I don't believe in "zero pressure fill".

Well since I seriously doubt anyone will bother to attempt pressure measurement on the tank I guess it really doesn't make much difference. Not to mention does anyone really care? If it works what does it matter?

So far, the best top fill mechanism is the smok tank's, you just need to push it open:

I wish all my tanks have this type of top fill mechanism, including Merlin.

I like the idea of the tfv fill system, but the application of it was poor in my opinion. I have a tfv4, tfv4 mini, and a bachelor. All 3 of them have opened up in my pocket and dumped juice.

Probably not but you didn't happen to lose your o-ring in the top cap? That little bugger has gone down many a drain

Nope, it's still there. Just confirmed this. I tried to make sure to get them all back where they go. The only other thing I can think of is that this tank is one of those that are real picky about o-ring seating. Like you take an o-ring off and put it back on, and if it doesn't set the exact same way it was before, it might leak. I know some of them like to try to roll up, and I try to put them on without rolling them. Anyone know of a place that sells better quality o-rings for this? (Like thicker ones that you can't see molding lines on)

The next easiest RTA to fill is FeV.

Invert, unscrew the tank, pour directly out of the bottle, screw the tank back on and go.

It's also one of the only RTAs you can dry burn, rewick and fill in less than a minute.

I've posted this pic before. I have 2 merlins and they both seeped. One of my merlins seeping/leaking was due to a oring missing from the factory. The pic is of another merlin that still seeped but had the oring installed. You would have to break the merlin apart to see if there is a big thick oring under the JFC.
It shouldn't matter if you reinstalled the orings. They should set back nicely, the only problem I can see if the oring is twisted as your rolling it back into place, a chunkie under the oring not creating a proper seal or the glass isn't true.
I did read and have tried with my driptip orings is to boil them for a bit and it does add new life to old orings. My guess is that the juice softens them and they become more pliable especially in driptips, it got to the point that the driptips would just fall out of my atty but after a good boil the driptips all snap into place again.

Lol, I did boil them. I normally do that every few months. I've posted something about boiling them before on here. I first learned about that method when fixing my xbox 360 disc tray which takes an o ring as a rubber band belt. After time they tend to get stretched out and boiling them and then putting them in cold water helps to return the elasticity of them. I do however feel as if the main o rings around the top and bottom of the tank and deck are a little thin.

The rubber on belts and pulleys tends to get smooth and slippery over time. I have always used Rubber Renue on belts, idler wheels and pinch rollers. It brings life back to belts that are not stretched out of size, good until you can get a proper replacement.

Since o-rings are synthetic, I doubt it would work on them... ;)

Trentenmarschel, how did your essay come out Grade wise?
Got a 92% on the first personal essay. I will have to start working on the second one soon, but it is like a bibliography for the 3rd essay which is going to be an 8 page research essay. (That one will be fun)

If nothing else it helps clean them real well. I know it worked well on the rubber belt that was used on the Xbox disc tray.
This picture shows what they looked like. Not sure if they were synthetic.

Anyone know what the sizes of all the o-rings for this tank are? Mainly if they are metric or standard. It was made in china so that would be metric unless the design specs say otherwise.

Don't recall where I found this, I'm sure it was a Merlin thread somewhere. Can't make any statement of accuracy, but I'm sure it is close.

Merlin o-ring sizes below.

Code: ID CS OD Placement

5, 1, 7, End of Chimney Tube

8, 1, 10, Fill Ports

12, 1, 14, ?

14, 1, 16, Between Base and Chamber (bag)

15, 1, 17, Between Base and Chamber (on Merlin)

20, 1.2, 22.4, Top cap and Glass (3 required)

15, 1, 17, JFC Ring inside base

18 1.2 20.4 Between AFC / JFC inside base

Thanks so much. I'll order a lot of extras from amazon as a set and give them a try.

Merlin: m2.5×3mm grubs.
Three 5 x 1 mm
One 8 x 1 mm
One 12 x 1 mm
One 14 x 1 mm
Two 20 x 1.2 mm
Am I sure these are the correct sizes of the ones in the bag? Yep
Edit: The one between base and chamber is 15 x 1 not 14 x 1 mm, still may work just fine, not sure.(14 x 1 mm is what's in the bag)
Under the top cap (outer edge) and at the ends of the glass are the 20 x 1.2 mm, three are needed, two are included.
The 8 x 1 goes in the middle between the juice filling slots under the top cap.
The 5 x 1 mm goes on the end of chimney tube at chamber.

So are these all the ones that you can get to without unpressing any parts?

Im trying to make this table for all the required o-rings on the Merlin that can easilly be replaced.
Quantity : size

1 : 5x1 mm
1 : 8x1 mm
1 : 12x1 mm
1 : 15x1 mm
3 : 20x1.2 mm

Does this list include the drip tip o-rings? I dont really care about those much they play no importance to keeping it from leaking.

Please feel free to edit that list to the correct number. I'm trying to make it all the required o-rings that dont require a press to replace.

Confused on the glass. The one you linked to says 50mm in height with cap, while the original spare glass is 28mm.

Not sure of their measurements are real but that wouldn't be smaller.

I read it as replacement glass is 20mm while I just measured the original at about 26mm. If correct not sure how that's gonna fit.

It is a conversion kit to make the chimney shorter with a shorter glass piece. When they first listed it, the description said 50mm in height.

Merlin Mini NOW in stock. Only Silver, no black. So I only ordered one. I like my full size Merlin, but I dislike press fit parts, so if the first one doesn't leak, I'll get another, maybe a black version will come out on a US site.
