Actually, having a properly operating/fitting anything is a quite realistic expectation.
Have I done workarounds on things? Yes. Have I done workarounds on expensive things? No.

"Actually", I never said ending up with an end product which works as it should is unrealistic, what I did say is expecting CHINA to have perfect quality control, and everything you get from them to be PERFECT IS and unrealistic expectation. Just isn't going to happen regardless of how loud people whine & cry.

In AU, most vaping items are expensive things.

And this is China's fault how? The populous allowed it to happen China does not charge more simply because they don't like them.

The fact that any manufacturer makes good on a defective item isn't a fair response. It is the only response. If they don't suffer the lost profit, why would they ever make quality products?

Well this one is certainly opinion, my opinion is what more can you ask? What needs to be done is to do your homework, buy from a decent vendor who supports the customer. We have no idea where he purchased this specific atomizer, nor what steps if any he tried to resolve the matter. Had he simply put in a little effort to contact Roxy she would have made sure it was taken care of. Not to mention the fact I get the distinct impression he would not be a very pleasant individual to deal with.

Take for example, the sigelei 213. Apologists excuse the broken, non-working thing. Sigelei makes more of the same in the Fuchai 213.

Apples to Oranges, a big difference in poorly written/implemented hardware/software and a mis-machined atomizer. Not to mention I don't see any effort from Sig to make anything right.

Yihi had a lousy finish on the M class. They fixed it. ML and Q don't have lousy finish.
Fixed it? how many individuals ended up with those poorly finished devices? Yea, they revised it, and made subsequent devices better, but I can't recall them fixing any M class, seems to me the fix was hide it with a skin, or some such other cover-up. How about all those expensive M class owners that ended up with something looking like it rode around in the back of a pickup truck for a year?

I'll go with punishing manufacturers that think I owe them a purchase and to be happy I got anything.

What an interesting descriptor you've used, "punishing" :danger:

I might add that ive heard didley squat from AugVape since i reported the issue, and before i posted here.

Any attempt to contact Roxy? I'm betting not. As previously mentioned I get the impression you probably aren't the nicest individual to deal with. Even so, If you had bothered to take the time to contact Roxynoodle, I'm quite sure she would have went out of her way to make it right.

In other news ive just been informed the Lemo 3 may get a single coil focused deck, so its back on the possible tanks list :)

i think they might actually do it, unlike SteamCrave who promised a single coil deck to me "next week", a month ago

I'd say you should stick to your Lemos, since all these other manufacturers are full of unfulfilled promises, and crap gear. And seemingly so unwilling to accommodate your needs.

Well i hope the Lemo 3 rumours are true, would make my life easier, ive owned both previous ones :)

I really couldnt tell you whether it was the threaded base or the pin, sorry. I do wish id had the claipers etc necessary to get that info. Not sure whether it wa the original or not, how could i tell? I heard there was a rumoured second one with square jf holes, if this is the case, mine had circular jf holes
Correct, there was a second version with "rectangle" shaped holes vs the round on the original release which is what I have.

My SS Merlin just arrived! (better late than never for Father's Day) Looks great but 2 quick questions before going back over 49 pages. First, not a question really, is did everyone else find the top juice hole piece almost impossible to get off the top of the chimney? I tried hot water, the freezer, until finally just using a pair of small needle nose pliers in the juice holes for leverage to unscrew it. I got it off without harm to the glass or o rings, but before I reassemble after a bath, it is always so impossible to turn?

Second, my chimney has round, not square holes. Is that good or bad? Was the issue with the black simply that it was difficult to see, so they went to square holes for that, or are they just too small?

I did get my KF 5 clone from FT too, so it was a good vape mail day (had a little trouble figuring that one out as well, but from the photos on FT I finally figured out why I couldn't separate the juice holes from the top).

Edit:Forgot, question 3. for folks using a single coil build on this, did you use the top or bottom 2 holes on the posts?

I've not had any issues getting either top off. The one to watch for though is the small inner oring coming out with the top when you take it off to fill.

From what I was told they changed the design due to some People complaining about dry hits. Do you use cotton or rayon for wick?

I use cotton, and yes, I already saw that top o ring was going to be grief. Hopefully there are a few more the same size in the little goody bag it came with it.
Lol yes there are a couple from what I saw when I unpacked mine. What I've been doing with my wick (4mm coil) is pulling so that it rests against the side of the base and cutting at the second thread line. Then fluff it out really well and tuck it in like I used to do my stm surrounding the juice cup. Then hold the top in place lightly while you push up from the hole to clear it of cotton. Ive not had a dry hit or leak yet doing it this way.

Oh, the hole on the build deck! That one on mine is kind of rectangular (a litle rounded on the corners), but the hole on the chimney that lines up to it is round.
Same as mine. The cups are the same I believe. I think they just made the round hole rectangular to match the inside.

OK, just to be sure, as it looks to me as though the holes on your build deck are round, here's what mine look like
Merlin juice holes.jpg

The chimney is round while the build deck holes (down where I'd run my cotton) is oblong/rectangular. I guess I'll just try it and if I have juice feed problems contact Augvape.

Interesting, yes both of my holes are round but my cup on the inside is rectangular. Sts may have swapped your deck with one of the replacement ones augvape sent him. Should still be able to wick the same way though.

I just got my replacement deck from STS and it looks like yours. My old one with the free spinning AFC had round holes.

Ah, OK. Then STS must have swapped it before shipping. @dshuld and @SKYYcamel , a big thanks before I threw a fit over something already fixed!

And an update! First build all done. Just a simple Kanthal coil 1.2 ohm. Dead simple to build, and it's wicking fine. No leaks and flavor is really quite good. I get a nice MTL restrictive airflow with the afc at a bit less than 1/4 and the tube restrictor in place. I'm going to like this tank if it keeps behaving well like this.

Tomorrow, SS wire being delivered, so time for recoiling and TC!

After a month long wait, I have my 2 in hand after a month in transit. Both from STS and the 1st batch but the afc's seem normal if a little on the loose side. Built the SS one but cleaned the black at the same time.Came apart easily and am vaping some banana nut bread which is pretty tasty right now!
1st wick job seems good, no dry hits or leaks-yet!:)

Used the 2 clear glass sections from the SS version, don't think I'll use the tinted until there's an emergency!

If you don't care for the tinted glass (which I didn't). It's easily removed with a razor blade. Despite a couple of small flaws mentioned throughout this thread, I find the Merlin to be the best RTA I've tried thus far hands down. The Merlin has become my standard tank even unseating my beloved serpents. Kudos Augvape and Roxy

The juice flow holes on my merlin are rectangular, on the deck and the chimney.

Opinions are like ________ fill in the blank how you like, everyone is entitled to one.
Indeed. My opinion is that when I pay good money for anything, it should be exactly what I paid for. Anything less is not acceptable.
Those who do accept less set the bar lower.

In my opinion, of course.
