 10 puffs? Lol.

Then I graduated to a 510. It was a lot better than the 4081 by a long shot, but still had the lack of juice storage, so I started using cartos. Much better, but a real PITA to fill and keep in my car without juice leaking all over. And I had to carry a bunch of spare batteries with me to last the whole day.

Then I got a few H-16 1300mah. That was one of the best batteries I have had. Even to this day. Those things lasted alllllllll day long. But still the problem with the cartos being kind of messy.
I also got some little box mod. Like most of the mods today, you have to remove the batteries and charge them. The only problem was the box was made of very poor construction and materials. It is the true meaning of the word mod for sure. I think it was just a battery holder for some toy that was modified with a button and a hole to screw in a atty. It only lasted me a few weeks and then I stopped using it.

After that I quit the whole ecig scene for a while. It was just easier to go back to analogs. No more muss, fuss or mess of ecigs.

I started back up about a month ago because I have been seeing them in local B&M's so I bought a little VV ego that has a built in passthru in it. Got a nice little tank and have been loving it ever since. Tanks are so much better than old cartos, that'c for sure. And they are a lot less of a mess to fill and carry. What a difference a few years makes to these little devices. I'm pretty sure I'll be vaping for years to come now.

That sounds like the 510-T model?
Followed later by the Ego-T I believe?

Didn't the "T" stand for tank?

By they way, those are still going fairly strong, only not in the 510 model.
The ERoll is using the same type of system and has somewhat of a following.

I remember when the first carto tank was invented......and thankfully, improved.

I remember when there were new bottom feeder mods makers coming out regularly.

I remember iken 2.0 attys being a huge hit......just imagine, buying an atty with an known ohm instead of -- anywhere between 2.2 and 2.5 ohms. Then came the io6 and the hybrids.

I remember when Super T was the place to get AW batteries........and when AW batteries & Pila's were the only Good choice.

And, I remember when clearo's switched from being pretty horrible to the "topper" of choice for the ego kits....& twist kits.

I remember when we had several popular reviewers.....and when some left, like Steel Jan.

And, I do remember much of what has already been posted. :toast: (and have blue foam and cartridges stashed)

I don't remember, but this must not be overlooked ---- when the first drip tip was seen at a vape meet, by a modder, I believe. (bet he'd sure like having a 1 cent royalty on drip tip sales)

I remember building my first box mod (used 3 AA rechargable batteries) so I could get more than 2 hours battery life.

When the first manual button batteries came out (you were in control of the battery instead of the battery being in control of you).

Having to keep 1/2 a dozen different chargers for 901, 808, 801, 401 and 4081 batteries.

I, for one, would like to thank all of you that came before and blazed the trail. If it weren't for you all, I probably would still be smoking today. So:

Thank You!

I remember having some trouble with my Chuck at one point..freaking out because it was all I had that night. It would work, then it wouldn't. All the crap I carried back then lol..10$ atty's..exrta 18650 batts. Turns out the center post was out of wack lol. I hit it so many times trying to get that good hit..I got sick and had to lay down.

I also remember being out and about and snapping a screwdriver MKII in half somehow. That was a long night. The connection was still good..but I had to look crazy holding these wires and metal piece together.
