They're coming to take me away ha ha, hee hee, ho ho, to the funny farm where life is beautiful all day long and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming to take me away!
Never heard much of it. WLS puled it from their playlist real quick. But I still remember it.

Soooo many fond memories of my SIX transistor Sears Silvertone leather cased radio that I'd go to sleep with under my pillow. Mowed many a yard to buy all da six C cell batts fer that 'hungry' puppy! Thank goodness for the atmospheric skip from WLS Chi- town down to Florida!!! Our local stations were at least two weeks behind da pop charts.

BTW, dat cherished radio was my only Christmas wish list item. Da rest of my 'presents' were socks and underwear...

ETA: In light of our recent 'good ol' days' conversations, NO ONE can diminish my appreciation for what my parents did to allow me to converse with ya'll!

There was a station in Nashville that I could get by skip. What was that one?

Do believe it was WSM.

Can 'member as a young younglin' visiting my greatgranddaddy's 'baccy farm near Live Oak, Fla, wid at least a dozen relatives cramming into a three room shack with an open kitchen. Also 'member everyone bumpin' heads to get close 'nuff to listen to da GOO on Friday night via an ol' Bakelite (aka polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride) radio.

Thankfully, it was 620 AM, which meant dat da 'signal' could travel further (due to 'skip') dan our local higher freq stations.

BTW, my GGD would have relished in Mike's postings... <sigh>

I had a tiny (for the day) transistor radidio that I too kept turned down very low under my pillow. It was fancy AM/FM. Listened to the oldies station (RetroRock!) in Orlando (WDIZ-FM) most of the time. Loved it. If it got too loud my rat fink little brother would tell my mom and she would take it away from me for about a week. This was in 1969/1970 so it really was quite small. Probably 4 inches on a side and an inch and 1/2 thick. Took a nine volt battery. Smallest one I had ever seen up to that point in time.

I had a little one like that, too, around 66-67. And later, I had one in a leather case. My Dad would bring things like that to us, but when he left to go out of town Mom would either take them away or make us keep them in our rooms no matter how low we turned them.

$2899.00 starting balance for Tiki House.

Paid $724.75 July 15th

Paid $724.75 Oct. 15th

Leaves $824.78 to cover December payment of $724.75 with $100.03 to apply to final February payment of $724.75.

Balance of $624.72 remains owed Feb. 15th.

$181.19 was the necessary payment to reach goal with 16 people estimated to attend, and we had rounded that to $185. Most people have added $18.81 for the residual fund which now holds $150.48.

There are two individuals that I am aware of that may have fight assistance needed to attend who have already paid all or half of their payment necessary to secure a spot at the Tiki House.

We have $230.00 in a separate fund to assist with flights. Flights are estimated at $180-200.00 each. Based on first come, first served, I have $180.00 earmarked for one of the people in need of assistance, which leaves $50.00 for the other person in need. Anyone willing to contribute please drop me PM.

Three of the original sixteen have not paid anything toward the house yet, and one has paid half.

Please keep in mind that I am not pushing anyone to pay. This is merely a report on current standing.

We have until February; however, we are going to have to decide how we are going to use the residual fund (eg. contribute to flights, food, gas???). There are still people that were not in the original 16 who may yet decide to join us.

It may be time to start some serious planning about activities and logistics. Who is driving who where, when and so on.

The flight assistance fund is separate from the residual fund. There is $230.00 in the flight assistant fund and $150.48 in the residual fund. I thought I made that clear in the above. The money in the residual fund is still going to be applied to what we agreed upon. However, if anyone wanted to contribute more to the flight fund, I would not turn it away. There is a high likelihood that the residual fund will be applied to people's pre-existing expenses if fewer than sixteen people come, as the rate per person will increase and those funds would be distributed accordingly. Thus, there would cease to exist a residual fund.

Whichever one needs it is fine.

Odyssey Update
Thirteen people have secured their place at The Odyssey and paid in full. We estimated the cost based on sixteen people attending. The house sleeps twenty. There are several “tentative” attendees. The rate was figured at $181.19 per person for the weeklong stay from April 16th – 23rd, 2016.

We are asking anyone else who plans to attend, and has not yet paid, to PM me (seapeach) ASAP to make arrangements to pay, or at least have a payment plan in progress with me to assure your place. All funds should be received by January 15, 2016; however, it would be helpful to get a plan in place immediately. As this is an interdependent venture, it is crucial for us to know who is seriously considering attending and have a payment plan in place in order for those attending to adjust their finances.

This is necessary to guarantee the final payment to Paradise Resorts is paid in full by February 15th. On January 15th, I will be posting the balance owed, minus any outstanding payments due to be received; along with a request for additional funds from those who have already paid in full should that become necessary.

Everybody who has already paid in full has made a payment of $200.00 even. If the additional funds needed are less than the $18.81 you have in residual, your residual will be used to meet that need and your balance will remain in the residual fund. If the additional funds needed are more than $18.81 you have in residual, you will need to forward payment, or have a plan in progress to meet the balance owed by the time the February 15, 2016 payment is due.

In this way, those who are set to attend will have ample time (thirty days) to secure any additional funds needed. I know Christmas is coming up and many have additional expenses.

For an idea of what additional funds may look like:

We currently have thirteen attending paid in full. That leaves three spaces outstanding. ($543.57 divided by thirteen is an additional $41.82 per person, minus $18.81=$23.01)

If fourteen attend, there will be two spaces outstanding. ($362.38 divided by fourteen is an additional $26.00 per person, minus $18.81=$7.19)

If fifteen attend, there will be one space outstanding. ($181.19 divided by fifteen is an additional $12.08, minus $18.81=+$6.73 remaining in residual fund.)

If sixteen attend the payment to Paradise Resorts will be totally covered. (with $119.76 remaining in residual fund.)

If seventeen to twenty attend, payments will be placed into the residual fund for ancillary support, (paper products, groceries, gas, to = $319.76-$600.00 in the residual fund).

Susan, than you so much for all your work and the detailed synopsis of what's going on.

Yes, we need to know ASAP if and when we need to supplement the payments, especially with the holidays coming up.

Some of us even may be going out of town for the holidays and knowing what we have to do before then will help us budget accordingly.

Again, thank you!!!!

Thanks all :)
No panic, just trying to make certain that everyone is well-informed so there's no surprises. I would; however, love to see seven more folk climb on-board. I want a houseful!
