not trolling just passing info... guess you aren't interested ... as I said... FYI ... don't see what you are saying it says.......not a single post that says user error that I can see... if I missed the statement you mentioned please post it...I reread it and the last post was "place holder"...
In the same FB post of Michael David in his comments section...
  • Ariel Rincón FalconiI experienced the same last night, the wick was dry enough, no vapor production and the "Dry Coil - No Liquid" message did not show up, I even left the power button pressed until the automatic cut-off.
Eventually the message appeared, but it took too long, I think this should be considered as a Bug.
By the way, it would be nice if when the "Dry Coil - No Liquid" message is shown, it remains on the screen for some seconds, maybe blinking?
Currently, it stops displaying the message as soon as you release the firing button.

George Parrish Did it burn the Wicking?
  • Ariel Rincón Falconi did it burn your wicking?
  • Ariel Rincón FalconiNo, fortunately it didn't George. Wick was fine smile emoticon
A few hours after I did the update it was time for me to change out my 3 week old coil and rebuild my Lemo 2. My tank was getting close to empty so I vaped it until I could see no more ejuice on my Lemo 2. Then I continued to vape it getting lesser and lesser flavor and clouds but still working. After about 20 pulls or so I got the dry hit message and could no longer vape on the SXM. I took my Lemo 2 apart and pulled out the wick. It was dry to the bone and could not get but the slightest amount of moisture on my 2 fingers as I squeezed the wick. The wick had not even the slightest singe on it.

Is this a bug? I think not! In my mind it is working perfectly as designed. The message appeared when the wick was almost completely dry and without getting even the slightest dry hit. Would you not expect this result with TC working at its finest?

Now I am not a DNA40 user, but I am asking if you do the same procedure to a DNA40 unit and take out the wick when it produces a dry hit message will the wick still have moisture on it upon squeezing it? If it does have moisture, then is that a correct result or did it jump the gun too soon? If it doesn't, then isn't it doing the same thing as the SXM? Which is it? You can't have it both ways.

Anyone care to tell me if there's a good reason to update my SX Mini M?

If all it does it add an eco mode, which turns the display off more quickly, but disables the ability to use soft, powerful, powerfu+, I don't think I'm that interested.... I'll keep my SX as is, I'm really very pleased with it.

If there is a good reason to update, can someone point me to where the latest update file an be found?

Thanks! (I read back three pages, then decided to just ask....)

People who have updated mentioned that TC mode seems more accurate. If you are using TC, then it might be worthwhile ;)

I haven't used TC on the new firmware yet, but that was the general consensus.

YiHi was nice enough to help some customers out and ask them not to distribute the test update. I see the file in a vendor website newsgroup and this on Facebook.

I bet YiHi customer service won't be so nice again.

SX Mini M Class 1.4 launch firmware bug list

1. Power&&Joules settings has an additional & sign in the title.
2. When setting the resistance in temperature control (Up and Down buttons held together for a few seconds) and then pressing the fire button, the device would again set the resistance and display this resistance upon pressing the fire button.
3. Whenever entering the menu, the users preset memory location is reset to memory location 1 IF the user presses the up button outside of the menu. To replicate, change memory bank location to anything except M1, enter the menu (fire button 5 times), exit the menu (tap fire button until you get to Exit On, press the Up button), then press the Up button.

SX Mini M Class 2.1 changes (fixes, features, newly introduced bugs)

Features Added:

1. Gravity sensor can be disabled in the settings with a hard on/off setting.
2. Adds an Eco mode, this mode turns the display off after 5 seconds of firing (but ONLY in this mode) and limits the device to a max of 40 Joules, otherwise, it functions identically to the Standard mode (the order of modes is now Soft, Eco, Standard, Powerfu+, and Powerful). In addition, the five memory settings used in Eco mode are separate from the shared memory settings in Soft/Standard/Powerfu+/Powerful adding an additional 5 memory settings specifically for use in Eco mode (for a total of 10 user memory settings, 5 for Eco mode and 5 that are shared between Soft, Standard, Powerfu+, and Powerful).

Reports show an approximate battery life improvement of around a 15-20% increase when left exclusively in Eco mode, likely due to the screen on time being reduced 55 seconds (60 seconds down to 5 seconds for each time the fire button is pressed).

