I currently own 3 pairs of 25rs, two pairs of vtc5s, and 1 pair of vtc4s. Want some new 18650s though to go with a new mod I'll be getting soon.

The only place I buy my batteries from(illumn) has the hg2 listed at 5 where the 25r is listed at 4.

Is the hg2 worth an extra dollar a piece? Hoping illumn would have a sale on their 18650s but their prices as is isn't bad. The vtc6 is also in option but 7.50 a piece for them.

I was thinking I should get the HG2s at 5 dollars a piece. Open to suggestions though, the vtc5 is also 5 dollars a piece right now. I'll be using batteries in an Hohm wrecker G2 171W TC.

Yea, think ill go with the HG2s. Only 5 bucks a piece thats not too bad. 25rs like a mentioned in my above post are 4 dollars each and feel like an extra dollar is worth getting 500 more mah. Thats just the prices on illumn, im sure there are other reputable places I might be able to get the 18650s from maybe a little cheaper. Though I kind of doubt it because illumn typically is the cheapest or one the cheapest vendors around. Most importantly you always get authentic batteries from illlumn and I have such a high comfort level ordering through them...have never gone anywhere else to buy batteries. Though I'd consider it if the price was right and someone could vouch for another vendor. Last year on illumn there was a coupon code for black friday specifically for 18650s but cant seem to find one this year. They are having sales on flashlights and chargers though :)

Just to thread jack; I have the same question. I'm about to replace 6 HG4 3000 Mah brown 18650's that are getting a bit old. I've heard that Mooch says there's a new 18650 that he's now rated better than the Brown's.

I'm looking for the best battery life overall for my various single 18650 mods that I use from 12watts- 35watts. Any suggestions?

I use temp control at 400 degrees and 30 max watts. A LG HG2 you mention, the browns, just barely get me through an entire day and give me lots of head space. 3.0 cut off volts x 10 amps = 30 watts. Which is to say, at the lowest voltage, before the device is supposed to turn itself off I'm drawing 10 amps from a battery rated for 20 amps. When I need batteries again, which won't be soon, I'll buy HG2's again unless there is very good evidence to do something different.

The LG hg2, Samsung 30q, and Sony vtc6 are still the best for your use.

There are no 3000 mAh HG4 browns...

In everybodies wattage range here...all of the occured batteries here are ok.

Btw: How do You proof, that batteries are getting "a bit old"?

Yes, HG2...or even 30Q...or VTC6...if much wh is wanted.

My experience with 6 HG2...2x3 together in a RX200 is: After nearly one year...since January exactly...they are still in a well condition. I treat them hard; up to 220 Watts. I test them frequently (capacity, impedance...)...everything ok. Little, acceptable loss of capacity and only a little bit rised impedance.

Recommend them.
