Contrary to long-standing, dangerous, and absurd claims from the [HASHTAG]#TobaccoConTrol[/HASHTAG] industry, reducing the number of cigarettes smoked has a meaningful and easily detectable impact on health. As the authors put it:

«In dual users, EC use significantly reduced exposure to CO and acrolein because of a reduction in smoke intake. EC may reduce harm even in smokers who continue to smoke»

Effects of Switching to Electronic Cigarettes with and without Concurrent Smoking on Exposure to Nicotine, Carbon Monoxide, and Acrolein

I was a dual user for the first 6 weeks. My cigs went from 25 to 5 immediately with no apparent effort. During that time my overall condition improved a lot. I didn't need any scientist to confirm it. The result was so dramatic I considered not going to zero cigs. At the time I decided to finish the job to have more credibility encouraging other smokers. The many many people who benefit from cigarette taxes are desparate. They know they are losing.

I dual used from 2010-2012.

The noticable difference in my health, even dual using off and on, was what caused me to make the switch to eCigs fulltime. Dual use is a key factor for some, if not many, smokers.

Being able to compare how you feel smoking, and how you feel vaping and the fact that, yes, you are indeed getting that nicotine hit, without the attendent respiratory distress, is a huge benefit to dual use.

I dual used from 2011 to yesterday. And maybe tomorrow.

Essentially, I smoke in moderation. Maybe a pack a week right now, and around a pack a month during cold weather.

I have a very tough time understanding anyone (doctors included) who equate abusive or heavy smoking with moderate smoking. Honestly, if you put the two in (nearly) the same category, I would be very suspect of your overall level of knowledge. Equivalent to thinking the world is flat, IMO.

CDC's 2015 Tips From Former Smokers included e-cigs for the first time, and that was their reasoning for including them, that cutting down does not reduce risk. That's a complete reversal of what they used to say and encourage for decades.
As the authors put it:
Hmmm... "Corresponding Author:

vaping seems to be safer in England for some reason.

#TobaccoConTrol industry

Great stuff DrMA, love the call out in the industry too.

Yes, I wanted to emphasize the fact that ANTZ are really the industry that puts the Con & the Troll in [HASHTAG]#TobaccoConTrol[/HASHTAG]. There's no question anymore that we must abolish these greedy, heinous parasites for [HASHTAG]#vaping[/HASHTAG] to achieve its full public health potential.

The fact that this isn't a well established fact is kind of mind boggling. If you eat 1 big Mac a day you'll have less issues than if you eat 4 a day.
It WAS a well established fact until ANTZ found out that dual use vaping/smoking is common, including before switching completely. Seriously. That's when and why they changed the facts.
