10 day countdown (not counting today)!!! Deb, are you not counting today and the day we arrive or are you arriving before the 16th?

Mike and I have done some tanning so we don't get crispy down there. Yesterday I bought a couple tops and some lounge pants. Gonna try to keep the clothes to a minimum because I hate schlepping baggage around. (try being the operative word) I figure most of the time I'll be in shorts or a bathing suit.

We rented a mini van so we should be ok getting 4 of us to the house from the airport.

Anybody know if and what kind of coffee pot they have at the house? I gotta have my coffee in the morning even if it does have to be decaf. I figure we can hit the grocery store when we get there to stock up. For our ladies trip to the shore each year we used to bring tons of food till we figured out it was a whole lot easier to just hit the Acme after we arrived. And liquor was a bit cheaper in NJ so we made a stop for that too and were set for the week.

We woke up to frost this morning - I'm definitely looking forward to Florida weather!! Don't even care if it rains, it'll still be warmer than here!

Janet, this will be a quick reply as I'm head out soon!

Johnny told me he would see to a coffee urn! That was one of my first concerns!

Yes, the food will probably be something we figure out after we get there, although Peter and I will be making a cold platter of cheeses, etc for the crowd as they mosie in.....just something to tide us over....we're all going to probably be a bit tired from all the traveling, so I'm counting on a nap myself after having a bit of a snack.

Oops, gotta get going......already a bit late!

I'm flyin to Orlando a week from today (13th) and will come down with Susan. It was cheaper to fly on weekdays, and we get a couple days to visit. Plus I can help them load stuff up. She wants to take me to New Smyrna Beach on Thursday, so that'll be fun!

How nice of you to do that! Mike and I have learned to take food with us on any plane trip, but I'm sure we'll be up for a snack. Our plane is scheduled to arrive at 5:10 and Mrs. C comes in at 5:45 so I wouldn't think we'd be at the house until 7:00.

Gonna borrow a 60 cup percolator from our church. It's also marked fer 30 cups, so shouldn't be too difficult to adjust fer a crowd like ours.

Fer da custom cophphee/caphphine connoisseurs, there should be at least one smaller drip pot to brew their phav phlavs.

Talk 'bout mixed emotions/expectations... kinda wish I had 'nother week to get ready, but can't wait 'til ya'll get here!

I'm going to be a PIA because I have to do decaf and I like sugar and a lot of half and half in it. I'll bring some tea bags with me for Sunday morning until we can get to a store. Hmmm, might even be the start of a new routine. Anyway, I'll probably bring a bag or 2 of coffee. Mike still drinks regular coffee though.

Used to drink my java wid just lil' sugar. But after I retired I got hooked on black coffee wid sum French Vanilla creamer. If on a trip, dat's all I'll sip. I'll be sure to bring sum to da Tiki.

ohhhhhhh have I told you lately how much I love you???? Perked coffee heaven......I'm in heaven......

If the consensus is that coffee is coffee - we have a pretty good generic brand here locally that sells for $5.49 a can. I could bring one...
I'll drink whatever most folks want........but I'd personally vote for Folger's classic roast.

I'm going to be a PIA
No yur not! Like iffy said......I'm sure there will be a regular pot there. There could be more that like decaff at least in the evenings. I gotta have high octane at all times. :)

Yummm to the FV creamer. I used to only drink high octane too until my heart started to object. I'm grateful decaf is an option so I can still have coffee at all. I've been very lucky to not have food restrictions in my life other than the caffeine.

Jup.....so glad it's not worse than it is! And jup, decaff is a great thing for a lotta folks! :)

Now that'll be just about enough outta you Ms Smarty Beak!

Believe it or not...... the kids don't have a coffee pot here, just a keurig which is driving me batty battier. Coffee is a pita to make in the keurig, and doesn't taste like drip and nowhere near perked coffee. So.......... I just finished drinking the first cup of coffee I've had in about a week. I love it and wanna drink it every day like I used to, but had to wean off at Sil's house. I drank cream and sugar in it then, and I got to where I couldn't handle the sugar til I'd had something to eat. Many times something to eat didn't come til many hours after I'd gotten up, so no coffee. Now I mostly drink it black, but like just about any way.

Beak shut!

Keurig? Yup/nope. Not the same, at all. I know some folks love it, but I'm not one of em!

I do love coffee, but am allowed only 1 cup of caffeinated a day. DH gave me a espresso maker that also steams milk. It uses lil pods (no flavors; just various types of coffee) and they're really good. I get my fix by making decaf cappuccinos.

yummmmmmm I've got one of those in storage. lol My bunn coffee pot is there too. I'd love to get an electric percolator, but may have to wait til July. I've got a job I can do then to make a lil money, and I'll get one then if I haven't talked the kids into getting it before then. won't take up any counter space which is one of the dil's issues with getting one. Gonna tell em I want a percolator for mother's day lol

Yeah the keurig does have some wonderful kcups.......but ya can't drink 6 of those a day, and now all we have are the kind no one likes  But it stinks for making regular plain coffee

I used to take my little expresso machine & my own coffee, sugar & creamer when I traveled just so I could be sure I could get plain coffee. Amazing how many only drink the flavored coffeesn or french press or something. I use my little machine wiith plain coffee & just use less of it to get normal strength coffee in the expresso maker.