Yihi eludes that Eco mode has other optimizations but does not clarify what those optimizations are, the device has been scoped in Eco mode and it performs identically to Standard mode and as such, until I know specifics, I have opted to list only what I can confirm.

3. In dual battery mode, the SX Mini M Class will now fire up to 150 watts.

Bug Fixes:

1. When setting the resistance by pressing the up and down buttons together and then pressing the fire button, the device no longer measures and displays the resistance a second time when pressing the fire button.

Unlisted Bug Fixes:

1. The temperature reading is now more accurate, users can set their temperature approximately 30 degrees cooler in the new firmware and approximately the same vape they were getting on the older firmware at 30 degrees higher. This is also in line with Pbsuardo's review showing that on the 1.4 firmware, the device was registering the temperature approximately 30 degrees warmer than it actually was.

Introduced Bugs:

1. When in Eco mode, if the battery is removed, any battery that is inserted will display 'check battery' when the fire button is pressed.

User Fix: Before removing the battery, switch the mode to anything but Eco mode (Soft, Standard, Powerfu+, or Powerful), then insert (re-insert if you forgot to swap before removing the battery) the battery and switch back to Eco mode (if you so desire).

2. Powerfu+ and Powerful are listed in reverse order, they are listed as Soft, Eco, Standard, Powerfu+, and Powerful when they should be listed Soft, Eco, Standard, Powerful, and Powerfu+.

Remaining unfixed bugs:

1. Power&&Joules settings page has an extra & in the title.

These instructions have been modified slightly from my original post with these instructions in order to clarify and/or add a few tips in order to make the process a bit more clear..

Note - You will need to reinstall the driver if you already had it installed before the firmware was released. If you have trouble getting the software to recognize your device as being compatible with the firmware when you get to this point in the installation, you likely need to reinstall the driver.

Note - Requires Windows and a PC.

Note - Upgrading or downgrading your firmware will erase all your watts / joules settings you have stored in your memory locations so make a note of them if needed.

If downgrading, you do not need to reinstall the driver, scroll down in these instructions toward the bottom and follow the instructions under the firmware installation section.

Go here (SXmini M Class manufacturers,SXmini M Class exporters,SXmini M Class suppliers,SXmini M Class OEM service. and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, in the 3 column from the left is a download section, start by downloading the driver (do not close the browser) and install like usual.

On this same page, right below the driver, there are two files, Upgrade firmware for m class 120 watts and another for 150 watts. They both work, have no idea what the difference is between them as far as functionality or performance (I installed both and functionality wise, they were identical).

Note, the original 1.4 firmware is also listed here in case you wish to revert back to the firmware that came with your device, follow the directions toward the bottom of these instructions under 'firmware installation'.

Listed below, the first bit is the name of the file, the second number is the size of the file after its been unzipped, the third is the date the file was modified. Which one you should use is as good a guess as mine, but they do both work and are functional and all listed bugs mentioned above still exist.

I am using the 120 watt file in case you want to know which one I decided to keep (again, I verified that they both work).

SXmini-M Class 1st upgrade software_SXmini_Logo-120W_20150525-1424_V2.1.SXI --> 115,313 --> 5/22/15

SXmini-M Class 1st upgrade software_SXmini_Logo-150W_20150525-1711_V2.1.SXI --> 115,353 --> 5/22/15

Whichever you decide to use, extract them somewhere you can locate (they must be extracted, the SXI software wont accept a rar file).

You can use several programs to unzip / extract, my personal preference is IZArc but 7zip is also a great choice.

IZarc can be found here: Download - IZArc - Free Zip Files Utility - Zip files, unzip files

7zip can be found here: 7-Zip

Once extracted, open the Yihi software, it can be found in your start menu under All Programs-->Yihi SXI-->SXI (right click on SXI and run as administrator, click the ok box to confirm when it appears).

Now press your fire button on your SX Mini 5 times and continue tapping the fire button until you get to Link off, press your up button to turn link on, then plug in to your pc.

