Hello everyone, just got my merlin! I'm a high ohm low wattage vaper. Rocking a 1.9ohm coil at 14 watts, love it.

Only thing is it's leaking from the air hole. Any ideas? Also any guidance on how much the airflow control should be open? This is my first rta with afc

My thoughts FWIW. At that low wattage you don't want a lot of airflow that will wick up the juice but not burn it sufficiently. Which might lead you pulling the juice from the wick into the air intake above the coil. So I might guess you'll want to keep that air restrictor in. If that doesn't work, lower ohms and higher wattage might be needed. I happen to be vaping a Merlin right now. 80% VG. No restrictor nut, air holes wide open. .69 ohms simple kanthal build, 24 gauge. Vaping wonderfully with cotton bacon @ 26 ohms. YMMV. Tax and title fees not included. [emoji12]

I just switched to making 70vg 30pg juice, but I filled the tank half way with my vanilla flavor to try it, then filled it the rest of the way with my caramel macchiato and took a couple hits and set it down on the table to do some other stuff. I looked over at it and juice was running down my mod.
Just closed jfc and blew all the juice out and it doesn't seem to be leaking at the moment. Not sure what it was. I took all the o rings out and cleaned them, but I made sure they all went back where they were supposed to go.

I assume the cap is screwed on sufficiently. That's very odd. Sounds like it's losing vacuum somewhere. I usually don't fill this tank all the way. Usually about three quarters. I did have a leak once in a regular tank by mixing juices of different viscosity. But since you make your own juice you would know about all that. Head scratcher.

One other thought. Make sure you have rotated the tank sufficiently so it is closed tight and that the juice flow holes are quite near the stop point. If you can rotate the tank one more turn then you haven't tightened it enough. Just a shot in the dark.

Damn Just built a new coil and put it together and....Started pouring liquid out the air flow. Like half a tank of liquid just poured down my hand. Eerg I hate cleaning for this reason.

Probably not but you didn't happen to lose your o-ring in the top cap? That little bugger has gone down many a drain

Lol...thanks ricks....i nearly had mine go down the sink....

This is a strange tank indeed....its so damn hard to open the top fill cap and unscrew the deck without hassle...maybe its just my piece.

How so? literally takes me seconds to pop the cap and fill, only tank I have that is easier is the Crius.

Same for deck access, takes longer for the juice to drain to the top then it does to unscrew the tank.

Not sure how it could be easier, unless you have specific issues with your Merlin?

So far, the best top fill mechanism is the SMOK tank's, you just need to push it open:

I wish all my tanks have this type of top fill mechanism, including Merlin.

I'd disagree, I have two TVf4, and a TVF8, don't care for the fill method.

why would you assume that? Why I don't like Smok's top fill.

1: all 3 of mine are very tight, and difficult to open/close, sure they may loosen over time, that little pin may even break over time, probably never know since the rest of the tank does not impress me.

2 fill port is to small for my use, and always end up getting juice all over.

Just my opinion, plenty like it, I do not.

Me too have both TFV4 and TFV8 and overall, neither do I like SMOK tanks, particularly, they lack JFC.

However, to me, overall bad impression shouldn't forfeit the fact that their top fill mechanism is SMART and the BEST - I really can't think of another easier way.

If you think again about this mechanism, it has another added advantage, because you slide it from the side to close it, that creates smaller pressure inside the tank compare with conventional screwing mechanism.
