Pics didn't come through for me, Dusty (work computer sometimes blocks them)
But it does help to wick if you trim/thin the tails after pulling through the coil. I'm not familiar with the ErlPrinz, though... looks like kayfun/Orchid style?
On my Orchid, I make the wick tight inside the coil (listen for the squeak), then trim the tail WAY down and put the tips of them in the juice channels. Just a few strands.
I have the dual coils in my Orchid at 2.8 ohms and even at 15W (my max on the Tesla) is still perfectly fine.

High Wattage vaping: Please help a brother out.

I need to figure out what I need to do to be able to vape at higher wattages. I received the ErlPrinz yesterday and wicked it as below. I'm fine in the 10 - 12W range. I took it up to 15W and started to taste off-flavour. At 20W, it was terrible, almost like a dry hit. Dialed it back down to 12W, and it's fine again.

Not a wicking issue, because I see a bubble float up after almost every hit and the vape is nice and saturated.

Do I need to have monster wicks like Tony's up top? I mentioned earlier that I split my Sally's strand into 3 for my 3/32 ID coils. Do I need to do 50/50 split of the strand instead?

Anyway.. here's my wick from yesterday evening. Please let me know what I'm missing:

If it's not wicking issue and the coil is getting too hot is it maybe an airflow issue? Keeping the coil cool needs either faster wicking or more airflow when power is raised. Are you doing mouth or lung pulls? Honestly, with my style of weak mouth pulls through tight airflow I doubt I'd be able to push 20+ watts with a 28ga coil without overheating it.

Why do you want higher watts anyways if the vape is full and saturated, are you wanting more vapor production?

Air flow is massive on the Erlp compared to the KFL. 2mm hole in post and pretty much wide open at the bottom. I can easily lung hit it, and want to take it up to 20W or so with 100%VG 3mg juices that I have, basically replicating my low ohm builds on the mechs.

Just playing with it to see what it's capable of. Folks have reported using it with higher wattages, so I know it can be done. I just thought I'd ask the question here first since I know a bunch of folks use rayon and vape at higher wattages too.

The erlonkonin looks pretty sweet. It's really very similar to the original odessyus. With obvious changes! One thing I really like about it is how they actually curved the wick channels. Instead of just a sharp 90 degree cut.

Looks like that atty has been a big hit just visited the qorax thread... Like woah... Yeah will be taking a look at clones for my Christmas present to myself. Unless I find something better.

If you would; get a pic of the wick next time you get a chance to open it up so we can gauge the reduction in your wick. It looks pretty good. Thicker is better than loose. Your probably only very slightly over dense. Like 15-20 strands.
Thx :)

Actually that's the erlprinz... Erlkoenigin's cheap offspring. :)

Gotchya. Yeah big airflow should allow more power so probably need to get the wicking up. If you don't trim like the previous poster mentioned, do it. Biiig improvement with rayon wicking, I trim a lot off my tails.

Guys I just tried something crazy with the kayfun. I did the double insertion method without thinning any of the tails. I just cut the excess and stuffed rayon down there like there is no tomorrow. Yes I blocked the channels. It's doing better than ever lol. I think with something like kayfun we don't care for fast delivery but volume? No idea how this rayon is working but it is lol. Fastest and best build I have ever done.

That's how I got my kfl to work at 25w :D

Lol, I'll try that next wicking with my KFL. I've actually been getting a little leaking out the airhole lately with that device so maybe that'll fix it. I wonder how much the, ahem, double insertion, is playing into your results. I'll try it doing the regular wicking, just no trimming.

Oh I split Sally's in half and then use only one half. From that halve I take maybe 10% off and divide the rest in two equal chunks... Then I wick it with both across the coil

Since doing coil winds, I'm becoming more familiar with metric... I wrap my coils on precision screwdrivers, and they are labeled in metric.
I understand inches, feet, lbs, gallons and awg... but Stones? Doesn't that depend on how big the rock is? And what kind of rock it is? I mean, granite is heavier than shale....

Ah... Sorry, I meant some of your ancestors in the UK.

I still remember talking to a guy about something and he telling me he weighted 5 stones and I was like... Ok... And I kept thinking about the weight of a stone and if it was like something standard or what...

Now if you add to that that an UK gallon is bigger than a US gallon... I give up lol.

It depends on the density and how it's wicking through the tails. Then the power your using in relation to air flow.

I've gotten 100ml in the flash e vapor 1.4 at 6v. The juice I use is not clear, it's hangsen Arabic tobacco. There have been many reports of 80 ml, tbev hits 120 in his tobh. Usually I change it just to change the coil or the wick I put in wasn't really the correct density.

There is a sweet spot where everything pops and it lasts a long long time.

My current wick is too light on density but I've still been able to vape it for I think 10 days now maybe longer. So it's very forgiving but the crazy 100ml club needs to have the density and tails just right for the build.

So how long are you getting and is it an evod?
On my best wick job :) so far I have got around 50ml. I am using my ARO tank, it is like the Kanger Evod, my diy eliquid is clear. (FW hazelnut mixed with NF Vanilla Cream at 60/40 7mg) I use my Smoketech ARO 900mah battery or my Rocket Mod that uses 18650 batteries.

I was curious of what everyone here thought, because you all know a respectful amount of information about rayon :) Thank you everyone :)