Note: Some have had trouble getting their PC to detect the device and had better luck removing the battery, plugging in the USB plug, tapping the fire button 5 times to turn the device on, then continuing to tap until you get to Link off, then press your up button to turn link on.

When the program opens, click Connection, then click Install Driver, then click the Start Windows 7 or Windows 8 (32X or 64X) setting button.

In the new window, you should see your SX Mini listed in the dropdown, click the button right below that to install the driver (Install WCID Driver) and confirm any prompts that appear (I believe there is an unsigned certificate that will appear, click ok).

Once done, you can close the window with the dropdown box and you should see the previous window that was open, you'll now click the Connect button and in green, it should tell you the device is connected.

Now, at the top, click the return button.

Firmware installation

Click the Upgrade button. Click the open file button and locate the firmware file you downloaded and extracted earlier and click open (or double click on the file).

Now, verify the message below the upgrade button, it should be completely green, if any part of it is red, you probably have the wrong file, the software isnt seeing your device, OR (IMPORTANT!!), you have the older driver software installed and need to reinstall the driver - download and install the driver again and follow the instructions from the beginning.

If everything is green, click the upgrade button and you should see a progress indicator, when it reaches 100%, youre done.

Unplug your device, pull the battery, reinsert the battery, press your fire button 5 times to boot your device, then vape away.

It should be noted that the process of upgrading or downgrading your firmware also erases your Joules / Watts settings for all memory locations and those will have to be configured again.

I repeat my post.... nobody said this was a definite bug.... I was only passing on info from another source... plain and simple...

" Just read this in another facebook forum... FYI.....

I'm experiencing another bug after the upgrade that I haven't seen mentioned. I'm no longer seeing the "Dry coil" alert when the wick is dry. Are others experiencing this?

Actually it turns out that the "Dry Coil" message did show up. It just took a lot longer for it to appear. So I'm not sure if this is a bug or they made it more accurate."

Nah its not a pink wrap, it's a pink SXmini m. I might look little funny walking around with it without wrapping it. :)

Im confused (Not a 1st), but why in the world would you purchase a Rose unit if you don't like that color (and looking to wrap it before it is even in your hands) and most vendors have plenty of other color combinations available.

Personally, I think the update is worth installing, just make note of the Introduced Eco bug, you dont want to think you have a bricked device when its just a software bug that is easily fixed.

The news article on the Yihisxmini site states that there are some background processes that are disabled in Eco mode. Without seeing the code and what they are doing, my guess is that there is more going on than just the shorter timeout for the display. My thought is that something like the frequency at which it checks the resistance when firing may be reduced etc-- things that may give negligible effect on vape quality

Well, it has been scoped and there is no change to how it vapes. Until Yihi tells me something specifics, this is only definitive changes.

I havent had a chance to check, but the gravity sensor might be disabled in Eco mode but I havent confirmed this yet.

I have edited the post to clarify this point, I wont list 'phantom' changes unless Yihi gives more specifics.

I just couldn't help myself after I read some of the bugs and unfixed bugs. My OCD told me to email Yihi and ask them why the heck they reversed the Powerful and Powerfu+? Powerfu+ is a bug because of no L at the end  I also asked if they could revise the firmware to remove the extra & I just couldn't help myself.

How often they sample the resistance wouldn't be something necessarily detectable on the scope depending on how they did it (I.e sampling current draw&voltage is one way to do it and wouldn't show on a scope)... Also would have negligible effect on vape quality (and again may not even show on a scope under most cases) if they sampled it 100x/second or 75x/second. Again all speculation on what all is done.

The wording of their notes on it state: "In the ECO mode, a lot of functions will be banned, as much as possible to improve battery time." Which sounds more like the outcome of getting on the bad side of one of the moderators on here than the engineering of a personal Vaporizer lol. Seriously, though, their statement is quite ambiguous... And I'd be curious to know what all features were banned

Also in Eco mode you get more total Joules then in Standard mode. Not sure if this is only caused from the screen off function or if there is something else going on but you definately get a longer battery life and a 15-20% more total Joules. My battery was usually lasting most of a day now it lasts about 24 hours using 2 of them. I am a pretty heavy vaper so that is good. Haven't tried to change the battery since the Test Patch was applied but I am confident it is fixed from what I've heard.
